The chefs came into the room and everyone's stomachs made a choired growl of approval. After enduring close to fifteen minutes of absolute silence, a food break was very welcomed. Nikola was sitting beside Melissa and Riley; in fact, she was in between them. That had not happened since before she reunited with her brother. She was beaming as her wife nestled herself into her side. She was far more affectionate lately and she had her brother to thank for it. She was still incredibly curious about what he put in the dream sequence he gave them. Neither woman had commented on it or so much as hinted at what they experienced. All she knew was that they both knew about the true cost of her birth. They'd both seen her mother on her deathbed and witnessed the first murder Nikola ever committed. That was enough, she supposed. Perhaps, that was enough. Not that she wanted to use her mother's death to buy herself sympathy but she guessed that it factored in in some way.
