Serena tried to go back to sleep, but somehow, she always kept remembering dark, stormy grey eyes if she tried to sleep, thus waking her up. Finally, she decided to give up and came out of their room to drink some water.
She took the glass of water from the kitchen and went outside to the living room.
There was a big window and beautiful scenery could be seen from there. Moon was shining up in the sky, the city was mostly calm except for one or two vehicles passing by. While she was observing the view from the window, Serena felt herself calm down. She didn't know why, but she had always liked the moon and always sought the calm of night whenever she felt troubled.
She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't hear the footsteps coming near her.
"Couldn't sleep?"
"Oh, God!", she put her hand on her heart as if startled, as she was surprised by a voice calling her from behind. Serena turned to find Sky standing beside her.
"Don't sneak on me like that. You scared me", she blurted out.
She could see him smirk at her words. Still, it didn't seem that he was as hostile as he was with her in the morning. It seemed… easing… reducing her anxiety even more.
"So, you didn't answer me", he said, placing his hands in the pocket of his pants… a relaxing posture… making her relaxed too.
"Yeah, woke up due to something", she replied hesitantly.
" Too much to think?", Sky asked knowingly.
'Oh, right he also must have gone through this…'
"Yeah", Serena mumbled while looking out of the window.
" These two-three days have been very hectic… actually this whole week, I can say. And now, I just want it to stop…. Sorry, I spoke too much now, didn't I?" She added when she found him gazing at her face calmly, too calm if you ask her.
"Come with me", he gestured at her to follow him and went back into the kitchen. When she went into the kitchen, Sky had already taken out all the things that he needed and was doing something on the stove.
Soon, a sweet smell spread throughout the room and Serena realized what he was doing.
'Hot Chocolate'...
He had made her hot chocolate. Serena was strongly reminded of Molly, who also made her hot chocolate whenever she was troubled. It was her ultimate cure. It can cure anything, she said.
Sky gave her the mug after filling it to the brim and adding marshmallows on the top. Serena was somehow sure if she asked for the sprinkles on the top, she'd get those too.
She was touched by his silent gesture.
Even after spending just a day in the house, she had come to know too much about the personalities of her co-habitants. And Sky was a silent person. He showed care in silence, being behind the scenes, and supporting wholeheartedly. This is what she could gather from the stories she had shared with Anna, Jane, and Jamie.
She forwarded her hand to take the mug and their hands touched. A spark, which she was now familiar with flowed through their hands again, filling her with warmth. But still, it was somehow different.
"Oh", Sky mumbled lightly.
"Oh? Oh, what Sky?"
"Ah, it seems that we aren't soulmates like the others in the family…"
Then he looked at her face and couldn't help laughing, she looked so apprehensive and scared… it was funny.
" Don't look so miserable. We are siblings, in sense. Just that our bond is closer than others. We match, you can say?" He finished his explanation.
Serena lightly slapped him.
"Can you not stop in the middle of the sentence? You stopped like three times. I was… I don't know… maybe scared?"
All she got in response was him laughing at her.
"Sorry, couldn't resist."
"Hey, Sky, how do you guys know this much? I mean you could just tell we are close like siblings, and it seems like Robin knows the full history about this. Even though you guys are also a part of this, it seems strange to know nearly everything, right?"
"Ahhh, that's because his father, Robin's I mean, was someone who rescued people like us. So he grew up knowing about it."
Rescue???
