Chapter 34 - The Flames of Wrath

"Quickly! Lay him down!" Katri exclaimed, trying to handle Akira's heat after being teleported to the hidden base under the shop.

"Shit he's too hot!" Lesley hissed, groaning at the burn his hand got.

"Hey, do something Damien!" Jin exclaimed, unable to handle the heat from Akira.

"Do what exactly? If I tried anything it'd only enhance his flames. If you hadn't noticed, the only person who can handle Akira's heat is Oliver." Damien retorted.

"Where is he? Natasha can you go get him?" Jin asked, turning to glance at a hunched over Natasha gasping for breath.

"I don't think she's blinking anywhere for now. You know teleporting this many people takes a lot out of her." Damien stated.

"Crap! Akira snap out of it!" Luck yelled, gazing in concern at Akira's burning red flames that engulfed his entire body.

"What the hell is wrong with him?" Lesley remarked. "Did he eat something bad or something?"

"Katri! Can't you do something?" Jin questioned.

"Do what?!" Katri retorted.

"I don't know, help contain him?!"

"Fine. I'll try."

Taking a deep breath, he activated his innate, which allows him to control sound waves and use a high frequency sonic voice.

Akira's flames fluttered under the pressure of the sonic voice Katri aimed at him, but it goes even further out of control as the flames increase, blowing Katri away.

"Agh!" He groaned as his body hit the wall, and slid down onto the ground.

"Okay that just made things worse!" Luck stated, rushing to help Katri.

"Damn it! Where the hell are Oliver and Lucien?!" Damien cursed, unsure how to handle the situation.

"This is ridiculous! A room full of A-rank Attack type Holders and not one of us can stop this bastard?!" Lesley grumbled, annoyed at his powerlessness.

"Well, to be fair, Akira's an S-rank Destruction type. The only one's who can stop this are Oliver and Lucien." Luck added.

"Shut up Luck! Doesn't matter if he's an S-rank or not. We should at least be able to do something damnit!"

"We have to sedate him!" Katri stated, groaning as he struggled to get up.

"Gee why didn't I think of that," Damien mused, clicking his tongue at the situation.

"Whatever we shoot at him will burn up before it even reaches him," Natasha stated, struggling to get up as well.

Beep!

The base elevator doors opened, revealing Lucien and Oliver.

"About fucking time," Damien sighed, relieved at their presence.

"Lesley, shoot him," Lucien stated, handing him a tranquilizer.

"My pleasure," Lesley responded, more than happy to oblige.

Oliver cooled down the temperature again, cooling down the outer surface of his skin, enough for his flames to be cooled down.

Lesley rifled through the lockers, pulling out his tranquilizer gun, then steadily aiming it at Akira. Once Akira was cool enough, he pulled the trigger.

Slowly, they watched as his flames gradually died down as he struggled to maintain consciousness. Unable to stay awake any further, Akira slumped over, losing consciousness.

"God freaking damn," Damien sighed, exhausted from the mess Akira had unintentionally created. "What the hell just happened?"

"I would like to know that too?" Jin huffed, wiping the sweat that trickled his forehead.

"Why did Akira suddenly lose it?" Luck asked concerned, looking to Lucien, who was the most likely to have the answers to their questions.

"I think it better to let him explain that himself when he wakes up," Lucien shrugged. "In the mean time, how about we go man the store. We're still open."

"Right," Oliver sighed, hiding the frustration in his tone as he continued. "Let's return. Luck, get Satoma to watch Akira while he's sleeping. We need to make sure he doesn't lose it when he wakes up again."

The group remains silent, staring at Lucien for in doubt for a bit before doing as Oliver said.

"I'll stay back and watch him too," Jin started. "Not like Satoma can really do much if Akira does flip out when he wakes up again."

"Alright," Oliver responded with a small nod. "The rest of us will take care of things in the shop. Call us immediately when Akira wakes up."

"Got it." Jin replied simply, dragging Akira's limp body onto the couch.

Due to the fire that started a few buildings down, Lucien decided to close the store early after serving the last of the customers remaining.

"All this shit is just making this gig harder than it needs to be," Damien spat. He wasn't in the best of moods. "Now the cops are going to be crawling around here un-freaking-necessarily."

"Do you think the fire was just a coincidence?" Katri asked, tapping his chin as he immersed himself in thought.

"Like hell it was," Lesley responded, folding his arms as he kicked his feet up the table, his gaze not breaking away from the game he was playing on his phone. "A suspicious fire just happened to break out only a few meters away from the hideout of Halo agents on the day of their grand opening. Yeah right."

"The fire was clearly started by an innate," Natasha added. "And a fairly powerful one at that. Maybe even as powerful as Akira's."

"So it might have been an S-rank with a flame innate?" Luck questioned. "But which organization?"

"It might have been a rogue," Katri said, sighing at the end.

"Don't tell me," Damien started, turning to look at Lucien. "Is that why Akira acted like that? Because of this holder? Don't tell me he knows who it is."

"Many fires like this one have been happening around town even before we got here," Oliver stated.

"Then, there's a big possibility this may be the target we came here for." Natasha surmised.

"Oh, you're right," Damien sang, remembering why they were here in the first place. "But, isn't our target supposed to be laying low right now. Why would he intentionally set fires that would attract attention. What for?"

"Maybe he was tired of hiding?" Luck queried.

"For a guy who was careful enough to fly under Halo's radar for a long while?" Katri muttered, thinking about the information they were given on the target. "I don't think so."

"Then lemme guess," Damien started, almost glaring at Lucien. "Are we supposed to ask Akira this too when he wakes up?"

Lucien smirked, continuing to wipe up the glasses that he'd just rinsed in the sink earlier before saying, "I don't think you'd have to wait long."

As he said this, the hidden elevator that lead to their underground base opened and Jin, Satoma, and Akira appeared before the group.

"Akira!"

Akira sighed before hesitantly speaking, "I'm sorry for causing you so much trouble."
