Chereads / Hybrid - the Apocalypse / Chapter 28 - Rivals

Chapter 28 - Rivals

By Angel

Well, here is a crazy fairy tale. The happy ending of all stories.

The happy ending ... Together forever?

Did he just have a lover? Can you believe that ????

A lover! I don't even know-how got to the hangar. think they separated us into groups of women and men and brought us together like cattle.

"Your moment of glory, Angel!"

It didn't make much difference to me at that time, the claws that held strange weapons or the low crying of women separated from their husbands or families, I felt nothing. I couldn't think of anything. Anaesthetized.

But of course, Zorack was going to be by his side.

Klaus ?!

ZORCK ??? Bastard!

Naturally, I noticed the discomfort of an awkward and indecisive Zorack that I didn't know. It was frustrating! I pretended that it all happened to someone else. Suddenly I was just Angel from school, who didn't have many friends, with an adoptive family and studying at a school while dreaming of living in the big city.

There was no longer a deadly virus. There were no invaders from other planets or creatures that could never exist. I was just a simple girl with no family and abandoned in front of a shelter as a child who had grown up. I was totally human.

Abductions did not exist as my psychologist so often spoke. It was just a goddamn nightmare. It had only been a quiet Friday night and there was proof of math and French. All I worried about was not wasting another year.

I thought I stood there and had no idea what was going on until I was pushed and heard angry metal hisses. It plummeted back to reality. My eyes didn't see huge, bizarre creatures that didn't exist. We were not on any military base as a pathetic group of pandemic survivors that killed the weakest, making a natural selection for invaders looking for potential hosts.

My private little world did not fall apart again. I was just a damn sixteen-year-old with a life that could even be normal. wasn't even a virgin anymore. Maybe somewhere there was still a fucking working smartphone. A good movie on Netflix could distract anyone.

Zorck? He didn't say a thing, anything... Miserable son of a bitch ...

-You can not be poking with that damn gun or whatever! - I screamed suddenly and out of my mind.

It had stopped again! And not even noticed. Zorack had someone who was not me. Someone important.

Did he really think there was going to be a big ending?

-Angel! - I heard Sereide's calm and worried voice in my ears and pulling my arm in front of a puzzled Scarlet.

"Ah, you didn't even expect this, did you? Do you really think I didn't notice the way Zorack was drying my eyes from afar? Get screwed, dear!"

-Come on, Angel! - Scarlet was determined to pull me like a doll that didn't react.

I just wanted to scream, cry and curse! It was all tied up like a lump in the throat! There was just nothing in my chest.

There were no alien ships or genetic experiments. There was no inhabited world beyond our planet. Édrin was just a damn nightmare. There was neither a Galactic Confederation nor a Spartackus with artificial intelligence that spoke as if they were people of flesh and blood.

A somewhat insane laugh started to threaten to overwhelm me. I could freak out there very easily and goodbye problems! No aliens! No alien invasion.

For a split second, I looked at the huge open door that separated us before the rest of the world in shock. It wasn't, it couldn't be Earth. Bipedal creatures with skin covered with metallic skin with scales. Tails with thorns and stingers probably poisonous. Disproportionate and grotesque heads with huge ferocious eyes. The threatening prey of predators in their natural system. Animals that before we could classify as small insects ... Everything now had an exaggerated proportion. And scary and ...

-Angel! - Sereide touched my hand and I knew she was trying to control my mood swings.

I looked at her in surprise.

I haven't freaked out yet, okay? A damn Zorack boyfriend who should be dead is out there alive and walking. Don't you dare ask me if I'm okay!

A damn lab hybrid!

Horrible images came to my mind, invoking my worst fears. I was going to end up with a tail, a tailor a damn claw. And those same red eyes ...

-Angel! Just take a deep breath, okay? "Scarlet spoke with annoying calm.

Ha-ha! It's funny! I wanted to see you so calm if you were your little boyfriend. Max only has eyes for you!

-There's something wrong! - Sereide spoke as if it wasn't even the end of the world. And we were going to die there. - There are no reports of the arrival of the K'Aldriant on planet Earth while the survivors were not rescued.

It was a talk of lunatics. I had collapsed in the middle of a madhouse. I might as well freak out. Sixteen years old and victim of a massive attack of schizophrenia.

-Are you implying that these creatures created a break in the timeline? Scarlet managed to widen her eyes in horror.

So what if they had done that? And what curse was a break in the timeline?

"Hi, can anyone speak my language? How about the easy part of the hellish storey I missed? Fuck!"

Sereide shrugged, radiating a bubble of calm around me that only infuriated me. I had every reason to feel the last in that place. An alien apocalypse and had I managed to take a damn off my almost fiance? Because legally no paper was signed. The doctor had just tried to calm the confusion at the base with constant fights from an Earthman and an alien to keep everyone from going crazy.

- Which is not to say that they were all destroyed. I always thought that Gargoyles used technology. Never even one was captured no matter how hard we tried. Illegal genome traffickers of species ... And more. I always said that N'Tirlay was never the shelter where they hid.

Sereide smiled at Scarlet, and for a moment I felt like a madwoman. What the fuck did they say, N'Tirlay? Star dealers? Really? Gimme a break. And what about the supposedly evolved world where everyone lived in cooperation for the common good?

What part of the story had I missed?

I sighed, struggling to contain my irritation. Fire! It could very well radiate flames around the place and attack those things. Just a little concentration ... And the hell with the heart problem. A breath and I probably doubt it would reach the age of twenty by the looks of it.

And what difference was it going to make in that world of lunatics? I heard again the metallic squeak that they used as the most furious communication. With so much technology and hadn't even seen a language translator yet! What did they say to each other anyway?

- What are you saying? - I asked curiously and making it clear that I would not accept excuses. - Don't come up with lame excuses that you don't understand!

Sereide and Scarlet looked at each other indecisively when we were locked in the lab and moved away from the others. In any case, the two of them now aroused resentful glances from everyone in captivity without knowing the fate that awaited us.

-But what the hell, Angel. Zorack better decide ...

-No, Scarlet. Cut the subject! I don't think you noticed that Zorck is quite busy with someone who should be dead? You wanna tell me how fucking Klaus is alive? What do these damn creatures seem to talk to each other about? "I asked, threatening to freak out.

- Angel ... - Sereide tried to calm the mood. - We don`t know yet. Klaus was dead by the records. He was one of the few humans captured in his system and led to the illegal trade in N'Tirlay.

I snorted, cursing another expletive.

-Guess! He's alive and walking and talking! - I yelled out of me.- And Zorack ...

I was not able to continue. It hurt to speak out loud about what I already knew. I meant nothing to him but damn and hellish revenge. Had she managed to be so stupid to believe that he had changed? Men! Anywhere! Then you would fall for one's tongue and believe. It was the same in any part of the universe! It was suddenly a testosterone problem.

-They are offering freedom out of captivity if they surrender ...

I looked at Scarlet without words. Shit, again! They were looking for the hybrid!

-Don't even think about doing any nonsense like that! - Sereide spoke firmly looking at me.- No agreements are made with these creatures and escapes alive. The land you know will soon be another uninhabitable desert-like N'Tirlay.

Great! Really big! Could it get any worse?

-Really, human! Scarlet looked at me unfriendly. - If you do anything foolish, Zorack kills me.

Not hard? If only he could take his eyes off Klaus!

Did you see how Zorack looked at Klaus? Curse!

I was not jealous! Not even a little. I crossed my arms against my chest sighing.

-And since when does it matter to him? - I provoked hurt.- Did you realize that Zorack only knows that Klaus is alive and nothing else matters?

Ready. I had even said the words out loud! Patience if things were different in Édrin. I was a goddamn human. And that was exactly how intended to behave! I was holding on to pride very hard. I wasn't going to cry and wasn't even going to cry for someone who didn't care about me. It was absurd!

-That's not the point! - Sereide shook her head as if considering what to say and that made me hate not knowing. - Klaus was very important to Zorack. Political negotiation to guarantee the freedom of someone from a powerful family like House Ígnea has cost a lot of Confederacy bureaucracy. The ability of an entire race was in danger of disappearing.

"Really!" I replied without believing and looked sideways at that distant creature.

And could you negotiate with something like that? Since when? Ravenack ... my skin tingled with horror and disgust. I might as well throw up breakfast. That had kissed me on the ship when they were doing experiments ... I shook my head, refusing to remember.

-But ... What the fuck, Klaus.- I could be an Edrian, but there was still something deep inside me that protested furiously.-What the hell did you do?

He didn't have to be that rude. In general, Klaus was not like that. Klaus ?! How did someone dead come out of nowhere?

Klaus showed his face with striking features and the angry and suspicious expression that I didn't know yet.

-The human? Is this girl the human you were talking about? What does she mean to you? I wonder what the hell happened? Have you totally forgotten about me or what we mean to each other?

I could smell emotions that left me on the alert. Jealous! What the hell! Holy shit! Why did I start to believe that Klaus would be a problem for me? Or still a threat to Angel? Without knowing it, I didn't want my partner from the past to know who she was.

-You're just some human! You really don't believe you are going to deliver the information Ravenack wants and convince me to tell you who the hybrid is!
