Chapter 18 - The chosen one

-It's not somehow tolerable! - the old councilman's loud voice sounded irritated.

Willian Morgan avoided using his eyes roll. The Council was convened naturally. He bitterly thought of his foster daughter. He needed to demand any way to guarantee that a girl would not be hurt. Kassuim. Green eyes hurt could curse. With what pride does a girl not appear before the clan! Only the day had been exhausting and tense. Of course, some kind of thickness is expected from the girl. She was willful and stubborn. And she was no longer a child.

It was impossible that men sitting in their chairs could not notice. Embody the Council leader with the usual patience needed. They feared a girl. They knew of the power that her blood held. Willian once again experienced a terrible sound or mistake made in drawing a child from the blood family. He had promised Lizandra that he would not let them kill a girl. Only Kassuim seems to have decided to make this task difficult.

He is usually tolerant of guilt. It was in the design of the whole plot. He closed his mouth in a hard line, hiding a certain contempt. He was also a wolf. He could smell disgusted by the fear that hung in that room. The Council was concerned about the young woman's presence in the castle now that she was a girl. They hadn't seen anyone like her in years.

She was a half-breed, she possessed both magic and the ability to change form in her blood. Of course, like any wolf in adolescence, despair would do. She was a descendant of Primordials.

-I was loyal to this Council. For years, keep a girl hidden from everyone. She grew up with us. - The defence was in love.

They know it as tradition. A mestizo always belongs to the pack's alpha. Only they insist on making an even bigger mistake again. His words brought discomfort and heavy silence. And Will thought again about his nephews. The fact that he sought most in the Council was that Rick was chosen as an alpha. The mantle of leadership always belonged to the landlord. There was a small and important detail. There was no Richard who had saved a child, but Richard.

It was to be expected that the girl would have enchanted the boy. It just cannot be assumed that the Council's initial choice to bring the girl to live among them could be shaking with structures from an ancient tradition. Richard as the eldest son would be recognized as the future duke of those lands. The older members had welcomed the union of a half-breed to the overlord.

Kassuim against all expectations had changed all that. She had, to the Council's astonishment and horror, woken up with Rick's fury and dominant inner wolf. William also knew that all the elders' precautions in keeping a girl out of the eyes of the pack's future leader were not enough. He would find her. Hope involvement with intimate satisfaction. The forest was dangerous. He couldn't have imagined that a daughter ran away from the castle.

The law of destiny was never broken. Some guards cared for the safety of the people in these green lands, making it impossible for humans to access. Will be asked what their reaction to a mixed-race would be.

-The girl is reckless. Her stubbornness and arrogance for the costumes are certainly not appreciable qualities for a future mate of an alpha. The Council has already deliberated on the matter, Willian. The wolf sighed in disgust.

- We are bounded by our powers far from the magic centre you created. Sorcerers do not have the same weakness. This is the strength of a pack that has a mixed race. The alpha as his companion ...

Another little tolerant elder cleared his throat.

-There is no evidence that a mestizo does not have such restrictions. Again silence. Willian may well curse. They don't understand the importance. The alpha when sharing the blood of a mixed-race rule to completely dominate a change of form. Its ability would be extended to the other members. It was power. Freedom. For years, a war with sorcerers has caused deaths for rival species.

The wolves suffered from imminent extinction. As non-surviving women or were able to generate healthy heirs. Only one person could make a big difference. Even sorcerers faced difficulties hunted by humans. Their world was in danger. A union between species was a chance for survival.

-Don't discuss the matter again, Willian. The decision has already been made. A girl is not the right choice for alpha with blood that correlates in her veins. - Someone else selected angry.

Willian countered as words with irony and evident contempt.

-Are we so cowardly that we can't evolve? Our species is at risk ...

-Therefore, there is a need to choose an alpha company. Your nephew does not seem to have understood the detail very well.

This time, the silence was followed by low, disapproving comments. The ball turns out to be a complete failure with the absence of the heir. Once again, Willian assessed the possibilities. He knew that Richard is very irritated by the Council decision to decide the marriage again. Since the arrival of the Black Coral at the cove, the captain has avoided coming to the castle. The boy had chosen to camp in the forest and hunt after long months at sea.

It would have been providence from destiny if Richard found Kassuim. The day dawned. He avoids showing concern for his youngest daughter. It would only irritate the Council even more. Only Faith, her eldest, furious firstborn, had not agreed.

The forest was dangerous, there were chances that a guardian would attack a half-breed as if it were an enemy by sniffing magic in its blood. Another discussion ended with a busy night. Upsetting Faith refused to accept the marriage commitment. Willian certainly prefers Richard, so the boy doesn't seem to have any intention of taking root. His life was a ship's deck. After taking command of Gaia Negra, he dedicates himself to the craft with pleasure. Much more than would be advisable. It was no surprise that the Council manifested satisfaction in a union with Kaios. The man was powerful and his name was nominated for the Court of Succession.

The suggestion displeased very Willian. He does not agree with the policy adopted by their government to maintain the safety of beings endowed with magic.

They were gradually dying.

-I served this Council for years. My loyalty should not be questioned. The girl ...

A deep sigh of displeasure was followed by a low throat.

-Nobody here questions your loyalty, my friend. - The Council leader approaches cautiously. - However, compassion and care that seems to dedicate to this creature ...

A low, deep growl escaped Willian.

-God! - he shouted. - This flame-like creature has a name. She is my foster daughter. I will no longer consent to you. We are wolves. We always protect ours. The family above all.

The anger brought undecided looks to the Council. For a fleeting moment, a ray of hope lit up like Willian's tense features.

- These are old questions and have already been discussed. This girl is not sure of us. It was brought in for necessary reasons. The Council does not tolerate the presence of a mixed-race. She must not master a form of skill.

Will swore louder still inflamed.

- She is no longer a child. Like any wolf will dominate. Our people demonstrate skill in their early teens. Are you going to kill her? - The charge fell heavily on the premises.

Regan was perhaps the youngest elder present. He joined Willian with solidarity.

- We are not murderers, my friend. Peace, brothers. - asked apprehensively as he continued to raise his hands: - A girl will not be hurt or killed. It's just not tolerable, Willian. It is not natural. Our healers will just administer tear powder next to the aconite to delay the change.

Aconite? A wolf weed ...An herb had tuberous roots and its blue vesicle-shaped flower released a substance that weakened the wolves. Didn't they intend to kill her? Yes. It was just slow poisoning. Willian saw in his mind a daughter with tremors and shortness of breath. The poison used was used on arrows for a long time by hunters in the indiscriminate search for wolves that could kill. Hell! A daughter was a chipper. There were still those who called the wolf fairy. She was a female with a gift for communicating and controlling packs.

That was the Council's fear. Her scream as a child, when attacked, had awakened her predestined wolf. Richard. The Scarlet pack would be powerful because in addition to the gift of calm she still could heal. They were kind creatures, but wild and free. Willian sighed. He will never be able to learn Kassuim to respect traditions or obey customs. Now. A girl was also a witch. An Elemental witch with gifts turned to nature. His problems grew more and more.

He could bet it was still a Primordial. The high-pitched sound of trumpets echoed through the bustle and agitation. Part of the council approved the tall tower on the arrival of a man when the drawbridges were abandoned.

A single gentleman was greeted with enthusiasm and festive shouts. Willian continues to breathe. Her nose caught smelled of his nephew. Richard was back. And someone else. His astonishing eyes look at a flowery lane without being able to believe it.

Was it Cassie? Regardless of the growing unrest now in the Council, the alpha dismounted bringing the girl into his arms. Peasants and services bowed in a respectful bow. Surprisingly, how the trumpets echoed again brings good news.

The astonishment was one of absolute disbelief. It was hell like Rick's carelessness in defying the Council. The heralds announce to all clans also on arrival ... Did the boy have a boldness to choose a mate ?!

Hell, boy. What did you do?

- The Council will not accept, William. Your nephew must still obey the Elders. The voice now showed deep displeasure.

Will shook his head in amazement. He is no longer present in this moment, only fear. There was fear and revolt. They were going to end up killing a girl. He needed to get Cassie out of Scarlet as soon as possible.

-I will take the measures expected by the Council. - he said with a hard look. - Your intolerance for progress can cost us ruin. The plaintive outburst did not bode well. Before the end of the day, he must make sure that his daughter is distant and safe on the edge of the Star of Tomorrow. Faith would never understand.

-We will wait. But consider ourselves warned. - Regan showed regret. - If a girl is not removed from the alpha, the oldest will intervene.
