Black blood flowed out of Ning Shaoze's mouth nonstop. By his side, Ma Meiying's heartrending cries echoed within the room. None of the two realized that during those desperate times, the flow of time stopped in a split second before running back again.
However, after that split second freeze, Ning Shaoze felt the burden pressing onto his chest lightened so suddenly as if a hole was pierced into his throat to let him breathe. He drew in a sharp breath, his frozen limbs loosened and his eyes snapped open, the previous murkiness and darkness was nowhere to be seen.
Ma Meiying froze. "…Shaoze?"
Muddled, Ning Shaoze squeezed his eyes shut, his chapped lips parted ever so slightly. "Meiying…I…" He thought that he was going to die for sure but…what was going on?
As if holding onto the last straw, Ma Meiying crawled over as she reached out to his face. "Shaoze, Shaoze—are you okay? How are you doing?"
