Chapter 4 - Unlucky Soul 1

At least once per day, Ouyang Xueqing would always question her faith in luck. Seriously, did she cursed by The King of Hell or what?! If not, why the heck was she so unlucky?!

Ouyang Xueqing didn't know whether she should cry or laugh.

Throughout her entire life, she has been through countless life-and-death situation and plunging into danger just by being existing on Earth. She herself thought that it was truly a miracle that she could still be well and alive without any limbs missing.

On the day that she was born, all the plants around the General's manor was growing and the flowers were blooming even though it was winter.

On the other hand, thunder was striking the ground for three days straight and all the houses except the General's had burn marks on them.

They didn't know whether it was a sign of good or bad luck, but Ouyang Xueqing was sure that her life was cursed.

She had almost died after being born for three minutes because the physician holding her was having a heart attack and almost dropped her on the ground. If not for her grandmother catching her, there would be a hole in her skull.

When she was one year old, she was kidnapped by a purple lion beast that was searching for food for her cubs. If not for her grandfather, General Ouyang, risking his life to rescue her, she would surely became the cubs' food.

When she was three years old, there was a birthday party for her on The General's Manor, and because her grandpa was the Emperor's most trusted retainer and general, the birthday party was being announced through the mainland and all the most important figures on the mainland had come to celebrate.

There were piles of treasures, gifts and favors. Being a glutton she was, Ouyang Xueqing was so happy to receive a Spring Fruit.

It had become a sensation in the whole mainland, because Spring Fruit was a-once-in-a-thousand-years fruit that was blooming only on the peak of Forbidden Ice Mountain and the Spring Tree was guarded by the Ice Dragon.

It was said that Ice Dragon was a level eight beast that only the late Emperor Sheng Li had been able to subdue it.

It was such a precious fruit, one that consumed it would be granted eternal youth and strengthened their core and could make their cultivation improve by leaps and bounds.

Everyone were vying it, but exactly because nobody dared to confront the Ice Dragon, the emergence of Spring Fruit in the General's manor drew amazement and awe.

It was unknown what method the prince had used to get the Spring Fruit, but Ouyang Xueqing didn't care and insisted on eating Spring Fruit on the spot.

The fruit was small and covered by a slight glow that made it seem magical. People nearby that breathed its sweet and refreshing scent immediately feel relaxed and their fatigue diminishing.

Ouyang Xueqing almost drooled.

Then, she got her retribution for her gluttony.

When she cracked the fruit open, there were countless of Spring Bee on them. It was unusual, because Spring Fruit was highly toxic for the Spring Bee, but they were there, buzzing in annoyance.

Because Ouyang Xueqing had destroyed their new nest, she was bitten until she was black and blue.

The General was so furious that he almost beat the prince to a pulp. He only relented because The Emperor had came personally to apologize and granted Ouyang Xueqing the title of princess. It was a great favor, so no matter how mad grandpa was, he had to let the prince go.

It was to said that, even if she was so unlucky, she was pampered through her life and the prince had owed her a favor, plus even though she had no blood relation to the Imperial Royal family, she was, nonetheless, a princess of the mainland.

But unfortunately, even though she had ten guards protecting her and two servants following her whenever she went, there were no escape from all of her mishaps.

Her family had done all they could to cure her of her misfortunes. Praying on the temple, bathing on Holy Water, exorcising bad qi around The General's manor, yet everything had been in vain.

On her tenth birthday, her parents brought her to a famous shaman to get some help. They were desperate and had resorted to all kind of measures.

If someone had told them that they could help, they would have tried no matter how ridiculous and silly it was.

It was a complete coincidence that a shaman happened to pass by their mainland. It was said that shamans were rarer than snow in spring, that if one happened to meet a shaman, they would be blessed for life.

An advice from the shaman were priceless, once a good-for-nothing could be turned into a genius, a frail and sick grandpa could regain his vigor as if he's in his fourties.

They were considered half-God, immortal celestial being, the God's servant that is more divine than everyone. They could predict the future, prevent a disaster, making something from nothing, called wind and thunder. They were invisible.

Yet, no one has the grace to ever meet a shaman. They were shrouded with mysteriousness and no one could disrespect them in fear of the divine punishment.

Even their Emperor has to bow and greet them with utmost respect, let alone them.

Ouyang Xueqing too didn't know where her mother got the information of the shaman's arrival.

Because she was the princess and her bad luck was well-known in the General's manor and the imperial family, Ouyang Xueqing got a chance to get her line of fate read.

On the courtyard of the General's manor.

Clutching her small shoulder, her mother had repeatedly warned. "Qing'er, remember, you must be polite and leave a good impression to the shaman, okay? Don't be so unruly, at least remember you are a princess for the time you're there!"

Ouyang Xueqing almost puked out blood. What did mother mean by that?! Did she that unruly that she didn't deserve the title 'princess'? Did she not look like one?

Well, she had to admit that ever since she was small, she was kinda boyish, crude, and straightforward. Mainly due to her bad luck that pushed her mind to work differently than others, but Xueqing had a high sense of justice.

So high that she almost couldn't bear to see someone being treated unfairly, and that sense of justice had always gotten her into trouble.

Yet, she thought that she was not wrong.

What's wrong with beating the bully? What's wrong with defending the weak? She was the princess and the granddaughter of the General, for God's sake, she had a duty of protecting the weak and spreading justice to the world!

The ten-year-old Ouyang Xueqing clenched her fist and spoke righteously. "Don't worry, Mother! I won't beat the shaman as long as he's not bullying me!"

Poor mother didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She should have known not to put too much hope in her one and only daughter.

She was too unruly that she feared that someday she would offend someone that she shouldn't and got herself into a precarious situation.

She was just worried ah! This daughter of hers were so silly, innocent and so easy to fool. Yet she was so lovable that no one dared to correct her and they just let her do whatever she wanted and secretly cleaned up her mess afterward.

But this time was different. This was a shaman! The God's servant!

If her daughter was to offend them…she shivered uncontrollably and her grip tightened.

She tried to put her most serious expression to show the severity of their situation. "Listen Qing'er, when you're there, don't speak nonsense, you have to think it over ten times before speaking, okay?"

Ouyang Xueqing blinked innocently. That dazed expression were so adorable that she almost couldn't keep her expression straight.

That squishy reddish cheeks and pursed red lips, her daughter had to be the most beautiful child ever!

"Okay." Xueqing nodded firmly, but no one knew what was running through her mind.

Mother sighed in relief. She held her daughter's hand, and together, they got into the carriage to the Royal Palace.
