Chapter 8 - Prying Eyes

Then Stella suddenly feels a mental tab against she consciousness.

{What is it, Helene?} Stella asks the goddess of fairy's through telepathy.

{Ehm.. I just wanted to ask if you could maybe invite Mr. Ashen to join us in this conversation, Mrs. Stella.} A Shy feminine voice reveals the objective of this conversation.

{Oh, I understand. You're after his fluffy throne, right?} Stella immediately sees through the intention of the shy goddess as even she herself feels strangely attracted to touch the fluff ball that stands next to her.

{NO! nonononon Eh…. I…. I'm just curious about him! It has nothing to do with his adorab.....} Helene immediately tries to defend herself but ends up revealing her true intention by accident.

{HAHAHAHA! Knew it.} Stella laughs at the clumsiness of her fellow goddess.

While the two goddesses talked per telepathy a surprising change appears on the map created by Gurella.

A dark layer extends from the black needle which Ashen used to mark his domain. It is small but still clearly visible on the map.

This change causes the Arteus to frown and with him almost everyone got curios what the newcomer has done to piss him of.

This includes Stella.

Eager to satisfy her curiosity she closes her eyes and let her consciousness travel to her domain.

Her domain is on the continent Barlem and lies on the south coast. This makes her one of the closest neighbors of Ashen.

Once arrived, she focuses mind in the direction of Ashen's territory. To her surprise, as soon as she tried to look at his domain everything went black and she couldn't see or hear anything.

´Did he already place protections around is domain. ´ Stella though shocked as to how fast Ashen managed to put them up.

A bit disappointed she retracts her consciousness and returns to her main body.

Opening her eyes Stella looks at Marek next to her.

"He already put protections around his domain, stopping me from looking at it directly." She says.

This information surprised most of the present gods as the power needed to do this so quickly isn't a small amount.

The face of Arteus and some other gods grow serious after shortly closing their eyes, most likely confirming what Stella said.

At that moment an amused voice sounds through the hall.

"It isn't very nice to spy on others, don't you think so too." Ashen says as his figure seems to slowly grow out of the fluff from his throne.

His glowing blue eyes sweep over most of the gods around the table as if giving a silent warning, they then fixate at Arteus.

POV Ashen

From the moment I crated the fountain of darkness I already felt the presence of the other gods, so I gave the fountain an additional feature of blocking clairvoyance and similar abilities.

Arriving back at my fluff throne, I already feel several different consciousnesses poking at the defenses of my domain.

This annoys me a bit which led me to speak up.

"It isn't very nice to spy on others, don't you think so too." I say with an amused tone while looking every god who has probed my defenses in the eyes.

Every time my eyes meet with one of the others, I intentionally let out a bit of the lightning authority's destructive aura to scare them.

At the end I lock eyes with Arteus who is staring at me as if I was a just another criminal who is ready to be judged.

´Hmpf… A judge is only as powerful as the law that backs him up. If it can't overpower the one that is being judged, then his decree is no different from an empty threat. ´I think as I overpower the formless pressure coming from Arteus.

This gets a reaction out of him, a lone pearl of sweat runs down on the side of his forehead.

Satisfied with this I retreat on my fluff and change my attention to the storm goddess next to me.

I know that she too probed my defenses but I kind of like her personality, so she was excluded for my intimidation.

Not able to restrain her curiosity, Stella attempts to create a telepathic connection with me which I accept.

{What did you do down there? I certain that you wouldn't just put up such a strong shield to hide some wasteland and rocks.} She says over the newly formed link.

{You're right about that. I just so happen to own a race and took the chance to introduce them to this new world.} I explain casually.

{You "own" a race? And you "introduced" them to this world?} Stella asks with a tone that clearly hides her amusement.

{You know that this is going to set those uptight idiots off, right? They don't like stuff over which they have no control or knowledge.} She explains.

{That doesn't matter. There is almost nothing they can do to about it anyway.} I say with confidence.

Stella glances over to me with a raised eyebrow.

{Can't they just throw some holy light at them and be done with it?} She asks.

{Of course, they can, but for that to work this "Holy light" must first penetrate my darkness and even then, did I ever say where they come from or how many there are?} I answer with an evil chuckle at the end.
