Chapter 6 - Visits

The sun slowly emerged from the horizon, illuminating cities in a certain part of the planet Arsak, including the city of Mokul.

Alexander was lying on his bed in an upright, immovable position. The sunlight passed through some holes in the wooden boards in the windows falling directly on his face.

His eyes slowly opened as he felt sleepy.

After feeling awake he got up and relieved himself in the forest. Joseph and Blackie were still sleeping soundly.

Once finished, he washed his hands with some clean water before eating some fruit for breakfast and leaving the shelter. Before leaving, Alexander woke Joseph up to let him know he was leaving.

Joseph half asleep nodded his head before going back to sleep.

Alexander shook his head before leaving for his work.

As he walked through the forest, he felt his wounds hurt less. Which was good for him since he had to make great physical effort.

After leaving the forest, Alexander headed towards his work, which was a transportation branch located near the center of the city.

During the trip, he managed to go unnoticed by different groups of humans and Porskas in less populated areas.

Alexander would never let himself be seen by these people as it would only be the end of him. Some would sell him into slavery or simply kill him on the spot. Not for nothing was it one of the most dangerous cities on the planet.

Fortunately for him, Alexander did not have any problems during the rest of the course and arrived safely at the branch, which was a small field full of loads of all kinds; supplies, clothing, items, etc.

All these charges were protected by countless guards who were located in each corner of the land.

Alexander saw a crowd of people, mostly humans, carrying all kinds of objects here and there for the company.

Alexander approached a Porska supervisor who was reporting each member's work in the middle of the stage and spoke to him. "I'm here."

The supervisor turned around to see Alexander and quickly handed him his assignments with an annoyed look before telling him to go to work.

Alexander turned away from the supervisor and looked at the loads he was supposed to transport. He didn't give it much thought as he began his work. The other humans around him did the same. Although it was a lot of weight for a young man like him, he spared no effort.

Although the pay was considered quite poor, for Alexander it was too valuable since he could buy food with the money.

After two hours of carrying loads, Alexander decided to take a break. It was the same for the other workers. Alexander went to bed in a building nearby and opposite to the other workers.

He was concentrating on resting when he heard something that caught his attention from a group chatting quietly in the distance.

"Do you hear the new news?" A middle-aged man asked his companion sitting next to him.

"Hmm? What news are you talking about?" The worker asked confused since he didn't know what he was talking about.

"You really don't know? I heard from some Porskas that in a few days a human ship would land in this city to run some errands." The middle-aged man responded as he approached his companion so that his voice could not be heard as much, but the level of his voice was giving everything away.

The worker felt dazed hearing this information before becoming excited. "Really?! This is our chance to get out of this rotten place if we go with them!"

"Exact! We must survive a little longer to leave this planet surrounded by lizards!" The pair of men were immediately excited as a glimmer of hope appeared in their dark future.

Alexander listened to this information with many thoughts in mind. "A chance to leave." Countless plans quickly formed in his mind to escape together with Joseph and Blackie.

"What are you doing resting, damn worms? Move quickly!" The supervisor shouted from a distance after seeing the workers resting peacefully.

Alexander abandoned his train of thought and quickly returned to work, but there was endless determination in his eyes. Alexander wanted to quickly leave his job to return home and tell this news to his group.

Although it could certainly be false, what was wrong with a little preparation?

After three more hours of work, Alexander had left earlier than usual. Alexander quickly ran into the forest.

However, before long he had found something out of the ordinary. Alexander frowned as he saw the same old path a little altered.

Although the details were small, Alexander noticed them immediately. There were more branches than usual, some bushes were cut, and a multitude of footprints other than his own were miserably hidden behind the earth.

Alexander felt an uneasy feeling inside him and quickly hurried his steps. He didn't even take the time to hide his tracks as he ran at top speed. He pushed the grasses and branches that obstructed his view to the side.

As he got closer and closer to the shelter, he heard loud barking and moaning. Alexander felt as if a hammer hit his heart.

Before long, he saw the scene of his refuge.

A group of four Porskas accompanied by an adult human were outside the shelter. One of the Porskas who seemed to be the leader of the group had his eye injured and bleeding and in his right hand he was carrying Joseph, covered in wounds.

Blackie was inside the shelter terrified as he barked at the group and tried to get away from the adult human who was trying to grab him.

Watching this scene with his eyes wide open, Alexander clenched his fists so tightly that they began to bleed.
