"It's really risky but it'll work," the hooded boy said.
"I can't do that to her, she'll never be the same again," Karma said contemplating the boy's idea. "She's my sister after all...Axel or not,"
"So you want to stand here and let your sister die?"
"But wouldn't she die if we went along with her plan?"
"Don't be stupid, she'll be fine well at least physically. She'll actually be free for once in her life," the boy said nonchalantly. "I understand you have your doubts but if you don't act soon she'll definitely die,"
Karma looked down at Kami who had become thinner and paler than the last time she saw her. A tear almost fell from Karma's eyes as she looked at Kami's slender body.
"She's slowly dying and she doesn't even know it, she's probably got only a few weeks left in her,"
"Just let me think about it for a bit," Karma said holding her hand.
"Think about what?" a voice said from behind Karma, she quickly turned around to see her father standing there.
"Father?! What're you doing here?" Karma said shocked.
"I decided to come back after Kaname had calmed down but he's not here anymore," Father said with a sombre expression. "He's right though, I have failed as a son, a husband, and a father, it's all because I got so engulfed in setting myself free,"
"Free from what?"
"The sin of my past, I cheated death and now I'm paying the price for it and unfortunately, it had to be my own daughter, " Father said placing his hand on Kami's head. "I let my desires take control over everything I did and turned a blind eye to everyone else's suffering as if my suffering was above everyone else's, I'm sorry Karma. I never should have tried to stop you from doing whatever you wanted to do with your life. I made my choices recklessly and it didn't go well for me so I wanted to protect you from the fate I wove for myself but I will let you do whatever you feel is right," Father said then patting Karma on the head and leaving the room.
"Sooooo he's not going to apologize to the one lying in the hospital bed?"
"I'm sure he would want Kami to hear him," Karma said looking back down at Kami. "besides I think Kamiya would have a lot to say to him,"
"Can we assume that she'll even be able to say it? I mean look at her and all you're doing is staring down at her,"
"Cut it out already," Karma paused "wait you never told me your name?"
"Names are irrelevant, besides it's not like I need one,"
"What would I call you then?"
"Call me whatever you want, I don't really care,"
"Hmmm, how about Cole?" Karma asked after thinking for a bit.
"How did you come up with a name like that?" he laughed.
"I don't know, Cole just came to mind," Karma said. "then again Cole does mean 'victory of the people' maybe having you on my side will give me victory,"
"Don't be ridiculous, I'm not some lucky charm,"
"Who's to say that? You helped Kami and I win our battle against the Commander," Karma said with a smile.
"Quit grinning like an idiot," Cole said. "anyway I'll be back later there's...something I need to do,"
"Sure, see you later Cole," Karma said.
Cole turned off the matching black box he had and walked over toward the window of his tower. "Who would've thought she would've guessed my name on the first try? Maybe something is going on up there?" Cole said as he overlooked the war from his tower, with a sombre expression on his face. "Guess I won't need them anymore," he paused. "but I really should hold up my end of the bargain," he sighed.
*BANG BANG BANG*
"Right on time," Cole said as he glanced at the clock. It read 6:38 pm, Cole put his hood over his head and answered the door. A girl rushed inside and spoke quickly.
"You wanted to talk?" the girl said quickly and nervously.
"Wait, where's the other guy?" Cole asked.
"He was wounded in battle today so they sent me instead," the girl said. "ah I'm Miracle, second in command of the 34th company,"
"Second in command is a door mouse and the captain is as sly as a fox? Quite the dynamic, huh?" Cole said in a teasing tone as he closed the door.
"You said you wanted to talk, what do you want?" Miracle said jittery, biting the nail on her thumb.
"Tell your captain that I'm out, I don't need you guys anymore," Cole said bluntly.
"W-what?! You can't leave," Miracle said as her eyes widened. "the captain is wounded and we even built this tower for you and you just think you can leave like that?! No way,"
"I don't care if your captain is wounded or not, I said I'm leaving so I'm out," Cole said as he held the door open waiting for Miracle to walk out.
"Can't you wait till the captain get better at least?" Miracle asked in a pleading tone.
"Nope, I need to cut ties with you as soon as possible," Cole said rolling his eyes.
"I-I'll do anything, just please don't leave us yet!" Miracle said desperately.
"Anything?" Cole raised an eyebrow at her as he shut the door again.
"Um," Miracle said hesitating as she realized she put herself in a bad position.
"What? I won't do anything to hurt you,"
"W-what about my comrades?" Miracle asked, scared.
"Oh don't worry I won't make you hurt anyone on your side and just think if you do this for me I'll stick around until that captain of yours is completely healed," Cole said putting his arm around Miracle's shoulders.
"You will?" Miracle said.
"Of course, I'm a man of my word,"
"Then I'll do whatever you ask of me, that's within my power," Miracle said confidently nodding her head.
"Great, here's the plan," Cole said, smirking.
