Chapter 25 - Mother-Dearest

I wake up the morning I'm going to see my mother, I've never been more excited about anything. Mom is like the light at the end of the tunnel for me, she's been my best friend and biggest support line. Although after the separation, I wouldn't see her often despite being homeschooled in her house. Spending the day at my mother's house made me feel a sense of closeness with her again, growing up I was inseparable from her. I open my closet and pick out her favorite shirt. She bought it for me not too long ago. It was a sleeveless white shirt with roses around the chest area. I put on my favorite pair of blue jeans and put on a light blue cardigan. I did my hair in a high ponytail and put o her favorite blue earrings. Just as I got finished getting ready Gem came into the room.

"Ready to go?"

I took a death breath and said "ready as I'll ever be," Gem teleported us to Kaname's room. Once there I'm almost face to face with Kaname, he looks shocked.

"Wow, I-I didn't think you'd show," he says "listen Karma I just wanna say-"

"When do I get to meet mom?" I say cutting him off.

"Oh yeah right, come with me Kami doesn't know she's trying to get treatment so it's best that we go without her noticing," Kaname said looking out into the hallway. "Let's go," he said walking out of the room and down the stairs; I followed him down the stairs and out the front door. "Well the hard part is over now let's keep going," Kaname said while walking away.

"So where is she being treated?" I asked worrying for her.

"Somewhere secret, not in any hospital or clinic but I assure you the person treating her is a professional,"

"How do you know?"

"Well, they've done a good job before so I trusted them with the task and I think you guys have met before,"

"We have?" I said looking confused.

"I don't really know if I'm honest, he prefers to stay hidden unless he can get something out of it,"

"So who is this person?"

"We're almost there, just be patient," Kaname walked toward a tree and stomped his foot twice. The dirt beneath our feet moved and we fell into the ground. I fell flat on my back, meanwhile like a cat Kaname landed on his feet.

"Ow my back, a warning would be nice next time ya'know," I shouted at Kaname.

"Would you believe me if I said alright Karma we'll be falling underground now?"

"I'd think you were crazy, where are we though?" I said looking around the place was mostly metal besides the shoot we fell through which was dirt.

"An underground bunker of course, this is pretty much where I always am," Kaname shot me a glare, "don't tell Kami,"

"Bold of you to assume we actually ever talk without you there,"

"True, let's go," Kaname said helping me off the floor.

"What the hell was that?" A voice said coming from around the corner. "Oh it's you, and the third born in tow,"

"Luke!?" I said my jaw dropping, "How did you escape the attic?"

"You're brother got me out, doubt your father knows about it though,"

"How did you get him out?"

"Well after you left father was really preoccupied with figuring out where you went so I snuck him out,"

"How did you know he was in the attic?"

"He was wearing pure white under the bed it was easy to see. Also there's no way you would've healed that quickly so something was definitely up,"

"I see what you mean, wait where's mom?"

"She's that way," Luke said pointing behind him, I ran to my mother's bedside, "by the look on her face I assume that you haven't told her," Luke whispered.

"I couldn't bring myself to do it," Kaname said.

"Fine by me I'll do it," Luke said walking toward me.

"Wait Luke don't," Kaname said grabbing his shoulder.

"Let's just let her enjoy this,"

"But you what will happen when she walks up," Kaname nods, "if the girl turns into a black hole here I blame you,"

"Don't worry she won't," Kaname said looking at mother sleeping as I held her hand.

"What're you guys whispering about?" I said looking suspicious.

"Just guy stuff you know," Kaname said with an awkward smile, I didn't buy a word of what he just said.

"I was making it clear I'm not going back in that attic room," Luke said folding his arms.

"Don't worry for helping mother I'll ensure you'll never go back," I said smiling at him then looking down at mother.
