Chapter 9 - Kaname's Side

"Haru you can go back to your desk now," I told Haru, it would be a lot harder to find the file if she noticed me looking around.

"Oh but I'm-"

"Haru," I stopped her "you may go back to your desk now, I'll be helping my mother now so you can attend to your other duties," I said coldly to her. She got the hint and left.

"You didn't need to send her away so coldly Kaname," Mom says in a worried tone.

"It's fine, so what exactly do you do all day?"

"I have meetings all week but I also need to organize some files"

"Files? I could do them for you"

"Really?"

"Of course, you need to go to those meeting so I'll arrange the files for you"

"Thanks, Kaname, the files are in a room, down the hall, and to the left"

"No problem Mom"

"Won't you be bored in there by yourself? Oh I know I'll send an intern to help you"

"No, I'll be okay"

"Nonsense, Mika, could you come here please"

"Mom, I seriously don't-" A blonde girl rushed up to my mother. She looked about my age and was about 5'4.

"Yes ma'am, how can I help?" The blonde girl said

"This is my son, Kaname, he's going to do some filing but there's so many so I was wondering if you could help him?"

"I have the whole week, you don't need to help me"

"Oh no, I'll help and nice to meet you, I'm Mika" Mika extends her hand, I shake her hand.

"Well let's go I guess"

"Alright" Mika and I walk down to the room where the files are kept. When we get there I open the door to see piles of files that are taller than Mika. There are about 10 of them within the room.

"Wow, look they're like a whole inch taller than me" Mika stands next to a pile and measures herself with the stack.

"As I said, you don't have to help me" I start on a stack and look through the file, "if you really want to you could just go back to what you were doing before"

"I already told your mother I was going to help you and I really don't want to get people coffee today," Mika says as she starts on a stack too, "Are we supposed to open these?"

"You shouldn't, that's private information," I tell her while looking through files.

"So why are you looking through them?"

"I'll inherit this company and I like to know exactly who I'll be working with"

"Oh you're the one that'll inherit the company, I thought it would be one of the girls"

"And why is that?"

"Because I thought you'd fight with your father in the war"

I put down the file I'm looking at and turn to Mika, "Mika, how long have you been an intern here?"

"4 months, why"

"How about I get my mother to give you a job here?"

"Really, that'd be awesome" Mika eyes glimmer but go dull right after, "What's the catch?"

"What do you mean?"

"Oh please, there has to be a catch, there's no way you'd just offer me a job after 5 minutes in here with me"

"All you have to do is let me do this by myself" I walk Mika to the door, I look at Mika's blazer and see something inside. I grab the file out of her blazer and look at it. "Looks like I wasn't the only one looking for something. Mika, what were you going to do with this?"

"That's none of your business, give it back." Mika tries to grab the file out of my hands but I hold it over my head.

"I'll ask one more time, what were you going to do with this file?"

"I can't tell you that,"

"Fine by me, I'll just as this person myself then"

"Don't"

"Is that why you're working here? To get information about someone?"

"That's my file so give it back"

"Mind if I open it then?"

"If I wanted someone to see it, I wouldn't try to take it" Mika says folding her arms.

"You find the file really easily, I wonder how you did that," Mika looks away, I sigh "You know, out of the three of my siblings I'm the smartest"

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"You've been secretly organizing these files slowly throughout the 4 months you've been here" Mika turns her head to face me, "In the 5 minutes we've been here, I've already looked through 20 files which all start have combat powers. With them being in the same stack doesn't mean they've already been organized but your reaction gave it away." I open up the file she had been trying to take and my eyes widen.

"You're-"
