Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 expiration date

The final bell of the day sounded and everyone stood up from their chairs to leave the last class of the day. Olivia was still putting her supplies in her bag when Shay approached her. "You think she's your friend but she's just pretending. They all are. Eventually, she'll realize you're a loser and abandon you.

Olivia had had enough of her for one day, "What's your deal, Shay?"

"I don't like you, and soon I'll make sure no one else likes you either." She replied smugly.

"Good the feeling is mutual, stay away from me." She replied. She picked up her bag and turned her back to her aggressor to leave. Shay wasn't going to let her get away with that level of disrespect and reached for the chain around her neck from behind. But when her hand made contact with the silver it sent a shocking jolt of electricity through her hand causing her to cry out in pain. "Ow! You shocked me!" Olivia turned back to see her nursing her sore hand, "Serves you right! Next time keep your hands to yourself!" And with that she turned on her heels, and left her bully fuming behind her.

Outside the class Alessia and Alex waited for Olivia to join them. "What took you so long?" Alessia asked. "Oh, just gathering my things." She replied. Alessia noticed Shay come out after her and giving Olivia curse eyes.

"What did she say to you?" She asked.

"Nothing important, as usual." Olivia replied.

"Can I beat her ass now?" Alessia asked.

But it was Alex who answered, "No, you can not!"

"I wasn't asking you." Alessia stated, looking at him with bulging eyes.

'Stop trying to hurt the girl Less.' Alex thought,

but she Ignored him.

"Hey V, why don't we turn this dinner into a sleepover!" Alessia asked excitedly.

'What are you doing Less?' Alex thought, placing his fingertips on his temples in an attempt to relieve the pressure that was present since their lunch period.

'Trying to have some fun, you party pooper.' She thought.

"That sounds great. Let's do it!" Olivia replied excitedly.

"We'll have to get permission from mom and dad." Alex said, trying to reel his sister back in.

"I'm sure they'll be more than happy to oblige," 'once they find out who's coming to dinner' she finished in thought.

'Why do you have to complicate everything?' He thought.

'I prefer a world of excitement and adventure. It's not my fault you like everything to be mundane.' She thought.

'I like everything to be peaceful and not thrown into chaos.' He thought.

"Don't you agree Alex," Alessia asked.

Olivia turned to look at Alex. He hated when his sister put him on the spot like this. "Yes, our parents would love to have you." He said, giving up.

'That wasn't so hard was it Alex?' Alessia thought as they made their way to their cars.

'If this ends badly, I'm blaming you.' He thought.

'Me?!'

'Yes! You!' He thought.

'When everything turns out just fine, make sure you give me the credit for that too.' She thought.

"Do you want us to follow you to your house Via," Alessia asked. "You can gather your things and ride with us."

"No, that's okay. I want to spend some time with gran, since I'm going to be gone over night. I'll be at your place by six, if that's okay?"Olivia replied.

"Of course it is." Alessia said, wrapping her arms around her and giving her a kiss of the cheek. "I'll see you then."

They watched her get in her car and pull off.

'Wait til she finds out that's not her gran.' Alex thought.

'Really Alex?' She thought.

'What?' He sent back.

'She going to be heart broken.' She reminded him.

'You should probably think about how much she's going to hate us, when all this comes out.'

Alessia didn't want to think about her best friend hating her, but she knew it was a possibility. 'What if she never wants to see us again Alex?'

'We will just have to cross that bridge when the time comes.'

The whole situation made Alessia feel uneasy,as though their friendship had an expiration date, and the date was her birthday, at the latest.

Olivia drove home, thinking about the odd things that happened at school. She ran each oddity through her mind, as if she was a detective on a case.

First, Alex and the mind reading incident. She knew she didn't say it out loud. 'Does he really think I'm that stupid?' She asked herself. Second, the necklace that Alessia gave her. Sure she had given her things before, but usually there was an occasion and nothing as grand as this was.

Third, Alessia telling Alex to shut it, when he didn't even say anything. They were siblings, but even that was a little over the top.

'Could Alex read minds?' She asked herself. Maybe that's why he got the invitation for the extra secret school.

Which was the fourth item, on her list, what kind of university doesn't have a web presence? Also, everyone, with the exception of Carmichael and herself didn't get an invitation. She really didn't view him as one of her close friends. He was a transfer student this year and Alex introduced them.

Item five, they all looked like they were having an unspoken conversation at the lunch table. Was she imagining it? It didn't seem like it to her.

Item six, Alex's outburst at the lunch table, not once, but twice. Alex never reacted in that manner, NEVER!

Item seven, a sudden invitation to dinner after the outburst. Maybe that's what he forgot to do, and why he had the outburst. He forgot to invite me and felt like crap about it.

Item eight, the necklace that Alessia gave her, really did shock Shay when she tried to snatch it off her neck. Who was she kidding, she enjoyed it very much.

Item nine, the dinner got upgraded to a sleepover that one wasn't so suspicious, she had slept over plenty of times. Why did this time feel different to her? Almost like there was something else planned. Should she cancel and stay home just to be safe? Or was she overthinking everything? One thing was certain, something weird was going on and she just had to get to the bottom of it.
