Chapter 4 - Chapter Three

"Morning." I walked out of Maxii's room and into the living room. Maxii was still asleep but that was expected. Futaba on the other hand had made breakfast, got dressed, and look somewhat presentable at the hair. She looked a little tired but she always did. "Morning. I see you made breakfast." "When don't I and where's Uncle Maxii?" "He's still asleep." I replied while making my way to snag a plate. "Did you break Uncle Maxii again?" I choked. What exactly does she know?! For a twelve year-old she has her way to find some mature stuff. I gave her a worried smile and just glared. "I'll take that as a yes." She got up, walked over to me, and dragged me to the couch. "I want more story!" "And I want breakfast in peace and wanted a family growing up, but I didn't get what I wanted now did I?" "No." "Okay then." I got out of her grip and went back to breakfast, to with she wasn't pleased with me doing. How did I know? She gave me her genuine 'I hate you' glare from the couch. I love her but sometimes I swear she acts more like Maxii than me. I finished my breakfast and checked up on Maxii, who woke up but was so sore that he stayed in bed. "You hungry?" "Alastor what do you think." "Holy shit your voice is raspy." "Asshole, bring me breakfast. Since it's your fault I feel like absolute shit." "Yes master Maxii." "Smartass keep it up and it will be that way." I left his room to bring him some breakfast, and on my way back I gained a small follower. "Uncle Maxii, dad, I want to hear more of the story." "Futaba you will I promise." Maxii being him, just slowly sat up. "But I want to hear more now." "You will." "But-" "Futabura you will. Keep bugging me about it and you won't."

I accidentally made her cry. Futaba I didn't mean to growl at you I swear, forgive me. "Alastor?" I didn't reply I just stared at where Futaba was. "Alastor help me get dressed, then I'll go talk to her." I nodded my head and grabbed his clothes, waited for him to dress himself, then I followed him into the hallway to the living room. Well I stayed in the hallway while he went in the living room, I wanted to hear if she was alright. "Hey, you all right?" "G-go away." "Futaba you and I both know he didn't mean to growl." She didn't say anything, she just stared at the ground the whole time Maxii was trying to talk to her. I take my statement back from earlier, she acts like me on somethings. This went on for twenty minutes, she did stop crying but she looked completely emotionless. I couldn't help but feel guilty, I knew I caused it so I knew I had to do something. I, without thinking, walked around the corner of the hallway to the couch and hugged Futaba. "I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry." She stayed still, said not a word, nor did she gain any emotion. I knew she was upset but I knew a way to fix it, I think. "You want to hear more of the story, I'll tell you more. And you know better than anyone else, I only growl when I'm annoyed. I didn't mean to growl at you I promise, I was just annoyed." She was still the same, I was about to pull away when she hugged back. "I should have just listened." We pulled apart to her sweet smile. "If it is okay now can I hear more of the story?" "Umm I still have to eat and somebody else needs to bathe, {cough} Alastor {cough}." I smiled at him with that pure innocent smile, that never works on him. "Go Alastor." "But-" "Now." I whimpered as I walked out to the bath, stoping at the beginning of the hallway. I glanced at Maxii who was getting slightly annoyed with me before I continued my walk to hell. I cheat ran my shower by only washing my hair, to which Maxii knew I was gonna do. I was sitting on my bed when Futaba came in. "Dad?" "Child?" "I know I have heard this story before but can you tell me how you and Uncle Maxii met?" "Sure...." "What's wrong?" She was now sitting next to me, staring at me with worried eyes. "Yeah sorry just happy memories turning sad." I smiled her sweetly, then started my story.

"Alastor come on, you'll only be out there for ten minutes." "Kanna I don't wanna go! I don't wanna!" So you may be wondering what eleven year-old me was arguing with the trillions years-old dark angel. Well it's a long story, so I'll summarize it for you. I had spent the first ten years of my life in an interrogation room in a basement with no windows or humane lifestyle. My brothers father tried to kill me, to which he failed. My escape was the first time I saw the sun. I almost went blind, and so I refused for a year to go outside. Now Kanna is trying to force me to go outside to meet someone new. "Kanna I don't wanna go! Please just let me stay in here!" "Alastor." She crouched down to my level and smile sweetly. "You need to make some friends. One day I won't be here and you'll need someone to watch over you." "B-But!" "Alastor please." We shared glares, her's of pleading and mine of fear. After what felt like an entity, I gave in. We walked down the road, with me occasionally stopping, for about five minutes or a century in my mind. "Hey Maxine!" Who's Maxine? A young woman with short chestnut hair and orange turned her head and smiled at us. Is this Maxine? "Kanna! Is this who I think this is?" The woman turned to me. Kanna? "This is my nephew, Alastor." "Hi Alastor, I'm Maxine." "H-hi." I replied quietly. "Alastor is extremely shy, so I thought it would be nice for him to meet people his age." "Well if you like he could meet Maxii." Who's Maxii? Kanna?! I know she can hear my thoughts but I can tell she knows what's running through my mind. "Speaking of him, where is he?" "Maxii had gotten a really bad scar and it keeps getting infected. I was just on my way to your house to see if you had anything that would help." "I do." Kanna turn into her thoughts, it looked like she was debating on what to do with me. Kanna I don't want to go with her! Even if you trust her. Kanna crouched down to my level, I knew that she was gonna send me with Maxine. I did something I have learned to be good with, I ran. I ran as far as I could before my legs felt like they were gonna break underneath me. I should be safe here. For there is no way either of them could find m-. Before I finish my thought a dog came and sat next to me. I didn't know there were stray dogs in the forest. Just then the dog transformed, and the figure next to me was... Maxine?! "H-how did you?" "Alastor you and me are alike. We're both dog demons who can't let others know what we really are." "Y-You and Kanna talked about me behind my back." "Not quite." "What?" "I knew your father, mother, and Kanna." Mom and dad? "Then you can tell who the were?" "No, sorry I was told not to by your mother. I can tell you though the were good people." She looked at me with eyes of sorrow, which almost reflexed mine. "W-where's Kanna?" "Kanna went to grab some herds for Maxii and asked me to come get you." "A-Alright." I gave up and walked with her. Along the way we got a descent conversation in; it was about this Maxii boy. He was a half demon, whose father also died to protect. This boy was so... different from how I heard half demons to be like. We got to her house a little bit later. Funny, when I was with Kanna it to forever to get this far but not with Maxine. Maxine's house was a grayish color, it had a small garden which had nothing compared to Kanna's, and it had a small path which lead to a crematory. "Come on, Kanna should be here in a little bit." I nodded my head and followed her in. The inside of her house had some ancient looking stuff, but it was mainly modern. Maxine had just went into the kitchen when the door had been knocked on. Maxine walked back out of the kitchen and to the door. "Shit, ummm." She started looking around which wasn't a good sign. "Alastor go up stairs and enter the door on your left. Stay in there till I say come down, hurry." I did as she instructed. The room I was told to enter had a young boy that looked to be my age. He also looked almost identical to Maxine, the only difference was his hair was a little brighter at the roots and turned darker at the tips. He looked to be in pain; then it dawn on me. This boy was Maxii. I could hear faint hollering from down stairs, and then a who are you from Maxii. "I-I'm A-Ala-S-Stor." Good going Alastor! You stuttered your own name, for that makes great first impressions! Maxii looked like he was in thought. "Oh, Your name is Alastor. I'm Maxii." "I'm aware." He looked at me confused then once again like he was in pain. I remembered what it was like to be incredible pain, so I wanted to help. "If you want me to get you anything ask." "Can you get a glass of water? The cup is on the dresser." I went over to the dresser and grabbed the glass. Should I ask where to get the water or? I thought about it for a minute then made my mind. I put my hands together and let my magic work. I let ice flow through my left hand and fire in my right, so if my math is right I should have water. I looked down and had a glass of water. I took the glass back to Maxii. "How did you do that without leaving the room? Are you like Cerberus?" "According to what I saw of my father's; I am actually related to Cerberus." He smiles and laughs slightly. Maxine walked into the room to see us talking; which I scared the hell out of me cause I didn't see her. "I see you too are getting along." "Hi mom." I turned my head between the two trying to figure out what to say. "Umm.. this may seem rude, but why is Alastor here? Who is he related to? How do you know him?" Maxii looked just like Kanna when I told her I never met my parents. "Alastor is Kanna's nephew. She said he needed friends his age, and you are around the same age as him." Maxine sure is sweet. Maybe Maxii is too. "Oh alright." Maxine excused herself from the room a few minutes later. When she returned, Kanna was with her. She had the herb that supposedly help cure large wounds, and boy did it sound like the herb was biting him.

The next day I begged Kanna to take me back to Maxine's. "But I thought you hated going outside?" Her question was valid. I still hate the sun, but Maxine was really friendly to me. Plus I wanted to know more about Maxii. "I do but....." I couldn't tell her. I thought she would be mad or upset that I wanted to go over there and not staying here helping her tend to her garden. "Hehe," She laughed gently, "I'm assuming you want to actually meet Maxii, or at least get to know him better." I hesitantly nodded a yes to her. She smiled and told me to wait a little bit, then we'll go. I don't realize how excited I was to hear that until we went to the garden. Kanna had stopped her usual humming to tell me I was nearly bouncing around her garden, and to be completely honest, I blamed the plants. It took one hour to water the whole garden, Kanna said it would take ten minutes to get to Maxine's house, so she said not to be in a rush to leave. I grabbed two mangas and my iPod to take with me, Kanna grabbed her purse that consisted of many different things. We than began our trip, but the thing I wasn't liking about it was how many people were about. Kanna almost lost me twice; I also almost had a panic attack but Kanna helped me. It took fifteen minutes but we did make it. Kanna knocked on the door while I stood behind her. Why did I get so nervous? The door opened minutes later to Maxine. "Oh Kanna, I didn't know you were coming over." Maxine looked down at me, "And I see you brought Alastor with you." Kanna smiled gently at me then at Maxine. "He had asked if he could come over, so I brought him." Maxine invited us in after that. She told me that Maxii was in his room, and that her and Kanna would be down here if I needed anything. I didn't waste time getting up the stairs to the room I was in yesterday, only this time I knocked! "Enter," was all I heard before gently opening the door. "Oh, your back. I thought I would have had to con my mom to taking me to Kanna's. I'm glad you're back." His smile was pure and innocent. Some twist reason made me wanna taint that purity, but even I have restraints.

We talked for a while, hell we got on like there was nothing to it. It made me wonder why I was scared of it. It was 5:13 when Kanna called me down stairs. "Hey Alastor before you go, can I ask you question?" "You just did though." "Can we be friends?" His question shocked me. Friend? I was confused but excited. "S-sure." He laughed at my response. We both made our way down stairs, but what we saw we didn't expect. Maxine looked like she had been crying and Kanna looked ready to leave. It didn't feel as if someone had got into a fight, but someone said something sad. I wonder what happen.
