Lorenzo crashes the Bladderwort's party and turns it upside down in ninety degrees.
THIRTY-SIX
"Evening, my dear guests. I apologize for the short interruption" Brad said after succeeding in calming himself down but it appeared to me that he would rather be anywhere but here.
"It's cool with me" Lorenzo raised his glass lazily and winked at them with a mischievous smirk.
Janet went out of the crowd and stood behind a lady who was wearing a long, cream fishtail dress that hugged her curves.
Janet slowly took out a box of matches from her grey purse and I nodded at her for confirmation of any onlookers.
"We'll continue from where we stopped. Now, with the gratitude engraved on our hearts, we will cut this-"
Lorenzo gave me the go sign and I quickly whispered "Proceed" into the earpiece.
In less than a second, the whole building went into complete darkness and I smirked as the voices began to murmur.
Janet took the opportunity and lit one stick of matches on a cloth which was inside her purse and threw it on the floor.
I purposely dropped the glass that was in my hand and it crashed to the floor. I put my hand in my mouth and exaggeratedly screamed "Fire!!!".
Everyone ran in opposite directions, some going left, others going right, some to the door and a few even went under the table.
I walked over to Lorenzo amidst the entire upheaval and he planted a small kiss on my forehead.
"Good job, mi Amore, enjoy the party," he remarked and stepped out of the hall.
I looked around the dimly lit hall, barely able to see anyone from all the buzz happening. I turned my head when I heard a familiar voice calling my name.
"Rosa!! Rosa!!" the urgent screams could make one thing that I was kidnapped or something.
"Are you okay?" Chris pushed past the running bodies and held my face in his large hands when he got to me.
"I cawn't spweak vhen you're olding mwe like tat" I muttered and he quickly loosed his hands around my cheeks to give me some space to breathe.
"I'm sorry. I was so worried about you" he apologized with the light from outside shining over his face.
"We need to find a safe place to stay," he said.
"Oh come on!" I spat when somebody bumped into me from behind.
"Let's go," he said and dragged me away from the crowd.
"SOS, at the circuit box" Lily whispered into the earring and I stopped in my tracks.
{Lily's POV}
I stepped out of the hall after making sure no one saw me because they were all busy watching the drama between Lorenzo and Brad.
I turned left down the hall without minding the camera because I have already changed the footage into an empty hall before I came here.
I was quick to locate the circuit box but as I was about to turn the switch down, Rose ordered me to stop so I did.
I kept on tapping my heel impatiently as I waited for the order to continue for the plan.
We were doing a voice chat when Lorenzo first told us about the plan and we immediately agreed to it because it was going to be the best gift we could give the Bladderworts for their stupid twenty-fifth-anniversary celebration.
I was about to ask Rose what was the delay for when she whispered for me to proceed and I did with a smirk on my red-painted lips.
I wasted no time and pulled the switch down and in the blink of an eye, everywhere went completely dark. Noises began in the hall and it went in a total outcry.
I set my watch to five minutes and waited by the box while cleaning my nails and chewing my gum.
"What are you doing here, babe?" I heard Grayson's voice and he came out from the shadows.
The shock that hit my body was enough for me to still for a second and blinked rapidly at him with my mouth hanging open.
When I got a hold of myself, I quickly called for help in my earpiece while keeping my eyes on him.
His brown eyes waited with suspicion for me to answer his question.
What was I doing here?
{Rose's POV}
"W-what's wrong?" Chris asked when I stopped suddenly.
"Umm...Look there" I pointed at nothing in particular and when he turned, I pushed him a little bit hard which made him stumble.
I didn't wait for him to get his balance back before I ran away from him and headed towards the circuit box.
What can I say? I did the first thing that came to mind.
Lily needs help and if I don't get there in time, she is going to be in big trouble.
I thought as I tried my best to run in the stupid heels Regina forced me to wear and holding the long dress in my hands.
As I was running past a table, I heard a silent voice saying,
"Help!"
I stopped for a bit but just decided to ignore it and go help my sister but then my father's voice interrupted.
'If you try to save your life at the expense of others, you're already dead' He said to us one night when we were up, watching a late night movie.
In the movie, a man sacrificed his best friend to a demon in order to get rich and be famous but later died in the end.
So he was telling us the lessons we should learn from it just the way he does whenever we watch a movie. He would sit us down after it and tell us the moral lesson to be learned from it.
I sighed and trotted back to the table where the voice was coming from.
"Please help me!"
Damn father and his habit of making one feel guilty!!
I bent down to remove the table cloth and widen my eyes when I saw who was under it and crying like a little child.
Under the table, sat Regina who was holding her knees and rocking her trembling body while series of hot tears fell from her mascara eyes.
"Please don't do this" she whispered and her lips quivered.
"Regina?" I called out in shock.
"Who-who is that?!" she looked up but her eyes settled at nothing, in particular. I raised my eyebrow at the lost look hiding beneath her eyes.
"It's me, Rose. Are you okay?" I moved forward to hold her but she viciously slapped my hand away.
"Don't touch me, I know you are here to take me back down there. I will not go!! she said frantically as her eyes darted from left to right.
"What? No, I will not do that. I'm here to help you. Trust me, here, take my hand" I brought my hand forth and she hesitantly looked at it.
"Come on" I urged.
She finally took my hand after some minutes of convincing and I took her to sit on a nearby chair while she gripped my hand as though it was her lifeline.
"Gina!!" I heard Will's voice coming from somewhere and I squinted my eyes so I could spot him.
"Will, over here" I called and waved my free hand so he could locate me.
"Gina!" he said in relief when he got here and saw his little sister.
She was quick to jump on his arms and embraced him very tightly. He stroked her hair and whispered something into her ears.
I took the chance, escaped from there, and quickly went down the hall to where the circuit box was located.
I paused when I saw a figure standing in front of Lily and when she spotted me, she signaled for me to do something about it.
The figure saw her weird expressions and turned back to see who she was making faces at but I was out of there before he turned entirely and hid behind a pillar, making sure he didn't see me.
"Who was there?" I heard Grayson asking Lily.
"Nobody. No one" she quickly squeaked out.
Think, Rose. Do something.
I chided myself and my hand mistakenly hit an object. I looked down and saw the fire extinguisher staring right at me and a wild smirk entered my lips.
I took off my heel and broke the glass that protected the fire extinguisher. I pulled it out, turned it on and ran down the corridor.
"Fire!" I screamed and released the extinguisher all on Grayson when he turned back.
"What's going on?" he began coughing as he tried to avoid it but I followed him swiftly wherever he dodged to.
"There's a fire, sir" I yelled while Lily rested on a wall, laughing her guts out.
"What?! Are you crazy? There's no fire here" he screamed and Lily fell to the ground from too much laughing and I was barely able to hold mine in.
"Oh yeah, sorry. Maybe it's in the hall. Why don't we go check?" I said and he ran down towards the hall while I chased after him with the extinguisher as my weapon.
After I succeeded in sending him away, I went back to Lily who was still clutching her stomach while laughing hard.
"You are one crazy bitch!" she said as she stood up.
"You're welcome" I winked.
"High butt, idiot," she said and we slapped each other's butt while giggling.
"I'm heading back to the hall, take care of things here," I said.
"Roger that, Red" she saluted and I went back into the hall.
As soon as I stepped in, the lights went back on, revealing the hall of the Bladderwort.
Brad and Avalor were both seating on the stage, starting at the beautifully destroyed cake which was splattered all over the floor with the icing staining the carpet.
Will and Chris were by Regina's side who was still rocking herself on the chair while her eyes were distant. Their suits were either stained with drinks or food and their perfectly gelled hair was now messed up badly.
Grayson was in a corner, still coughing from the fire extinguisher attack and dusting the white stains off his suit.
The maids were all scattered around the hall, some on the floor with their white outfits fully stained and some were just standing, still shocked at the disaster.
The urge to fall on the floor and laugh at all of their faces was so enticing but with great strength, I resisted it.
All of a sudden, Brad cursed.
"Fuck you, Lorenzo Lentino Cantos!"
And we succeeded,
In making the Bladderwort's twenty-fifth anniversary into a huge catastrophe.
