Chapter 1 - 1

"Mom what the heck?! You're really going to leave AGAIN?!"

The blonde haired mother sighs on the other end, "I'm sorry sweetie, there's a new ca-"

Tears stream down the teens porcelain cheeks. She wipes the years quickly but more tears fall.

She hates how her mom is always working. She just wishes they were on big happy family again.

A call interrupts her breakdown. She sniffles and answers quickly so no suspicion is sensed. "Hey Ian!" she answers fake happy to her best friend on the other end.

"Hey Jazzy! I'm outside. Let's go girlll!" She looks out her window and waves at home before grabbing l her essentials like her phone, charger and backpack.

Jazzy walks down the long stairs and hopes and crosses her fingers hoping her moms boyfriend isn't at home. But sadly as she descends the stairs she hears the sound of the tv.

She quietly tip toes to the front door but before she can exit the house, she hears the loud, booming foot steps of her mother's boyfriend.

Liam's fingers nails dig into her arms, causing her to  be unable to move away from him. She begs him to let her go and she can feel his drunken breath against her neck.

She whimpers as he gets closer to her.

His voice haunts her,"Where do you think you're going bitch?"

"School." she manages to choke out as pain is radiating all over her body.

He bangs her head against the wall and walks away. She stands there on the floor, stunned and unable to move.

She's not shocked since this has been going on forever.

But whenever he's stressed or just she makes the slightest movement he'll hit her.

She's gotten used to it but it still hurts.

He wasn't always like this.

He was nice at first.

He would buy her gifts.

Seeing how it was back then she had realized it was all a game.

He wanted to gain her trust so that he could one day betray her.

The first night he walked into her room and slide into bed, she didn't think too much of it.

Until he stated touching her

She froze and that day has forever been etched into her brain.

She was 10.

Her phone vibrates causing her to come back to reality.

Those painful memories were shoved to the back of her mind. For now, until they would take over once again.

She rushed outside.

She gets into Ian's car and he greets her with a cheerful smile but that smiles fades into worry when he sees the bruise on her forehead.

"Hey Jaz-Hey are you okay?! You have a nasty bruise on your forehead."

She laughs it off, afraid to speak up,"I bumped into the wall. I was just being stupid. Don't worry about it."

Ian nods, he doesn't fully believe her but doesn't want to overwhelm her further. He's tried to confront her before but it only angers her.

And he doesn't like fighting with his best friend.

They arrive at the school in no time and exit Ian's car.

"Jazzy! Ian!!"

The sudden shouting surprises them but they smile when they see where all the commotion is coming from.

Cleo.

They've been the three Musketeers since they started kindergarten.

Cleo is the most adventurous in the group.

At first Jazzy was shy around her but now Cleo's sassy attitude has grown on her.

Cleo runs up to them and wraps them up in a group hug,"Hey!! I missed you both!! Arizona was boring. I can believe I missed the first week of school!"

Cleo had missed the first few weeks of school to visit her grandmother. Ian had only missed the first week. While Jazzy was left to fend for herself.

She hasn't even been on vacation since she was 8. But she was just glad to see the whole gang back together once again.

"Don't get me wrong, I hate school but I'm just glad to see you guys again."

They laugh as how excited Cleo is to see them. Of course they missed her. Who wouldn't miss her bright, bubbly personality?

She was so full of life and that's why Jazzy enjoyed her company.

They link arms and enter the school walking to their lockers. "First period?"

Jazzy take out her schedule,"Um English with Mr.Flock."

Ian smiles,"Yea me and Jazzy have the same class."

Cleo groans as she closes her locker,"Fuck you guys. I have French."

The bell rings and Cleo heads to French while Ian and Jazzy head over to English. Mr. Flock is a tall, skinny man with more hair on his face than on his head.

Jazzy and Ian take a seat in the back, and begin chatting away while the teacher waits for all the students to gather in.

"How was Paris?"

Ian's mom is a fashion designer and often takes her kids to events with her. She can't bear to leave them alone with a maid.

Ian grins, "It was great! My mom was really busy getting the clothes ready but for the last two days of us being there she took us to go see some attractions like the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre. It was so stunning. I'll show you pictures at lunch. I know I already showed you some but my mom just downloaded some pictures from my camera. You haven't told me what you even did while I was gone.

Jazzy smiles sadly,"My mom was really busy so I stayed home and watched YouTube when I wasn't at school."

Ian gives her a reassuring pat on the shoulder, "I'm sorry. You should've came with us. I'm sure my mom wouldn't mind."

"Thanks Ian but I wouldn't want to intrude on your family vacation."

Before Ian has the time to answer a boy they've never seen before walks in. "Class we have a new student. His name is Jay. I hope everyone will treat him kindly."

The new kid walks on over to sit in front of Jazzy. He offers her a dazzling smile. She looks him up and down, not bothering to offer him a smile.

"He's probably another one of those popular guys. He looks like a jock,"Jazzy tells herself.

Ian introduces himself instead.

"Hi I'm Ian. And this is Jazzy," He holds his hand out and Jay gladly shakes it.

Once the class ends, Jazzy rushes out, leaving Ian alone with the new kid.

Ian's P.O.V

"I don't think your friend likes me very much,"Jay says as we walk out of the classroom together.

I laugh awkwardly,"She's very closed off and shy. Don't worry about it."

I mean, it's true.

Jazzy is majorly closed off and hates making new friends.

She insists she's fine with the friends she has and I couldn't be more flattered, but I do want her to work on her communication skills.

Jay nods, not seeming to fully believe me.

We walk off to p.e together and I point out things he should know as we walk towards the locker rooms.

Jazzy's P.O.V

I don't really like changing at all. Everyone can see all my bruises. Spots of purple and yellow scattered all over my body.

Like flowers blooming all over my body.

I take off my shirt and put on a blue tee with the schools mascot and name on it.

I grab my hoodie and out it on over my blue tee.

Then I put my black sweatpants on.

I feel a sudden pain in my head when I'm pushed against the locker and I look up to see Tiffany there.

"I want you to fucking stay away from the new kid Jay. He's mine and he would never fall for an ugly bitch like you,"she spits at me, his eyes burningbinto mine.

"You don't need to worry about anything. I don't want him," I spit out at her before running out of the locker room.

The laughter of Tiffany and her friends echoes in my ears.

But I won't cry. I can't let them win this time.

So I just suck it up.

I walk out into the gym and take my place next to Ian.

"I think the next boy likes you,"Ian whispers to me as Ms.Anderson starts to take roll.

"He doesn't and I don't even like him," I say back, glaring at him.

Why would I ever like him?

I barely even know him.

Ian shakes his head,"You're doing it again."

I raise my eyebrow in confusion ,"Doing what?"

"Shutting people out. Like for one you never told me what happened to your cheek."

I scoff and turn away,"I said I fell down. End of discussion."

"Jaz-"

"Do you two have anything to share with the class," Ms.Anderson ask sternly.

We both shake our heads,"Good now pay attention. Mr.Sparks class will be joining us so we could practice some soccer outside. Pick a partner from his class. And begin."

We all nod and Ian pulls me away to go find partners for ourselves. Cleo is in Mr.Sparks class so that's good. Maybe we can ask to be a group.

Ian walks towards Cleo and Jay. Oh what luck I have.

He'll only cause me more trouble.

And I'm not too keen and getting beat up by Tiffany and her clique. Again.

"Cleo come be my partner," Ian says quickly and pulls me towards Jay.

"Okay Jazzy you can be partners with Jay." I give Ian the death glare as I walk away with Jay. I am not looking forward to this.

Ian has been playing matchmaker all day and I am not in the mood.

Ian walks away with Cleo and leaves me and Jay in awkward silence.

"Are you okay??"

"I'm fine,"I snap at him.

"Why did I ever do to you?!" Jay says, visibly confused.

I roll my eyes,"You wouldn't understand. I'm going to go get the ball. We don't even have to fucking talk to each other."

As I walk away, I feel a guilty but I try to push that feeling away. I don't wanna be a bitch but Tiffany will just beat me worse.

And I have much bigger things to worry about.

Jays P.O.V

Jazzy storms off.

She's a confusing but I'm hoping we can get closer.

My thoughts are  interrupted when a blonde chick walks in front of me, a smile plastered on her face,"Hey I'm Tiffany, what's your name?"

She's chewing her gum way too loud and obnoxiously.

"Um Jay," I say, backing away from her but every step I take back she comes closer to me.

She giggles even though nothing I said was remotely funny,"You wanna be partners??"

"I'm sorry I already have a partner."

"Who? That ugly chick Jazzy. C'mon just be my partner."

"Who gave you the right to disrespect someone?! What did she ever do to you?!"

Why would she even be mean to Jazzy. I haven't seen Jazzy talk to her all day.

She scoffs and rolls her eyes,"Just her presence bothers me. She should've just killed herself already."

I hear a muffled sob behind me and I turn around.

Jazzy has tears streaming down her face. She's runs off across the field. I run off behind her ignoring that blonde bitches voice trying to lure me back.

Jazzy P.O.V

I hate Tiffany. I don't even know what I did to her.

I run off to the nearest bathroom and slam the door behind me.

I cover my mouth to drown out my sobs.

I don't know why she hates me.

We used to be friends but now she hates me.

A knock on the door interrupted my mini breakdown. I quickly shut my mouth and try to silence my cries.

The person knocks again,"Jazzy? Are you in there? I just want to help."

"G-Go away Jay," I yell back, recognizing his voice.

"I'm not leaving here until I know you're okay. Just talk to me!"

He keeps knocking so I know I have no choice but to go outside. He'll draw too much attention

I hesitantly walk out of the bathroom as tears continue to run down my porcelain cheeks.

I try to walk past him but he grabs my wrist.

I flinch and push him back. My cuts sting as his hold on my wrists bothers them.

"What's wrong?"

"N-Nothing. Let's head back to p.e." I try to smile but it's a poor attempt.

I can tell he doesn't believe me.

He stands in front me and doesn't let me past him,"What's wrong with your wrist?"

"Can you just leave me alone please! Just give me some space!" I snap at him before walking back to the locker rooms.

I don't want to even talk to him anymore.

It's just a waste of time.

Lunch rolls around and I sit at my usual table with Cleo and Ian. They invited Jay to sit with us so he's here too.

I have my earbuds in listening to Pierce The Veil, not bothering to join in on the conversation.

I'm usually engaged in conversation with them but today since Jays here I don't even bother speaking up.

I excuse myself to go get something out of my locker. I need to grab my Spanish book for my next class.

I'm at my locker when someone taps my shoulder. I turn around and there's fucking Jay.

I swear this dude is everywhere and he just follows me around like a lost puppy.

It's starting to get on my nerves and he's on thin ice at the moment.

"What do you want," I question, rolling my eyes. I turn back around, reaching for my Spanish book.

"Why are you such a bitch?!" he says.

I slap him which causes a few people to stare.

I glare at them and they quickly walk off, not wanting to get in my business.

"You don't know anything about me! So don't you dare call me a bitch!"

I'm a bit stunned at my actions and back away,"I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. The words just slipped out."

Jay looks me straight in the eye with a smirk on his face,"Let me take you out. So we can get to know each other."

I can't believe he's seriously asking me that. After I literally just slapped him.

Like who the hell does that?

Can he not catch a hint.

"No and I mean this in the rudest way possible,"I tell him, slamming my locker shut.

"I'm not taking no for an answer. I'll just keep asking. Go out with me."

"No."

"Go out with me."

"For fucks sake, fine! Pick me up at 5."

"Wait really?!"He seems stunned I actually said yes.

I roll my eyes and write my number and address down.

"Don't be late."

And with that I walk away.

I'm a bit stunned at my sudden burst of confidence but it definitely feels good.
