We used the floo network to get to Kings Cross station.
When we arrived I could sense summer coming to end and autumn beginning to arrive. all of the leaves were turning crisp and brown and the heat of summer was replaced with cooler tempetures and soft breezes.
When reached platform 9 3/4 my parents walked straight through. I was a bit nervous and my parents never showed me how to go through it. as another family walked through it watched closely and then followed after.
I found my parents chatting with my mum's sister and my cousins. "hopefully they will all have a great year." said my aunt.
"Have a good year, see you next summer." my parents said. And before I knew it, they were gone.
I watched as my cousins boarded the train. They didn't like me, and i didn't like them so i made sure to get in a car two down from the one they got into.
I found a compartment with a few first years. I thought it would be best the best place to sit, since they didn't know much either, maybe i could make a few new friends too.
I knocked on the door to the compartment and pulled it open. "can I sit in here?" I asked to the kids in the compartment. "sure! My name's beatrice haywood." said one of the girls.
"nice to meet you, Im Erica Mills."
"That's a pretty name."replied Beatrice as she scooted over. I took the seat by window as beatrice and her friends went back to their conversation. I tried to join in, but no one seemed interested in talking to me. So I pulled out my book and began to read.
I bought a chocolate frog and a sugar quill from the trolley went it came by. And watched the views outside the window turn from the city to suburbs, to farmland, to the wild fields and woods.
When we arrived at hogwarts, we changed into our robes, and exited the train. all of the first years were led to the boats that would take us to the castle in the distance by a large man by the name of hagrid.
me, beatrice, and a redheaded girl from our compartment shared a boat. The castle looked so beautiful at night. it was so mesmerizing that the redhead had to snap me out of my trance and remind me to keep rowing.
After we exited the boats and headed up the many stairs up to the castle. A witch with emerald green robes met us in the entrance hall. she gave us a quick speech about the sorting ceremony before leading us into the great hall. The hall had four long tables filled with all the students, with one table for each house. The ceiling reflected the night sky and was also filled with thousands of floating candles. At the front of the hall by the staffs table was a stool with a raggedy old hat sitting on top. The sorting hat.
I had to be sorted into slytherin. My parents would probably disown me if i wasn't. One by one students sat up on the stool and were sorted. After a while, my name was called. After five minutes of sitting on the stool i knew i was a hat stall. finally the sorting hat made it's decision.
"SLYTHERIN!" phew i thought. just as I was about to take off the hat and pass it off to the next student,
"HUFFLEPUFF!" It shouted. what?
the whole hall grew silent. Before I knew it, Professer Dumbledore and the heads of slytherin and hufflepuff house were leading me into the back room.
