Chapter 20 - Love

Logan walks over and looks in the door. At first he can't believe his eyes, then he walk further into the room. He stops next to the bed and starts crying. He touches my face with gentle fingers.

"She's the one you thought dead? She's the one who gave her life to save you? I'm so sorry Logan I didn't realize."

"How bad is it? What happened, how did she get here? When did she get here, what can you tell me?"

"As you know our sister Racheal is a doctor in France. Well all I know is the few monks that survived the attack found her barely alive and took her to our sister. The head monk took the survivors to Racheal to get check out and dropped her off. Once Racheal cleared them all for travel he took the rest of the monks to the main monastery. She woke up three weeks after they left. The only problem is she can't remember anything. She only knows her name is Natasha, that's all the head monk could tell Rachael. Racheal called me because people came to the hospital looking for her. They showed up several times. Finally Racheal and Belinda managed to get her out of there and she has been working on getting here every since."

"But why does she look like this? How bad is she?"

"From what Racheal said the plane she was on broke down in Canada and she has been on foot for the last month. The people that are after her has been close on her trail this whole time. Logan sit down please the rest of this might be a bit hard to take."

"Is she going to die? What has she gone through?"

"Logan she got here three days ago. That first night she was a mess. She stumbled in asking for help and passed out in Scott's arms. Adrianna and I brought her here. While Scott pointed the search team in a different direction. I will tell you now that first night was touch and go,It wasn't pretty. Her body was on the verge of shutting down. I imagine in the beginning she was doing okay but as time passed she started running herself to death to get away from these people. All we could do was replace what she had lost and give her the time so she can hopefully heal. First she has a saline drip for fluids. Then Adrianna has her on a wide spectrum antibiotics for the fever and everything going on in her body. Then she added a vitamin and mineral cocktail to rebuild her levels. We also put in a feeding tube that we will remove after she wakes up. Right now she is getting a mix of real food blends and a milk substitute. It's the only way we have to feed Her right now. Her body has been completely depleted. She looked like a walking skeleton when she got here. I'm telling you this now, if she hadn't made it here that night she never would have made it at all. Also one last thing, how close were you to her?"

"Why are you asking? What's wrong? Did someone hurt her?"

"Logan she had a miscarriage. She was about eight weeks along. But with all the stress on her body she lost the baby."

Logan gets up and walks over to me, as he looks at me he thinks about it and realizes he lost a child. He takes my hand in his and asks," Does she know about it?"

"No Adrianna says it was just starting when she found us. She has not woke up at all since she got here. So she has no clue as to what her body is doing. Adrianna says everything went okay and she can have other children. But I am sorry for your loss."

After a minute of silence Logan shakes his head and says," So how is she doing now? She still looks horrible, is that getting any better or is it to soon to tell?"

"We are not sure how long she will sleep but I can tell you she is getting better. It will be a slow recovery. She lost a lot of weight. We will need to rebuild muscle, strength, stamina. Basically everything. What can you tell me about her before the attack on the monastery?"

"The plane she was on crash landed in the water near the monastery. She was exhausted and slept for a long time. Once she woke up we trained her abilities and became very close. A week before the final attack we found a baby left at the gates of the monastery. We took care of it for a little bit, then the attack happened. I thought she was dead. They said she was dead. She was bleeding from the head. They said there was no pulse. I would have gone back for her if I knew she was alive."

"It's not your fault Logan. The man was supposed to be a doctor so you took him at his word. We should just be glad that she is home safe now."

"Have you told her sister and cousin she is here yet?"

"How did you know?"

"First of all we talked a lot. If I ever meet her father I will kill him. Second they are twins, they look so much alike it hurt to look at her. Third they both talk about her a lot. They think she is dead."

"I am so sorry this has been so hard on you. And no I haven't told them anything yet, we are waiting to see if she pulls through okay before we get their hopes up."

"That's probably a good idea. Do you think they will be able to help with the amnesia? How did that even happen?"

"I'm pretty sure when the wall collapsed she was hit in the head a few times. I was told she had a concussion so that is most likely what caused the memory loss. Why don't you go rest now. You can come back later. Only the adults know she is here."

Logan looks at me for another minute then he kisses my forehead. He turns to Patricia and says," Let me know if she wakes up or if anything changes. I will be back later."

"I will let Adrianna know so she will expect your visits. And I promise I won't give her any details about it either."

"Thank you. talk to you later."

Then Logan leaves the clinic and goes to lay down.
