Chapter 3 - Part III

Throughout the journey, Joseph spent his time in front of his phone recalculating his budget for this trip. He couldn't rely on the refund as it would only be transferred after one week. So Joseph had to work around the available funds that he currently has in his bank account.

Initially, he planned on staying in a luxurious hotel suite but after evaluating his expenses. He decided on going for something less than that. That flight ticket made a dent in his plans.

He could have used a bit more of the money in his bank account, but he couldn't risk over budgeting this trip. Bills to pay, car tank to fill, groceries to buy. Nope. Couldn't risk it.

After giving it a long thought, Joseph decided to just stay at a generic hotel in town. It was okay if the hotel wasn't fancy, he would rather spend more on the experiences than the lodging.

The aircraft finally landed in Krabi after hours and hours of flight time. Joseph woke up from his sleep with a smile. Finally here, he thought. He could feel his excitement rising. The stress of the previous problems fading away along with his drowsiness.

There were taxis lining up on the side of the road. Their drivers calling out to anyone they saw exiting the main doors of the airport. Joseph followed one driver as he was ushered into the cab. He then showed the driver the address of a hotel he found online. Then off they sped onto the street and towards the hotel.

Joseph soaked in all the scenery along the way. From the bushy, green trees and shrubs that lined either side of the two lane roads, to the bustling town in the heart of the city. He loved every moment of it. All the fatigue he had experienced this past year slowly diminished and forgotten. Only joy filled his heart now.

The taxi finally arrived after almost an hour of driving. They pulled up on the main lobby of the hotel and the bellboy helped the driver with Joseph's luggage. He paid the fare and off the driver went.

The hotel itself was mediocre but it would suffice. The double glass doors slide open, welcoming its guest to come inside beneath its roof. The cold breeze from inside blew into Joseph's face and cooling him from the heat and humidity of the outside air, not that the climate bothered Joseph anyways.

Entering the hotel, Joseph walked straight up to the reception and greeted the receptionist. He confirmed his booking that he made just after landing at the airport, paid for the room and got his keys. Not sparing any moment more, Joseph went up to his room via the elevator as the bellboy followed.

Room 403, his room, was pretty decent for an affordable price. Right next to the door was a wooden cupboard fitting perfectly next to a pantry that had mugs, teacups and an assortment of coffee and tea sachets neatly arranged. Across from it was the bathroom which was okay in all honesty. It was tidy, clean and had beautiful black tiles covering the floor.

Walking into the room, Joseph remarked the light brown carpet that blanketed the entirety of the room with its minimalistic floral motives and it blended perfectly with the elegant coffee coloured walls.

To his right, a single bed was set below an oil painting of docked fishing boats. Bedside tables and lamps flanked either side of the bed at a reachable distance, and finally, a 30" flat screen LCD television hung on the wall opposite of the bed. A large borderless window opened up a scenery between the TV and the bed and looked out onto a large swimming pool below.

It was definitely worth the price and Joseph was pretty sure it was going to be a pleasant stay.
