Scott stepped into the beginning village expecting an NPC(non-player character) to greet him like the class guides he had read online only to find the area empty of an NPC's. He walked around the small village hoping maybe something else would happen that would guide him through the skills of this class. After a few minutes of circling the village he decided maybe his character had to enter a specific hut or building before his NPC would appear.
There weren't very many houses to check. There were two at the entrance both of which were not enter-able, there was a large building split in two that sold food and general items for questing and low level starter weapons and a few more little houses that he believed were probably also not able to be entered. He decided to check out the shoppe and see if there were any items he may be able to make use of.
The door had a sword and shield symbol with the words "general shoppe" in bright silver letters, as he entered he saw a large hulking NPC covered in black grime holding a metal working hammer. The NPC greeted the little rabbit " welcome to my shoppe friend, how can i help you!" Scott chose to browse his wares, he saw the normal rpg starting items, bread, rope, dagger, axe, rusty sword, nothing really caught his eye until he got the the last item. Written in gold above it were the words "little mandalin". Scott checked the description to find it was a mandolin crafted for small musicians. Another strange thing about the item was its price, unlike the rest of the starting items that were a few copper this item cost exactly the amount of money he started with. It was too much of a coincidence, he decided to purchase the mandolin, if he was wrong it didn't really matter he was gonna delete his account and re try his luck anyway. He watched his money reach zero and the instrument enter his storage bag. He pulled up the mandolin and noticed his rabbit could equip the item. Immediately after the mandolin was equipped his skills page automatically pulled up " new skills-stringed instrument spells- song of storms, song of flames". The words flashed across his screen and his heart began to beat faster, " its a caster class! A music based caster class! A bard! This is so freaking cool!" No wonder no one ever tried the class, it couldn't equip wands or staffs, and no one in the game bothers with musical instruments, they don't give you any stats just appearance but you have to un-equip your weapons to do so.
Scott read the information on the two new spells, the storm spell was a knock back that effected everything in front of him in a cone, and the flame spell was a buff that added true burn damage to his allies abilities, he also noticed he had gained a sound based basic attack that dealt damage scaling off his dexterity stat. " This is very interesting, it seems like he was best with other classes in fights, his buff would be extremely useful in a group, he finally had a basic attack, it didn't do much damage right now but at least he could attack.
"Maybe the class was worth leveling a couple levels, see what happens." He thought to himself, " let's go find a few low level creatures to see what we can really do!"
He made his way outside the starting area to a small grassy meadow, the wind moved the long grass and cat-tails like a dance. There were small mole creatures and mouse creatures, all non threatening but killable for exp. he watched as they moved around the area. " I think we will try our hand at that rat." He thought to himself, he equipped the mandolin and sent out his new sound auto attack at the rat in front of him. Yellow musical notes shot from the strings and began to hit the rat, at first it didn't seem to notice, but after the second blast small cuts opened over the places the notes were cascading against. The rat snarled and its eyes turned a furious blood red, bore its teeth revealing the two dagger like front teeth glistening against the daylight. It lunged forward trying to bite him, his agility was high so he was able to dodge the attack, he strummed his mandolin again hitting the rat again with a musical blast. More flesh fell away and the rat began to have a harder time moving, scott jumped high above the dying rat and strummed his instrument one more time dealing the killing blow. The rat fazed away and an exp notification flashed across Scott's eyes.
"Large rat defeated, +10 experience!"
Scotts leveling bar increased to half way, it seems this Bard class could level just like everyone else, which means he could be the first competitive Bard ever in the game. That would settle it, Scott would focus his time on this character.
