Chapter 195 - Castle little moon (3)

"Hey, why isn't it attacking you? Are you really trying your best?"

"What are you implying-"

"I saw him linger against a skeleton knight a bit longer than he usually does. He's holding back so we get exhausted and die first!"

"I did not!"

"Prove it then. Take the front and attack it."

"Are you crazy! You want to fight it, do it yourself!"

"See! He wants to let us die so he has it easier escaping later."

"That's ridiculous! You just want me to take the risk for you!"

They are really going at it. With every sentence, the hostility between them increases. They aren't going to turn against one another, are they?

"Get him!"

They do. The dissenter who failed to win the crowd with his arguments is stabbed in the back by one of his former colleagues. He was the least injured among them and could have been crucial in their retreat but they killed him because of such a simple scheme of mine.

With one guy down, the pressure on the rest immediately increases. They can't keep approaching me and need to put all their effort into holding back the skeleton knights. How sad to see them fail to reach me. I think I'll help them out.

Since they can't come to me, I'll just come to them!

I launch myself at them and give them a good tail whip. My tail is much bigger now and smashes into them with a loud bang. The damage is marginal but they are all blown away. I also hit a few skeleton knights but the dungeon master shouldn't be too peeved since it's for a good cause.

The adventurers have lost the protection of being a unit and by the time they regain their footing they have all received a few deep cuts. Normally, that wouldn't be too much of a problem since they could still apply some emergency medical measures. However, with my venom in the air, those wounds bleed like there's no tomorrow.

I keep launching energy fangs at them while swooping in with the occasional tail whip when they try to break free of the skeleton knights' engagement. Honestly, I'm not doing much but at least they are going down.

Since I have the time I keep a close eye on the carriers with my thermal vision. So far they aren't moving but I suspect that they will leave immediately after confirming that the team of adventurers has been wiped out.

One adventurer after the other falls as the skeleton knights continue their unrelenting assault with me assisting when and wherever necessary. The training grounds are dyed red with copious amounts of fresh blood and pools of sanguine liquid are formed in the ditches left from the fighting.

Using blood magic here would be incredibly effective but also unnecessary. Team fighting sucks!

Unimported details!

The last adventurer dies and my body tenses like a loaded spring as my gaze darts over to the carriers. The moment they make their getaway I'll launch myself over and give chase.

However, they don't move. Did they realize that I am watching them?

So you are saying they can't use that thing to hide again?

I slowly slither towards the two concealed carriers while casually looking around. They tense and look at each other but freeze instantly.

I'm constantly switching between normal and thermal vision so I see the air ripple for a brief moment right as they move. Navi's theory should be accurate, whatever they are using will fade with major movement.

To keep up the ruse, I pretend like I only saw the short ripple in the air. I focus my gaze on where the ripple appeared and close in to investigate.

The two carriers can't move but they don't panic yet since the air ripple wasn't exactly where they are. They must be hoping that I'll investigate that spot and miss them only meters away.

I swish out my long tongue at the air a few times as if I was tasting the air. I never really used my tongue like this and the sensory input is nothing but confusing. I turn away and see the carriers relax from the corner of my eye.

Rule one while hunting, make your prey relax and swoop in for the kill when they least expect it.

While I'm still turning my head away from them, my tail lashes out at the carriers and delivers a magnificent tail whip. The very moment my tail connects, they appear in my normal vision. These guys are low level and one of them is thrown through the air like a broken kite, dead before he even hits the ground.

The other carrier manages to cross his arms before himself and rolls backward to disperse the force of my tail whip. His arms seem to be maimed but that is the least of his problems.

When he has finally dispersed the force and wants to keep escaping, my opened maw is right in front of him.

He desperately twists his body but a simple turn of my head compensates for that and my fangs sink into his soft flesh.

With how big I have gotten, my teeth pack a whole lot more mass and penetration force now. I even doubt if treated leather armor can resist my bite as it is now.
