Chapter 161 - Hide and seek (2)

I quickly leave the room with the collapsed kiln and the female adventurer's body inside. My mood quickly recovers as I think of how fun playing hide and seek with the other bad guys will be.

Thanks to the map I won't have any trouble finding them and they don't even know. Playing hide and seek like this is fun.

Exactly. They are bad guys so they don't get the nice game rules. Apocalypse game mode initiated!

No, I found sister Tele's room once and she showed me her setup and some of the games she likes to play. I also wanted to play some hidden glory but sister Tele said that I was too young.

Hmm, the game features playing a staff-wielding character who wishes to detach themselves from the realm of the living and become an immortal. You have to fight various monsters as well as other humans in order to open the heavenly path. Apocalypse game mode is the highest difficulty and punishes you for every death you incur.

Sister Tele was just fighting an ancient dragon turtle that was guarding a tree with a fruit she wanted to obtain.

Really? I just said that if she let me stay and watch for a while I'd stay quiet. When I asked what that thing she was doing, she gave me this picture board that told me about the game.

Will do!

I sneak through the brick rooms and approach my next target. The adventurer flinches when I enter the room and gives away his location through that sound alone. How did none of the other golems find him? Are they deaf?

No matter. I try to be even quieter as I make my way towards a clay figure at the corner of the room. Every now and then I can hear the adventurer shift around nervously. He must have heard me enter the room and is now wondering where I am or why he can't hear me move. I peek around the side of the clay figure only to see him do the same but on the other side and towards the entrance.

If he turned his head to the other side for just a moment, he would definitely spot me but he's too busy trying to look at the entrance of the room where he believes me to be.

I move around the figure and stand next to his cowering body. I lean down and bring my head right next to his and wait.

A few seconds pass and after not spotting me anywhere in the room, he turns around with his eyes closed while breathing a long sigh of relief. When he opens his eyes again, our gazes meet and his face contorts in terror.

He screams like a girl and all color fades from his face as if he is a ghost. His hand shoots down, aiming to pick up the mace lying discarded beside him. Before he can reach it and put up much of a fight, I punch him from up close.

My fist connects with his face and he is pushed against the clay figure behind him. I pull back my hand and see that my punch has left him dizzy and disoriented. While he remains vulnerable I rain down punches until the red dot on the map next to me disappears.

When I stop punching, there isn't much left that would make this thing recognizable as a human. One more bad guy down.

I leave the room and proceed to hunt the other two adventurers who are hiding. The next guy tries to keep me at bay by sneaking around inside the room. He's really good at sneaking and I can't detect him at all.

However, with the dungeon map, I see his movements with crystal clarity. I pretend to look in the wrong places a few times and let him move hiding places right before I pretend to discover them.

After a while, he lowers his guard and I immediately launch a punch at him. He tries to fight back but only lasts through three of my punches before his dot disappears from the map. Was the last guy stronger?

The last guy charges at me the moment I enter the room he's in and he sees that I am alone. In the last room, I already saw a broken golem so he must be trying to eliminate golems that are by themselves.

Too bad, Monica is not some normal golem! Monica is Monica!

I temporarily sacrifice both my arms to perform two consecutive shatter punches. The big adventurer is blown away by the massive eruption of force that follows.

While he tries to get up I calmly begin to reassemble my arms while walking up to him.

He sees that I'm starting to recover so he tries to rally his strength and attack while I am still injured. I simply step on him and hold him down with my weight until my fists have fully recovered before letting another rain of fists descend.
