"I have to say I'm impressed. You found a way to incorporate the stomp into your normal fighting while also getting a new method of distancing yourself. Not to mention the second attack with your other hand. Like this you are definitely harder to defeat."
"I live to serve my lord and anything less than this is unacceptable. I must become the wall that protects my lord for all eternity."
"Sure you do... Moving on, let's use the mist that usually covers the ground too. If you swing your sword at the right angle you should be able to create temporary vision barriers for your opponents. Can you do that?"
The skeleton swordmaster looks somewhat lost. It scratches its skull in embarrassment and nervously shifts its weight from one leg to the other.
"What's the matter? Can you not do it?"
"Umm, I'm not too sure if I can. I can't really see the mist. I can barely even tell if it's there or not."
Oh, right. This must be the downfall of seeing things in a magical way. Seeing through most physical obstacles may be useful at times but a bit inconvenient at others.
"Daedalus, can we get some mist in here?"
Responding to my request mist begins to seep into the room from no apparent source. The ground quickly gets covered in a thick layer of mist and I can't see the craters from the skeleton swordmaster's stomps anymore.
"I don't know if you can see this but the floor is now covered in mist. Try to create a temporary screen with the mist and retreat. I'll see if it works and tell you. Just go with your gut and try."
The skeleton swordmaster swings the sword and creates a slight misty screen through the air pressure brought by the sword. However, this much isn't enough for me to be unable to see it.
"Good start but it isn't enough to make me lose sight of you. Can you do the same thing again but stronger?"
"I'll try."
The skeleton swordmaster swings again and this time my vision is completely obscure by a wall of mist. Once the mist dissipates I nod.
"That's great. With this, you'll be able to temporarily get out of your opponent's sight. Now the only thing I can think of is to teach you some magic."
"I am a swordmaster, not a mage. One sword is enough for me and I have no need for magic!"
"So you plan to waste that mp pool you have? I'm sure your lord didn't give you those mp for you not to use them. Also, there are magic swordsmen so why can't you be a magic swordmaster?"
"I, I... If my lord wills it then I will try. But I will never give up on pursuing the way of the sword!"
"You'd better not! Sword fighting is still your main combat power. Magic will at best play a supporting role allowing you to do more damage or take out ranged opponents. I for example use earth magic. I can show you but I believe it is best if you learn magic that suits you best."
I show him my signature moves ground spikes and rock needle. Afterward, I also repair all the cracks in the ground and restore the room to its pristine condition.
The skeleton swordmaster calmly watches me do all these things and noncommittally restates that he will try to learn it. I did my best so I don't care if it doesn't listen to me.
Navi, I think I'm about done here so beam me out!
No can do.
My vision swims and I suddenly feel a soft mattress below me. My sense of gravity takes a moment to realize that I have transitioned from standing to a lying position. I'm back in my room at VR dungeons.
What's on the menu?
What part of Pata's cooking isn't to die for? That octopus dude must have reached level eight or nine in his cooking skill.
Explain that, please?
So if I get my dismantling skill to level ten it will evolve into a unique skill?
I arrive at the employee dining hall and find Navi chatting with Valeria. Apart from those two, no one else is here. Navi sees me enter the dining hall and waves me over.
"Come and sit down so we can eat. Just thinking of tasting that meat sauce is making me drool!"
"Where's everyone else? I thought that at least Darwin would be here."
"Yeah, it's rare for Darwin to miss out on lunch but he was needed in a dungeon. The halls launched an attack on a fairly influential dungeon master's dungeon. That guy's influence is directly below the leaders of the great dungeon alliance so we had to take him seriously. Darwin decided to go personally. Edward and Jade are also fighting in dungeons at the moment and Monica is playing with Melody."
"For Darwin to be going himself, that fight must be insane."
"It is! We believe Ocean Emperor and his ilk are there so Darwin is the best at killing them."
"Wait a minute, you said that they were immortal with that respawn from the ocean and all."
"That's all true but Darwin can directly attack their souls which does kill them. But even Darwin needs to hit them at full strength to succeed so it isn't really considered a viable option to kill them."
