My musings over the possibilities of the field surgery skill are interrupted by the increasing unrest of the bloodied lake. The red color suddenly begins to recede as all the blood in the lake flows towards one point leaving the water crystal clear.
Is that normal to be happening during an evolution?
As the blood clears away I can somewhat see what happens below the surface. Suddenly a shadow jumps out of the water and sails towards the land where I stand. It's a large piranha but as I look at it something tells me that this is still a shoal of piranhas and not a singular entity.
I try to focus on one part of the large piranha and the monster's name pops into my head. This thing before me is a construct of multiple fusion piranhas fusing to create a greater organism.
While I'm still digesting that newly obtained piece of information the large fish lands on the ground beside me and begins to struggle.
I'm just about to help it get back into the water when the fish grows arms and legs. It slowly changes its shape and becomes a carbon copy of me with the exception that it has twice my size.
They can change into different creatures?!!

Is it really out of your expectations when you guessed I'd do it?
After spending some time on land the goblin made up of fusion piranhas decides that it doesn't like it here and returns to the water in the form of a fish once again. The other shoals of fusion piranhas are also swimming around close to the surface in their fused forms.
Really? How so? For even your evaluation of them to be this they must be special in some way or another.
They die?
So unless you kill the individual fusion piranhas while they are forced out of their fused state they are unkillable?
Navi?
Navi's voice coming to a sudden stop makes me feel like something is off. Gravely so.
I look at the lake and notice a bright red colored piranha swimming looking at me out of the water. Unexpectedly a status window appeared before me when I made eye contact.

Is that its name? Did it always have a name?
Are you talking to the piranha? Is his name news to you too?
So it can't be a coincidence?

Oh gods, will I ever have the time to take a break? Actually, don't answer that!
I think I'll do the testing now since the impressions of fighting in this room are still fresh in my mind. I can think of a few ideas to get past this boss room.
Navi directly extracts me from the dungeon and I wake up in one of the VR capsules for employees. A dive into the virtual world lets me appear at the entrance of the boss room.
Navi, can you temporarily deactivate my pain receptors?
I want to try and go through this headfirst so I'll probably get mauled by piranhas. And I'm not exactly looking forward to feeling that.
I don't feel my lack of pain sensitivity but I'm sure Navi did what I asked of her. Just to be sure I slap myself and feel no pain at all. I only felt the touch.
Armed with the knowledge that nothing can make me hurt I sprint into the boss room where I am immediately greeted by 50 skeletons. I ignore the bony idiots and run straight for the lake. The few skeletons that do get in my way are cut down by my daggers without slowing me down in the least.
As I reach the edge of the lake I leap with all my strength and after sailing through the air for a few seconds dive into the cold and crystal clear water.
