The tower shield is large enough to cover the minotaur from all the arrows. The two centaurs were trotting next to him drawing their bows and returning fire.
Yeah, they must be using a new formation or something because the centaurs get riddled with arrows before we even get within a hundred meters of the wall.
I can now see the individual elven archers on the wall. They are wearing grayish coats to blend in with the walls and avoid detection. The centaurs had a hard time hitting them but the lamias that are hidden behind the minotaur's shield are doing much better. They must have a heat sense skill like me.
Suddenly, a new elven archer appears on the wall. She is clothed in a green coat and stands out like a sore thumb. We are only fifty meters away from the wall as she begins to draw her bow.
The arrow begins to glow and when it is set loose it starts to spin wildly. It hits the minotaur's shield that is already filled with arrows and with a crack the shield is split in half. The minotaur roars and drops the shield. He accelerates and easily clears the remaining thirty meters before crashing headfirst into the wall.
The wall is about six to seven meters tall and made from stone blocks held together by some kind of mortar. The minotaur's charge barely leaves a few cracks in the wall itself but the impact throws all the archers atop it off balance allowing the rest of us to safely reach the wall.
Now, how are we supposed to get up there?
The lamias drop their bows and slither past the dizzy minotaur and up the wall. I can tell that they are using the spaces between the stones where the mortar is as holds to move up. Their speed is astonishing and before the archers on the wall have fully recovered they are greeted by the snake ladies coming over the edge. I can barely see what they are doing now but moments later three ropes are dropped and the Spartans immediately start climbing.
I'm a snake so I could go up the wall like the lamias. However, I have never done that so I think that's a bad idea. Instead, I just climb onto one of the Spartans. The grown man looks at me strangely but makes no move to shake me off.
"What are you doing, red snake?"
"Hitching a ride."
The spartan harrumphs and pays me no more attention. He quickly climbs up the rope and swings over the wall.
The lamias and Spartans are fighting the elven archers up on the wall. The lamias and elves are both using two shortswords each. The Spartans are fighting with a large round shield and a spear.
The wall isn't very wide so three Spartans can form a shield wall and push the archers back. Once a 100-meter long section of the wall is cleared one spartan blows into a horn.
The deep tone echoes far and wide. The horn is answered by a series of shrill cries. A group of maybe thirty harpies flies over the cleared section and descends on the camp behind the wall.
With a crashing sound, the minotaur uses two ropes to haul himself onto the wall and then lets himself drop down the other side. So do the kobaloi that are following now.
The Spartans split into two groups. Six of them stay behind and keep pushing a shield wall over both sides of the wall. The rest descends along with the lamias and follows the minotaur and the kobaloi.
I keep clinging to the spartan and scan the situation.
The kobaloi and the minotaur rush straight into the enemy camp engaging the large number of humans that come running out of their tents. The lamias and the Spartans on the other hand take a right and run along the edge of the camp. The fight around the minotaur is making such a commotion that we go unnoticed for now.
I can see a large gate on the walls of the colosseum. This must be the entrance the adventurers use. Right outside the gate is a smaller camp. I can see numerous carts, barrels, and wooden crates that must hold the supplies we are supposed to destroy. There is also a surprising amount of livestock in that camp. And from the way it looks, they also have a separate defense force. Unlike before when we moved past the main camp unnoticed we are easily spotted this time around.
The Spartans form a shield wall with the three lamias behind them. Opposite us, a group of soldiers forms up their ranks and marches against us. Soldiers are a very balanced class that has no weaknesses or strengths. They are group specialized and usually don't enter dungeons. However, this dungeon features large-scale battles so the class seems to be popular here.
The soldiers and Spartans clash and I can tell that I won't be able to do much in this fight. Even the weakest of those soldiers has a level of thirty or higher.
Fortunately, I am not here just for EXP. My main focus is to level up my blood magic to level three. I think I will just stay on this spartan and interfere with the enemy.
As the Spartans and soldiers hack into each other their blood is spilled onto the ground. I use my blood magic to try and do somethings but that proves quite difficult.
At this level, I can only really move blood and without a clear idea of what I want it to do that's pretty useless. My slow movements have no effect on the battle so far.
Okay, change of plans. Trying to move the blood in a way that does damage is clearly much above my level of skill. If I can't do damage I'll just impede their movements and distract them until I reach level three.
