The goblins reach the swordsmen and the ones at the front are immediately cut down. The resulting opening is used by Jade to slip past the left swordsman's defenses and wrap around him.
With his arms wrapped up the swordsman panics and falls. Jade sinks her teeth into his throat and I think he is pretty done for. The other swordsman is besieged by the goblins so I won't have to worry about him for the time being.
I throw another miniature javelin at the sobbing mage and hit him slightly below the waist. Then, I drop the remaining javelins and draw my daggers. Time to take care of that shield-bearer.
The poor guy is visibly weighed down by his armor but it seems very robust. Aren't these guys amateurs? How can he afford armor that's so strong?
The shield-bearer is only armed with a short sword and due to his slow and predictable movements, I easily dodge his attacks. However, after hitting his armor multiple times I do little damage. My daggers simply slip off his armor and while his face is partially unprotected, I can't reach it without allowing him to hit me with his short sword.
"Go for the armpitssssss, they aren't protected by armor!"
A hissing voice yells over at me and a side glance reveals to me how Jade is still constricting and furiously biting the swordsman. That guy really deserves some praise for holding up until now.
Navi told me that Jade was a high-level adventurer so I trust her advice. I dodge the shield-bearer's downward slash and circle around him. He is slow to turn and can't see me due to the helmet narrowing down his vision. I get up close and personal then I stab one of my daggers into the gap in his armor.
My knowledge of human anatomy tells me that my stab should have hit something in the proximity of if not the heart itself. The shield-bearer groans but completes his turn and uses his shield to swat me away. I stumble back and regain my balance. The shove he gave me held little strength, the stab must have done some damage.
But I didn't kill the swordsman, what's going on Navi?
Ah, so I'm leeching off Jade's hard work. She's definitely not going to be pleased with this development. Better kill the shield-bearer quickly.
Despite my momentary distraction, my opponent hasn't made a move against me. I can hear his labored breathing and see how his shield arm is trembling from exertion. That shield must be seriously heavy!
Since he's down I take advantage of this opportunity and strike. I charge at him which prompts him to take a defensive stance that vaguely radiates energy. Probably a defensive skill.
Before I reach him I stop my charge and throw one of my daggers at his exposed face. He clearly wasn't expecting me to do that and failed to raise his shield in time. The dagger hits his eye and he instantly drops shield and sword to hold his face. In agony, he tips back his head enough to expose his throat and since he's disarmed I leap up and slash at his throat.
A fountain of blood answers my slash as the tender skin of the throat is cut. The shield-bearer falls onto his back and twitches a few more times.
I cast a gaze towards the mage just in time to see Jade throw herself at the poor soul. His screams of agony went up a notch before suddenly quieting down.
The other swordsman had been mauled by the goblin group and finally died. His corpse was mutilated badly since the goblins only had their grown out nails as weapons.
Though now one of the goblins had picked up the sword of the mauled swordsman and was excitedly swinging it around. So goblins can use weapons!
Do goblins see clubs as useful weapons?
Read my thoughts.
I walk over to the mauled swordsman and pull out my dismantling knife. I remove the dead adventurer's femur bones hand them to two of the goblins. They gratefully accept the bone clubs and try to thank me with their broken sentences.
Inhumane? Too late for that one.
I go from corpse to corpse and give the bone clubs and weapons to the goblins. The mage's staff isn't really useful since no one present uses magic so I just ignore it. I try to lift the shield-bearer's shield but it's too heavy to use.
I scan the shield carefully and come to the conclusion that it must be made of some very strong rock. Rock armor sounds like a terrible idea but when I think of how well protected the guy had been while fighting me... If the production cost was cheap this would indeed be a good set of armor for low-level adventurers.
