Mancer - A 'Mancer' is a mage, or a person who practices the mystic sorcery of the Kanzhul Era. Successors of the bygone 'Runeists' of the Lohkvan Era who inscribed magical patterns on their bodies as a medium to manifest their magic. Mancers can channel magic to their extremities, such as hands and feet and form spell diagrams with movements of their limbs.
Any being, sentient or not, can become a mancer from exposure to an enchanted item or an elemental natural resource. Monsters however, can be born with elements and can unlock another by undergoing sensus and becoming a mancer.
'Sensus' is the process of awakening your abilities as a mancer, this is how non-monster bipedal races such as humans and elves gain their abilities to manipulate the elements.
When one undergoes Sensus their body undergoes a pseudo evolution of sorts in which it acclimates to the element the mancer can take control of.
This process is called 'Purgo', as this occurs your body is adapted to your element and is made more efficient which is why mancers generally look down upon non-mancers. An example of purgo is a cryomancer gaining a lower body temperature and paler skin.
Note that Mancers are not immune to their own element as a pyromancer could still burn themselves to death if they are not careful.

Trivia : Cumbersome apparel such as full plate armour is a detriment to a mancer's casting, a myriad of different scholars have detailed a blockage within the individual's mana stream.
This is why most Mancers usually wear thin clothing such as robes.
