All the mist shrouding the koi gardens of Shirogane's traditional Jihonian mansion abruptly dispersed as a mighty explosion of flames seemingly turned night into day.
Mahouka screamed in horrific dread upon witnessing her lover get engulfed by a bright orange blaze. She frantically rushed to his aid, but Shirogane raised his palm, prompting her to stop in her tracks.
"Stay back, Mahouka!" the "Jihonian Underworld's King" commanded before he dropped to a knee on the backyard's floor. "You will not be able to do anything. Get into close contact with me, and you shall be engulfed by the Eternal Fire as well."
"But, my love! What can I do?! I can't stand seeing you like this anymore! Please sever your link with the boy!" Mahouka yelled her pleas as tears began to fall from her cheeks. "You're in great pain! Tell me how to stop this, please…"
