Synopsis

Chapter 1 - Skelton turning Fiendish.

Bright light filled my vision as I slowly opened my weary and heavy eyelids. All around me I could see brilliant structures that could not have been imagined by my simplistic thinking. My head was propped up by a thick and sharp belt. I looked in front and saw a figure dressed in beautiful silk colored in gold. No face could be seen on this divine being only two red lips. A gentle yet faded sigh shook the room I was in. The figure looked at the book in its hand and whispered something. I couldn't hear it yet from the way the figures beautiful lips moved I understood "Adrian Thomas. Age 26. Death: Died saving a group of children. Merits: Saved... saved... helped... Stood up for... Demerits: He... He... He... Sentencing suggested: 100 Years of punishment and then reincarnation in the spiritual realm. Hm... I feel punishment is too much, but... The Dew of Oz is singing. Wait..."

Suddenly a feeling of being drowned overwhelmed me. I felt my consciousness being devoured by the endless parade of water. Soon I felt a scalding sensation as if being bathed in hot water fill me.

I woke up this time on my back. I felt it taxing to even move slightly. Suddenly I realized I wasn't breathing. I used the little energy I could muster to touch my chest. I felt my fingers slip through gaps where my chest should have been. Suddenly with a buzz a blue screen appeared in front of me.

I looked at this screen in shock, horror and excitement. I could feel my spirit shudder as memories of games and novels flashed by. A thought filled my head 'Is this a game.' A voice filled my head and said in an indistinct voice [No user this is real life with real consequences. System hopes user can finish quest quickly to prevent Oblivion. System generates advice: User should add stat point first to strength. Then wait until health recovers and begin hunting low level mobs. User currently cannot move due to stress from an enemy attack. Debuff will remain for 2 minutes. System feels pity for master and will give an iron sword. System wishes master good luck.] I saw white light appear before me an a thin iron sword appeared in front of me. I tried holding it and found that it was too heavy. I added a stat point to Strength like the system told me and now I could barely hold the sword. Soon two minutes finished and I could move. I quickly got up and began to hold my sword like a baseball bat. I quickly decided to listen to system and get my bearings and then ponder upon my situation .I slowly creeped towards the end of the tunnel I was in. A pale yellow light coming from the torches in front dragged me forward. The rattling of my bones echoed in the silence and fear stuck me like a cold wind. I reached the front of the tunnel which split into two corridor's heading left and right. In the left there were skeletons holding crude hammers and knives and to the right there were 3 fat lizards. I felt fear grip my heart and didnt want to move. 'Why aren't they fucking fighting. I can see those lizards are angry so why?! I wish I had appraisal so I could atleast understand my situation better.' [System has heard Users plea and will give the skill appraisal for two skill points.]

Suddenly small screen appeared in front of all the mobs. The fat lizards were creature's called "Baby Earth newts."

Baby Earth newts: lvl 2.

Hp: 20/20

Mp: 12/12

Bio: Baby Earth newts around 100 years of age. Will mature only when they have comprehend the earth. Fast and strong. Dangerous to user!

Skills: Earth pit lvl 2, Earth spit lvl 1, Earth hunger(Passive), Earth meld.

If I had a face I would definitely have an ugly expression. I moved my head to the Skeltons and saw

Skelton soldier's: lvl 3 (Summoned)

Hp: 5/5

Mp: 9/9

Bio: Skeltons used for battle. User is a civilian Skelton summoned to take care of odd jobs such as cooking etc.

Skills: Skelton dance lvl 1, swirling stab lvl 1, parry lvl 1,

I fell back on my butt depressed. I was a Skelton more useless than normal Skeltons and I'm expected to kill my summoner. I shouted in agitation in my head 'Fuck! The Skeltons atleast have less health than me so thats great. Why aren't these two attacking? Hm seems like some flower is going to bloom in the middle.'

Flower of monster Evolution.

Uses: Allows Evolution of monsters. Typically evolution needs a monster to reach a certain level, but this bypasses that. System encourages user to get lucky encounter.

Possible Evolutions: Skelton general, Skelton warlord, human, baby jade dragon, Blue Imp.

I was suprised this flower seemed amazing and understood that they must be waiting for it to bloom. Hm? Why are the evolutions some connected to me, but some about lizards? [The flower is grown in the habitat of lizards and has been nourished and fertilized in the urine and feces of Earth imps and other subjects. Their genus has been added to the available Evolutions.] I nodded again and again happily as I heard the systems explanation. I said in happiness 'This is just what I need!' I guessed that the mobs were waiting for this flower to bloom to evolve, but when I looked closer at the flower I saw something that made me shake instinctively when appraisal caught sight of something.

Electric Jade chameleon.

Lvl 12

Hp:???

Mp:???

Bio:A very cunning monster. It seeks to get the most benefits in every action. It carries the special perk devour and when it eats other mobs it becomes stronger. It can hide itself to the point of true invisibility.

I fell over in fear and cursed again and again in my head. Was this the thing that killed the previous owner of this body is that why my body is so fearful?

Ding!

I looked and saw a new quest.

[I'm hungry!: Kill the Electric jade chameleon and then proceed to devour the other mobs!

Rewards - Passive skill Devour, gain earth element affinity, gain electric element affinity, gain special evolutionary line with Flower of monster Evolution, gain passive skill earth armor, gain skill camouflage, gain skill earth bullet, gain skill lighting strike, gain skill area stun . 10 stat points and 10 skill points.

Penalty:Death.]

I looked both happy and dispirited at the same time as conflicting thoughts battled in my head. Finally a sad thought was left 'I am supposed to fight for my right to exist I definitely can't do it like this so I might as well try and possibly die than live and die without any effort.'

I held my iron sword and and tried to take a deep breath like I normally did before important stuff, but as a Skelton nothing happened.

[System is proud to be owned by user and wishes to help!]

I smiled bitterly and said in my head "Lets go!"

I sneaked into the group of skeletons, but before that the system informed me of the inventory feature I hid the sword because it was too flashy in the inventory. It was easy because their attention was on the flower. [User. System had made a battle plan please inspect it by saying prompt 'Plan']

I nodded and said 'plan' in my head. A 2d model of what was in front of me appeared.

[User should first make the presence of the high level mob known to other mobs. Typically low level mobs would run away from high level mobs, but due to the nature of the flower they will not and instead have a 1/10 chance of using the special skill of all monsters "Rage" It boosts their power by a large amount in all values. The Skeltons and Imps will probably join in an effort to kill the Chameleon. Chances of lizard dying according to system data is 1/100. Chances of lizard being slightly injured 1/3. Chance's of lizard being severely injured 1/50. The Chameleon is naturally the polar of opposite of the earth elemental Imps! System had given user inital analysis and hopes user can further elaborate on plan.]

I nodded and said "I see. System I have a question. If I wait until right before the flower blooms and then show the Chameleons presence will the chances of the mobs entering "Rage" increase?"

[System is analyzing... Users actions are correct! congratulations!]

I smiled and thought "Obviously anyone whould hate it more when something they were right about to get gets taken away. Okay system another question are there any structural inadequacies here? Like a weak ceiling or column?"

[System is analyzing... Yes user the corridor where you came from have a weak structure.]

I smiled and said "System can you do a trial according to the ideas I have and then give me all the scenarios that could happen?"

[Yes user.]

A few minutes later I looked over 50 clips. Each was a different scenario. Some events repeated, but some didnt. After analyzing them all I was ready. I said as I looked hungrily at the mobs in front of "System tell me when the most appropriate time to start the plan comes."

[User now!]

I threw a small, but heavy rock that could easily draw everyone's eyes to the Chameleons side causing it to be startled and rise breaking its camouflage. The Skeltons and Imps around who were extremely excited looking at the flower that was about to bloom saw a Chameleon rise. Monsters could evolve other races like humans and elves couldn't from what I know from books and games, but this was their gift and curse. Monsters felt a burning desire to evolve and they would do anything for that desire. Yet right as their dream was about to be born, what if some strong guy came and put his filthy hands on the dream you've been working so hard for? The dream that made you walk when the world wanted you dead. Rage filled the Skeltons and Earth Imps. The Skeltons bones turned a faint purple and the Imps eyes turned a blood red. The Chameleon was stunned at this development, but didn't really care and cast its spell "Area stun" and used its Superior stats to dominate the low level mobs. The earth Imps were already angry yet they met their mortal enemy and electric elemental monster and their rage increased. The Skeltons could vaguely sense the level of the Chameleon and were angry because it had evolved once and wanted another one!

The battle intensified to the point none of the other mobs remember the flower. I quickly went forward and plucked the flower.

[Congratulations User for your initial success and for collecting the flower of Monster Evolution.]

I moved quietly and as inconspicuously as I could. I got to the tunnel I had come from and hid behind a rock until the fight was done.

With a quick dash and then slash the Electric Jade Chameleon killed the final Imp. It had gotten to level 14 yet it wasn't happy it was moderately hurt and its pride was thus damaged. Higher level mobs held themselves up on a pedestal and to then be mobbed by some weak insects and get hurt aswell it was livid. The Lizard made a low growl and then looked towards the flower to see it gone. Its eyes expanded widely and it ran towards where the flower should have been. I slowly retreated and then hit the ground hard with my sword making a deep ring pass through the tunnel. The Chameleon looked towards me with an evil smirk. I could guess the Chameleon was mocking me for making a noise. I began to run into the tunnel. The Chameleon moved fast and followed. I hit my sole onto the ground hard and stopped turned around and when I felt the Chameleon was the right distance away pierced the wall causing spider web like cracks to form. The Chameleon was stunned and stopped, but due to its previous momentum it had appeared directly underneath the loose area of the tunnel.

Crash! The Chameleon was killed as heavy mysterious black bricks fell on its body. I sat on the ground as I felt like a deflated balloon.

[Congratulations user! User you have accumulated lots of exp due to killing the Extremely high level mob. System suggests to keep exp until after Evolution to get more benefits.

Congratulations user! Due to your plan succeeding your intelligence will increase by 10 points. You will also get an additional skill tree of your choice.

Congratulations User! For completing the major part of the Quest "Im hungry!" The passive skill Devour has been unlocked please user devour on the other mobs to finish quest!]

I smiled widely and then began to move the Chameleon corpse out. I ate the Chameleon almost instantly and got some prompts from the system. I didn't look as I went and ate the other mobs. Even the Skelton bones, but where did all this food go?

[Devour directly nourishes the soul or monster core rather than the food going to the stomach. Normally Devour only takes the skills and etc from mobs eaten, but due to the user currently not having a digestive system the devour skill is consuming everything further nourishing soul and monster core.]

I nodded gleefully. When I was done I looked at the prompts.

[Congratulations for completing the quest "Im hungry!" Your rewards have been given. Special evolutionary lines will be given after eating the flower of monster Evolution.

All hail for the user has completed his first quest reward 5x mid level strength potions, skill weapon mastery. For completing the quest so easily user gets additional reward (Egg of Loyal friend)]

I glanced at these and quickly closed the prompt and asked "System something has been bugging me. Is the one who summoned me weak. The reward for killing him or her is 10 stat points the same as this mission. So once I evolve if the difficulty is around this level I think ill be fine, but are the quest difficulties made according to my knowledge or do you know the whole situation?"

[User is correct in analysis the rewards are given according to the difficulty of the situation according to the users knowledge. Your skeleton level plus others allowed system to think the enemy is weak, but there is no accuracy just guessing based on available information.]

I sighed as I heard this and quickly went to where the tunnel had broken. I hid myself under some of the debris and then took out the flower. Its beautiful yellow color like gold and its royal ruby tint made my monster core in my head beat violently. I took a deep breath atleast I tried and ate the flower.

[Commencing Evolution...]

I woke up in a strange place with mist filling each and every corner. I had no body, but when I focused I could move the mist to my will.

I looked in front and saw a long digital list on a blue panel like the systems ones.

As I read the various prompts the old adage "No one is born equal" kept coming to mind. Each race has its pros, but the Jade dragon is a baby and it's stats are all around better than everyone's. I easily got rid of Skelton general and Blue imp. Lightning guardian was good, but it was a glass canon. I remember those murderers in movies who acted mighty and better than everyone and I used to be annoyed because they could easily be shot in the head and all that power would be gone. So it was fiend of nowhere or baby jade dragon. Baby jade dragons longevity is good, but the part about it being stable must relate to being able to defend against mental attacks, but Fiend of nowhere kinda requires great mental strength for its survival card so I think that pro is gone. So its a pseudo immortality and endless energy to battle or unlimited power from slaughter and also a backup card.

I choose Fiend of nowhere.

[Evolution commencing]

...

20 hours later...

I felt a sense of breathlessness like I was drowning and began climbing towards something above where I could get release from this poisonous feeling. As my hand struck our of the airless despair I was in I found myself in a white cocoon. As air penetrated into my new lungs and light touched my eyeballs I realized I had a skin, nerves, muscles, organs! I tore open the cocoon and my naked body landed out.

I opened my status.

I smiled widely as I saw my status. To the side I saw a figure who I guessed was me. It had pale white skin like ice and long spikey black and white hair. Two Silver eyes. As I looked at myself I couldn't help but said in a self depreciating way "Ah. Im so handsome. My past life body Im sorry, but you were so ugly! Why was I so ugly? I thought I was handsome, but when I compare to this I looked like a pig. Curse you!" My sharp chin held some very sharp shark like teeth which were pearly white and sat in a row as I smiled widely.

I pulled myself out of the collapsed bricks and said "System use my stored exp."
