Speeding through the forest, the former slave elf came to a startling halt. Wiping her brow, she glanced through the trees.
'I forgot to grab a weapon that's actually useful in the forest!'
She glanced at the pair of dagger belted to her waist. They were worn and used to skin the dead beasts that were hunted down. Currently, they were useless as actual weapons.
Rin sighed to herself, then continued her run. She avoided many beasts, occasionally hiding whenever they caught her scent.
Climbing to the top of a tree, Rin was able to see the massive expanse of forest. It was breathtaking, a marvel for the eyes. To the north you could see the snow and ice. To the south was the sea, but trees were the only thing available for quite some time. To the east was the place Rin dreaded, while the west was home.
Dropping to the forest floor, Rin continued to make her way west. It was rather uneventful, so her mind drifted towards what was going on with Mina and her friends.
"Hopefully they're all okay. Ah well, best to hurry home and tell everyone about Mina. Then I can try to return! Maybe they'll be okay with it?"
-
"Vex you bastard! I told you not to touch her!"
Kat held a massive blade out towards Vex, the steel glinting with every trembling breath. Besides that blade, the ornate spear wielded by Melody was at his throat. Both women had tears in their eyes.
"This felt like a dream... buts it just a damn nightmare when monsters like you are around!"
Melody attempted to strike, her spear snapped in two with a wave of Vex's hand. Melody was sent flying, landing hard beside Fubuki and Inferna. The two of them were stunned, unable to remove their eyes from Mina's motionless body. Her beautiful silver eyes were hollow and blank.
"H-hey. Why is that warmth gone? Why is it so cold now?"
Chisana was confused, her eyes bandaged up by Melody during Mina's fight against the massive phantom. Suriza coiled around her, her tail skillfully patting the small demons head.
"Don't fret, Chisana. Everything will be okay."
Her voice trembled as she spoke, her eyes on Melody as she got onto one knee. Asahi was healing her, but heavy bags were under her eyes. She had expended all of her magic to heal Mina to no avail.
"Rest, Asahi. You're in no shape to use your magic. These two... their in no shape to even move."
Melody gave a playful smile, but it faded as she moved back to her feet. She started forward, ready to help Kat, who was barely fending off Vex's advances.
"Oh dear Dyna, you know I brought you here for myself. Why must you push me away when all I want is to make you mine?"
Kat was furious, her tears flying off her face with every heavy movement.
"Everything is your fault! You killed me, you messed up this world, you killed Mina! You think I'll ever marry someone so pathetic?! You think I belong to you?! FUCK OFF!"
Kat swung down, her blade shoved deep into the ground. Kicking it and snapping the blade, Vex approached Kat with casual steps. He reached for her, his hand stopped by Melody. She had thrown small blades, each only visible if you truly looked for them.
"Hands off my Master's lover!"
"Hmph. Your Master is nothing more than a corpse. You're free to go wherever you please, human... on second thought, why aren't you trying to kill those beasts? I'm pretty sure your race was the first... hmm. I'll need to check on that."
Kat used her chance, swinging her fist into his face. Vex stepped back, Melody's blades falling from his skin.
"Always the face with you! Ever since we met, you've punched me directly in the nose. By the divinity in me, I guess I should just stop worrying about this skin."
Kat and Melody watched in horror as the old man dropped to the floor, his back torn open in a violent manner. In his place was a new man, one that appeared to be a dark elf. His skin was almost grey while his eyes were a bright yellow. Short black hair clung to his head, seemingly gelled back.
"So you really were a Dark God."
Vex smiled, his teeth sharp.
"Of course. I left one stupid, pathetic world for this one! I became the Supreme God here, leaving my old world behind. Oh their faces! I'd have loved to have seen them at least once... but I get to do my experiments in peace here. So many fun things to do, yet barely anyone to do it to. Of course, I could just use my research on your toy. Maybe even bring her back."
Vex stroked his beard, now short and black. A wicked smile appeared on his face as he shook his head.
"Nah. Not worth the effort. I have enough slaves already!"
Kat clenched her hands, her nails digging into her palms.
"Mina... I'm so sorry!"
Launching a final attack, Kat was instantly hung up in the air by her throat.
"No, no, no. You can't hit me again. I'm plainly tired of playing with you. Now you'll sit still and be my trophy. Be good and I may let you make a grave for her... after her body decomposes. Hahaha!"
"You're... mad."
Kat barely spoke the words, Vex's grip tightening. His other hand had already suspended Melody as well, her own movements a vain struggle. She kicked and scratched, but every bit of damage faded.
"Stop your struggling or I'll snap your neck!"
Melody stopped, not due to his threat but because she couldn't breath. She was nearly unconscious when Vex finally dropped her, her eyes fluttering as she inhaled deeply.
"Disgusting. Now dear, let's get you-"
"Hahaha. Oh Vex."
