She showered me who just woke up with a pack of questions. I tried to observe the two of them.
The person she calls Satomi is crying from a distance, it seems she is relieved to see me wake up.
But ..
I don't recognize them at all, nor do I have any memories of them.
Who are they?
They call me Aragi ... is that my name ..?
It seems,
I lost my memory..
=====
I am confused.
I don't know what to answer. On the other hand, I don't want to make things more complicated.
Should I tell them the truth?
I tried to open my mouth, and said a few words.
"Y-yes, Auntie. I still remember everything.." A few seconds after I answered his question, I myself was surprised by my voice.
Heavy and deep, but sounded calm. So this is my voice?
This person named Aunt Tsanae hugged me again. Burst into tears.
Looks like I've been asleep for quite a while, which makes them very worried.
The young woman who she calls as my sister is approaching. She has stopped crying, though I can still see the tear marks on her face.
"Welcome back, Aragi." He put his hand on top of my head, and made a hand gesture like she was stroking my hair.
I can only reply with a smile, because I'm also afraid if i said something wrong. She gave me something wrapped in cloth, and tied with rope.
"Lucky charm, I made it for you." Satomi handed me the charm, or talisman she made, and I politely accepted it.
"T-thanks," I said, quite impressed by the gift. Simple, but beautiful. The cloth used to wrap the amulet is light green velvet.
I put it around my neck just like a necklace. I thought I liked this gift.
I look around me.
My gaze fixed on a small mirror located on the table.
I'm curious, how does my face looks like?
So, I tried to reach it with my arm.
"Aragi, we will pick you up in three days. You still need rest, so take care of yourself." I had not had time to reach the mirror before suddenly, Aunt interrupted.
I just nodded slightly, and watched them leave the room.
"Aragi-kun, call us if you need something, okay?" Said the doctor who treated me.
That's all he said. It seems like he knows that I lied about my condition, but he chose to remain silent.
"Thank you," I tried to bow my body as a sign of gratitude.
The doctor left the room first.
"Congratulations on your recovery, don't forget to take medicine regularly and sleep before ten at night. See you later." Said the nurse, before finally following the doctor's steps.
"Fuhh.." I breathed a sigh of relief. At least my family members weren't aware of my amnesia
I took the mirror, and pointed the glass at my face.
"O-oh,"
I looked at the reflection of my face in the mirror. My skin is pale white, it seems because I have rarely been exposed to sunlight, meanwhile my hair is straight black.
Nothing flashy, nothing bad, but not exactly perfect.
I put down the mirror and tried to get another object.
A piece of paper. More precisely, patient history papers.
"Hoshizora Aragi, 20 years old, October 18, 1995, Nakano District, Tokyo Prefecture."
Hoshizora, huh?
"Hoshizora, the starry sky.." I muttered.
I opened the second sheet, there were details about the accident I had, and my treatment history.
Road accident, January 7, 2013, Shinjuku, Tokyo.
Details: A red sedan crashes into a black SUV right at the Shinjuku highway intersection.
Number of victims who died: 1 person
Number of seriously injured victims: 3 people
Cause: Driver Drowsiness
"I've been in a coma since 2013..? In that case, it's been two years I've been lying here?" I thought. My guess is I have a concussion or some other symptom that's causing amnesia.
I dropped my body and lay on the bed. Soft, comfortable.
"Hahhh...." I took a deep breath. Look around me.
The clock pointed to 7 PM, and the room that had been quite busy suddenly became quiet.
"Is it okay, lying like this..." I complained, worried that something untoward would happen if I continued acting.
Bored, I tried to get out of bed, tried to stand up. At first, I wobbled, and I had a hard time balancing my legs.
"A-ah," I clung to the bed, trying to stand up even when limping. After a few tries, I was able to stand up without holding on.
It's scary when you forget the most basic instincts of being a two-legged mammal.
I tried to move my legs, and came to the hospital corridor.
'Crowded' is the word that comes to my mind when I see how busy this hospital is. Medical personnel passing by while doing their job.
Some rushed to bring reports, brought patients, or even the patients themselves were busy passing through this corridor.
I just walked slowly, watching the hospital activities. Until I saw a large window installed in the west corridor.
"What is that..?" I asked myself, approaching the window. Made of glass, the night sky is clearly visible from there while showing off the full moon and the beautiful sea of stars.
Amazed, I couldn't take my eyes off the sight.
Right beside the window, there is a sign that explains this facility.
'Observation Window' is the name. This wasn't made for knowledge purposes, but rather for people with mental illnesses such as stress or trauma, so that they can relax for a while.
I don't wanna just watch. I want to feel the gentle night breeze washing my body. So I opened the large window, even though it was forbidden.
Breathtaking...
Trapped in a small room for 24 months made me feel like a human who had just experienced the outside world.
"Ah, my necklace.." I remembered the Talisman aka necklace that Satomi gave me, so I took it off from my neck, and let it swing in the wind.
Just looking at such a simple thing can make me smile.
"H-hey, don't open this window carelessly!" an adult male hand patted my shoulder suddenly. From his clothes, he was a janitor sweeping the corridor.
I was shocked, plus the wind gusted me off guard and the necklace I was holding flew away in the wind.
"E-eh!? Excuse me!" Shocked, I ignored the janitor and immediately jumped over the window. Luckily the corridor is on the first floor.
I looked at every direction, looking for where the wind took the necklace. It shouldn't be too far from here.
"There, apparently.." After observing the surroundings for a long time, I found my necklace hanging from a tree branch that was quite far away.
No wonder, considering the wind intensity here is quite strong.
I ran barefoot, towards the tree. Without realizing it, it turned out that my run was quite fast. Not only that, my body also feels fit and looks athletic.
It seems like I used to train my body and doing sports.
I looked back and found that I was quite far from the hospital.
"Huft.. let's hope i can reach it." I tiptoed and tried to reach my necklace. Since it's not very high, I don't have to bother picking it up.
"Got it," I succeeded, but something looks odd on this necklace. The fabric is almost untied, almost revealing its contents.
Without thinking, I tried to tighten the ties. However, because the stuffing of the necklace was too fragile, I accidentally crushed it.
Right after the necklace cracked, I felt an intense pain in my eyes.
"G-gaaaaahh..!" My eyes burned and gave off some kind of substance or energy that looked like blue flames.
At first it was only my eyes, but more and more the pain spread to my chest, hands and finally, to my whole body.
"C-coughh..!" not confined to my outer body, but my internal organs also felt the same pain. In the end, i vomited.
I rolled my body on the ground to minimize the pain and tried to get up.
"Huft.. huft .. j-just what .. what happened...?" after the pain gradually disappeared, I tried to regain my breath and tried to focus my gaze.
My vision is blurry. My condition now is exactly the same as someone with a history of eye disease and has lost his glasses.
I tried to move my numb hands.
"D-damn, what's with this necklace!?" I cursed the necklace which had caused me pain.
"Woof!"
My ears pick up on some familiar sounds. The sound of a dog, whether the sound of a wolf was clearly heard behind me.
Without lingering, I immediately turned my body which was still weak.
"Ggggrhrhrhhhhh…."
Two wolves. But they didn't look like ordinary wolves.
The posture is larger, and the fur is darker. Their saliva was dripping, their eyes red as blood.
I swallowed my saliva, and my body started shaking. If the wolves were drooling, it would be cold sweat on my body.
"J-jerk, such a lucky charm, huh..?," I cursed to myself.
