*Aaron's POV
I smiled inside as I witness how Dianne was able to smoothly walk away from her mom. I'm so proud of this sass.
I sneakily backed away from the door as planned. We will definitely laugh at this tomorrow. "Aaron. Come back here." I heard a soft but commanding voice from behind. What does she want now? Pretending to not hear anything, I calmly walked my way to my parked car. I did not hear any footsteps from behind and I wasn't called either. The odds are on my favor... or that's how it's supposed to be.
A blinding headlights forced me to stop on my tracks. Funny it may seem, a very familiar Black SUV parked in front of my vehicle. A few seconds after, the window of the driver's seat lowered down and a strong narrow eyes met mine.
Great! Here comes her Dad!
Though I already locked eyes with the Kraken, I still wanted to have a shot of escaping this predicament and so I tried to excuse my self from all the trouble as I whistle my way down the street and on to my car. "Son, that's rude. Didn't you see me?" He exclaimed as he opens and shuts the door behind him.
I was like a rabbit trapped in the darkness of the world. I slowly turned my head and smiled awkwardly. "He.. hel.. hello Uncle. Good evening. I have to go home now." I was so nervous that I can feel my knees wobble.
"Not so fast honey" Dianne's mom replied instead. "You need to come inside and help us understand the situation" Awesome! How can I explain when I don't understand anything myself.
"What situation are we talking about here Aaron?" Uncle Doug asked me.
"No.. not.. nothing sir. Nothing ha.. happened" Oh fuck!.. I'm really gonna faint now.
"Why don't we come inside and talk about this?" He said grabbing my arm and dragging me inside. I don't want to die!
The wide entrance seemed like a crocodiles mouth, waiting for it's prey, ready to devour and consume its victim within minutes. The coldness of air outside was nothing compared to the ice - like temperature I'm getting from my nape, down to my finger tips and on to my toes.
I did not even realize that I'm now sitting on their coach. Did I really faint? I can't seem to remember what happened in between. I noticed that Aunt Margot is in the kitchen and Uncle Doug is not around as well.
This is my chance to withdraw. I stood up and bravely stride to not create unnecessary sound.
"Where are you going Son?" A very masculine voice startled me. This is really not going well.
"Were you trying to run away?" His voice is now louder.
"No s.. sir! Com.. comfo.. comfort room. I need to pee Sir.. sorry!" I lied. This might be my last day on Earth.
When I reached the comfort room, I immediately took out my phone and texted my best friend.
"You better get down here now. Your parents brought me inside".. and since I have nowhere to run, I decided to come up with a new plan. Even though, I haven't discussed this with my best friend, I know she will understand, she should.. hopefully.
I returned to the living room and there I saw her parents sitting down comfortably. I sat across them and braced myself for a series of questions.
"Aaron honey. I'm so sorry to put you through this, but other than her family... You're the next person who knows our daughter so well. So we need honest answers. Okay?" Aunt Margot said to start the conversation.
I definitely can't say no to that. So I gritted my teeth and swallowed my pride.
I kneel down and bowed my head. Took a deep breath as I close my eyes.
Here's to whatever.
"I'm dating your daughter. It's been over a year now. I apologize for keeping this a secret but that was Dianne's wish and I respect her.
We had a huge fight earlier just like any other couple do from time to time. So please forgive us for disturbing your beautiful night!"
I panted. That was the longest and fastest speech I have to deliver in three seconds. I just hope I bought enough time for Dianne to come and save me from this hell.
"Dating at your age is good my son. There's nothing wrong with that. Besides, we have always liked you... But what we can't understand is the argument you had. What happened that made our daughter that mad?"
Oh no! I did not prepare an answer for that. I'm losing my shit now. Kill me please.. just kill me.
"Aaron, my son. You have to answer"
His firm and low voice echoed in my head.
"Dianne saw me with another girl sir. But that was a senior visiting the school and she mistook it as me cheating. She approached us and slapped her and they had a bit of hair pulling at the middle of the school. She got mad at me and won't let me explain." Another three seconds of my life seemed to be an infinite loop. How did I come up with these lies?
I can feel my sweat running down my face. I can't even look up yet as I'm so afraid to meet their glares.
That's when Dianne arrived at last.
"Mom?! Dad!?" She shouted. I felt relieved hearing her voice that I started to doze off while still kneeling. I didn't hear their conversation anymore untill uncle Doug raised his voice. This is getting very complicated.
Dianne ran upstairs and I wanted to comfort her. I gathered my courage and I stood up.
"Allow me to talk to her Sir. It's my fault so don't be too hard on her"
I no longer waited for their reply. I ran upstairs and luckily Dianne is still about to open her door.
I grabbed her hand and faced her to me. She really seemed pissed. I haven't seen this side of her in a long time.
"Dianne, I'm so sorry. I.. I really am sorry.!" Was all I can say.
"Fuck that Aaron! You know better!"
She snapped at me. She broke away from my grip and she forcefully opened the door to get inside but before she knew it, I was quick enough to swing the door open and invite myself inside.
"Let's talk Dianne" I told her while looking at her eyes and cuffing her face.
