Since Jae had never played human games before, Bummie wanted to pick out the simplest thing to play. The one he chose was a popular and old carnival game. With this ideal game in mind, he set off to the stall.
When they got to the stall Jae had already gotten hyper from seeing all the other games. At this point, nothing could disappoint Jae. Then again, it was easy to disappoint Jae.
The stall was carnival-themed. It had about seven shelves stacked with clowns, the quantity increasing while the size decreasing going up. While the shelves were to the left side of the booth, on the right there was a door.
Where the prizes were stored.
While there were stuffed animals hung on the outline, those weren't the ones you received. They were there mostly to advertise. However, the stuffed animals are included in the victory gift. They were amongst your choices, but not your only choices. They were stuffed turtles, dolphins, sharks, and even mermaids.
Awkward
Sooner than later, a woman with long blond hair walked out from the door on the right.
"Oh, hey Bummie! Strange to see you here." The woman greeted.
"Hey, Lisa! I'm showing my friend around since he's new here. I wanted him to have fun, so we'll take two turns." Bummie held up two fingers then searched for his wallet.
"Sure, and it's on the house." Lisa began to set up the game.
"Really?" Bummie wanted to pay.
"Yeah! You're like the king of the beach! Besides, you two look like you're having fun." Lisa insisted with a smile.
"Thanks," Bummie smiled.
"No problem, whenever you're ready." Lisa waited patiently as she held her hand on the latch.
"When she pulls the latch, balls will come flowing down and we'll throw them at the clowns to try to knock them down. Ok?" Bummie faced Jae.
"Got it!" Jae smiled.
Bummie chuckled then nodded towards Lisa.
The buzzer rang and the game began. The two eagerly picked up the balls and threw them at the clowns, successfully knocking most of them down. They laughed and squealed as some bounced back towards them. As time ran down their speed increased and the throws became sloppy. As the buzzer sounded and the clowns lowered, the duo's score was revealed.
It was 124.
Bummie cheered happily as Jae stood confused.
"We won!" Bummie chuckled.
"Oh, yay!" Jae cheered along with him.
Lisa giggled at the cute duo.
"You can pick one big prize and one medium-sized prize," Lisa told as she pointed at the stuffed animals.
"Which one do you want, guppy?" Bummie looked to Jae.
A nickname might have accidentally slipped out.
"Hm, swimming with dolphins is fun, but turtles are so cute." Jae didn't know which to choose.
Lisa questioned the dolphin part but shrugged it off.
"Here," Lisa gave the pair a large turtle and a medium-sized dolphin.
"Thanks!" Both Bummie and Jae spoke in sync.
They turned to each other and laughed.
The two waved goodbye as they resumed their walk down the boardwalk.
"No problem! Come back anytime!" Lisa shook her head at the cute couple as they walked off.
With that, the lifeguard and mermaid were off again.
The last stop on the duo's little lunch trip was a gift shop.
On the walk there, the two had managed to calm down a bit. They were peacefully basking in the good energy. The day had gone amazing so far.
Bummie opened the door for Jae, allowing him to walk into the gift shop.
The name of the store was 'A Pirate's Treasure' and the color was gold to match. The inside was crammed with all types of souvenirs. When you first walked in there was a table with cups and bowls. Hoodies and other types of clothing hung on the wall behind it. Further in, there were small items like keychains, jewelry, and photo frames.
Many tables filled the space. Rocks, seashells, and candles were on display. The unlimited options easily overwhelmed you.
However, all Jae felt was astonishment.
"Wow!" Jae looked to Bummie as if to say 'are you seeing this?'.
Bummie laughed, Jae was adorable.
"Go ahead, pick out whatever you want." Bummie gestured with his hand.
Jae sped off in a frenzy around the store. He looked high and low, end to end, for something he wanted. Jae wanted to find something for them both of them. The sea creature did pick up a cup he liked, but that wasn't his goal. The mermaid sighed, nothing felt right.
Then he saw it.
It was two small spheres that came in a packet together. One represented the moon, while the other represented the sun. That was it!
Jae quickly grabbed it and took his item to Bummie.
"Oh, a cup and charms?" Bummie observed the two.
"Mhm!" Jae smiled.
"Is this all you want?" Bummie expected him to ask for the whole store.
"Yup!" Jae nodded.
"Ok," Bummie took the souvenirs to the counter to pay.
"Hey, funny to see you here!" The cashier said as she began to ring up the items.
"Yeah, Lisa said the same thing. I'm here for this one." Bummie pointed to Jae.
"Cool! I see you like the couple's charms. I wanted those, but didn't have anyone to wear it with." The cashier rambled.
Bummie blushed while Jae stood clueless.
"Oh, my name is Jen. You two are cute by the way." Jen introduced herself to Jae.
Bummie's embarrassment increased.
Jen gave the price.
"Y-yeah, thanks!" Bummie stuttered out as he paid the amount.
"B-bye." Bummie rushed out with Jae.
"Bye!" Jen called out.
Couple charms? Cute together? Ugh, he wished.
"Why'd you get a pack of two?" Bummie asked Jae as they walked back to his station.
It was almost 1:30.
"For us of course!" Jae beamed
Bummie died.
After their eventful day out Bummie decided to go straight home.
Yeah, it was nice showing Jae around. They had lots of fun, but there was a big problem. Jae still knew almost nothing about the world. Throughout the day Jae asked Bummie various questions about what this and that was. While Bummie was happy to answer those questions, to everyone else it was more than strange that Jae didn't know better than a four-year-old.
If Jae was out an hour longer, they would surely be caught. So Bummie immediately left to where he could teach Jae in the comfort of his own home. It was a lot safer like that.
Currently, Bummie was watching Jae watch tv. I know that sounds weird, but Jae was pretty and it was funny to see his reactions. As Bummie taught Jae everything about life on land he realized something.
He knew nothing about Jae or his home.
"Hey, Jae." Bummie had thought about how he would ask the mermaid.
"Hm?" Jae was still fixated on the tv.
"What's it like underwater?" Bummie sat up and paused the tv.
"Hm, It's colorful and fun. It's a lot heavier under there though." Jae explained the pressure.
Bummie nodded.
"There's a lot down there, but it can get really scary sometimes. Also, super boring. I had friends, but we have to migrate so we only saw each other for a short while." Jae smiled.
"Friends? Did they have tails and stuff like you? Or were they sea animals?" The possibility that there are more of Jae's kind was so cool to Bummie.
"Hm. Bammie's tail is kinda like mine, but he's an eel. Jackie is an octopus and has eight legs. Mark is see-through and has super long things from his head. He's a jellyfish!" Jae tried his best to describe his friends.
"But from here, on up, they look like land creatures." Jae pointed from his waist to the top of his head.
"Wow." Bummie couldn't even imagine it.
"Yeah! They're super cool! If they come, I want them to see the land too!" Jae daydreamed.
"That's sweet." Bummie smiled.
Hiding Jae's tail was hard, so how was he supposed to hide an eel, octopus, and jellyfish as well?
