P R O L O G U E: The Letter

"Daddy!"

My father looked up and immediately smiled when he saw me. He opened his arms for a hug which resulted in me running faster.

But before I could reach him, I tripped and everything went black.

I peaked around the corner and there I saw a silhouette beating the life out of my mother. I was about to shout when a hand covered my mouth.

I turned around and everything faded into black again.

Now there we were my mom, my sister, and I are currently in the living room watching tv when suddenly there was a knock on the door. Mom stood up from the couch and went to answer the door. I looked up and there stood a wolf warrior, his head hanging low in sadness.

"Are you Mrs. Castello?" The warrior asked.

Mom nodded hesitantly, "Is something the matter, sir?" Mom asked.

The wolf handed something to my mom which I couldn't see. Whatever it was, mom suddenly fell onto her knees, her left hand went to her mouth as tears flowed down her face and her right hand clutching the object the wolf gave her.

"I'm sorry for your loss"

I shot up from my bed, heavily panting while clutching my chest, feeling my heart pound. I looked to my bedside table where my clock glowed '3:24 a.m.'. I sighed and moved back so my back was leaning against the headboard.

2 Years Later

The doorbell rang, Mrs. Catello and her husband ran to open the door. Once they did, they saw no one. They looked down and saw an envelope. They picked it up - closing the door while she opened the letter.

Dear Ms. Dusk and Dawn Castello,

We have been informed about both of you by an anonymous wolf and after a few discussions.

On behalf of the royal DeNiro family and the packed council, we feel immense pleasure to inform you that you and your sister have been one of the werewolves that have been chosen to join our academy.

It is also urgent that as soon as you read this letter, the Alpha King's Beta will immediately pick you up tomorrow at 6, not a second after.
