Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven

Ray was waiting patiently when Raine walked out of the house. Her eyes were sore and she made them look worse by rubbing them. She got into the car and gripped the straps of her backpack tightly as Ray peeked at her through the mirror.

"Hey." He took off his headphones and started the car. His eyes zeroed in on her neck, there were horrible bruises. It looked like hand imprints, like someone had tried to strangle her and she looked like she hadn't slept.

She quickly pulled her shirt up to cover her neck. He was curious about her, but she obviously wasn't going to tell him anything.

The ride was quiet, Raine needed it. She needed to be prepared but somehow she didn't care what happened to her, it could never beat what she had gone through the night before. Thinking about it made hurt her head. She leaned back on the seat and looked outside the window as they drove past buildings in a blur. Last night, she had a nightmare that kept her up for a long time. Now she looked like a moving corpse and felt so sad that it seemed like she carried an elephant on her chest, all thanks to Catherine's 'tantrum'.

"We're here." Ray announced with what he wanted to look like an encouraging smile. Raine merely glanced at him, she had been too deep in her thoughts to realize they had arrived. Everything looked the same as the day before but that did not ease her stress. She opened the door and stepped out quickly, her fingers clenched the straps of her bag tightly.

She stood for a while relishing the safety of being hidden between cars. A moment later, she took a deep breath and walked towards the school without a word to the driver. He didn't notice anyway, too busy ogling girls.

Luckily, she got into the school without bumping into the boys that had cornered her before. After collecting her books from her locker, she headed to her first class; English. The class would be empty, giving her more time to compose herself for the day only a handful of people were in the school, the rest wanted the bell to go off before they went in.

She entered the class and gasped at what she saw. There was a boy chugging down a buttload of pills. She hurried over to him and slapped the bottle out of his hands without a thought. She was about to start a lecture about suicide when she got a good look at the boy's face. She gasped again. It was the same boy that had been staring at her in class the previous day.

And he was doing it again, staring at her intensely. "Y-you? W-why w-were you-"

"Jin?" He whispered softly and stretched out his hand to her face, the same way Catherine had done. She jerked away from him and his eyes became watery, he looked seconds away from breaking down.

"I-I'm sorry, Jin. Please forgive me." He whimpered. She was at a loss for words. Why was he acting like they knew each other? Maybe he was crazy.

"Um… I d-don't kn-know wh-what y-you're talking about b-but d-don't try t-to kill y-yourself again." She cautioned and he looked up at her and frowned.

"Kill?" He croaked.

"Y-yeah, like s-suicide." She sheepishly pointed to the pills scattered on the floor.

He was silent for a while then snorted. "Vitamin C."

Her eyes widened at his indication. "B-but w-why

s-so many?"

"You know why, Jin." His expression turned serious.

"I-I d-don't, I'm not J-jin." She said with emphasis, he was beginning to creep her out.

He was about to speak when someone barged into the class. "Young!"

They both turned to the door to see Desire rush into the class to Young. She hugged him tightly and whispered in his ear. Raine awkwardly moved away from the pair and took a seat at the other end of the class. She pulled out the things she needed and waited for the class to begin. His name was Young, she liked the sound of it. She wondered how he and Desire were related, maybe he was her boyfriend. She unconsciously glanced and him and jolted when they made eye contact.

She faced forward, he was still staring at her and it made her feel weird. The bell rang and the class began to fill up. She sighed in relief when the teacher came in and silenced the class but her joy was short-lived when he called her up to introduce herself to the class. Why couldn't she just catch a break?
