'Damn, it's not easy at all'
Evan was sweating heavily, he gripped the Trinity Blade tightly in his hands, his eyes fixed towards his opponent
'I was an idiot to think learning divine arts was easy, when I have this sword in my hand, I feel Powerless, the opposite of what I feel when I use my other sword and even worse my opponent is.....'
He stared towards the girl who made him feel so powerless for the first time in his life. She had long blonde hair and an indifferent expression, unlike Evan she was leisurely gripping her sword in her right hand as if it was too easy for her
While Evan was thinking of ways to defeat her, she suddenly ran towards him and swung her sword from the left, evan hurriedly placed his sword horizontally to defend himself
Bang
A force field suddenly came in between and stopped the collision between the two swords, but evan flew back due to impact and crashed on the walls of the arena, whereas his opponent didn't even move a step backward.
Few seconds later a voice announced
[ Evan Reeves's badge has been destroyed, Claudia Malfoy has won this duel ]
Evan was lying on ground with blood gushing out of his head, he tried to stand up but was unable to do so, he looked towards his chest and found two pieces of his badge that broke due to impact
Once he found out that he really did lost, he no longer tried to stand up and just looked towards his opponent
'....She is strong like hell'
His vision finally blacked out as he fell unconscious while another announcement occurred
[ With this win, Claudia Malfoy is now ranked 2nd in class A2 ]
The crowd started cheering, but Claudia didn't change her expression, she was standing alone in the large arena but her mind was lost in some other thoughts
'Before the collision, he tried to break my badge but failed because I was quicker than him....
did he thought he could win?
Can a commoner dare to think of winning infront of me?
Maybe I shouldn't have gone easy on him from the start...'

It was black all around the place, but evan could clearly see everything around him, it was a small empty room that had no source of light or maybe the walls were dyed black
'huh a dream?'
"It's not a dream" He heard a voice behind him
He turned around but there was nothing...
"Who are you? Where am I?" His hands reached the hilt on his waist but his sword was no longer there
"I sense a great danger, you have to be cautious"
"That's all I can say for now..."
"What do you mean?" he opened his eyes and found himself sitting on a bed in the infirmary, when suddenly the door opened
"Hey Evan, you are finally awake, let's go we have to see the next duel, it's going to be epic"
A young men in casual cloths and spiky hairstyle entered the room
"was it a dream..." It was just too realistic
"What? This is no time to think about dreams, let's go or we won't make it"
Harvey grabbed my hand, pulled me up to stand and both of us went to the same arena, where I was lying down a while ago
The crowd was cheering loudly because the next duel was between the two most popular elites in the academy. This cheering became even more louder after the announcement
[ The next duel is between Nicholas Gibson, ranked first in class A2 versus Darian Jagger, ranked first in class A1 ]
Before starting the match, both of them stood facing each other in the centre of the arena and shaked hands with one another with a smile on both of their faces
"They seem to be good friends" Harvey looked towards me to seek validation
"Are you sure about that?" I asked him while looking at the arena
Both of them were trying to hold each other's hand tightly to show dominance, when without fading off the smile from his face, Nicholas said
"Good luck to you, Let's have a great duel"
and Darian replied "Yes but make sure to give me a good fight, I don't want to be disappointed after the match ends"
Veins nearly popped out on Nicholas's forehead after hearing that reply, but while maintaining a smile on his face, he reverted
"You don't have to worry about that"
After watching all this Harvey said "I take my words back, I wonder how can they become rivals in just a month since the training started"
"No reason" I replied
"huh" Harvey looked confused
"Both of them are ranked first in their classes and are now aiming to ranked at top in all the first year students, and because only one of them could take that spot, they naturally have rivalry between them" I explained
"That's right" Victoria joined the two of us
"But haven't both of you become good friends in only a month as well" She looked happy because her total points made her ranked third in our class
"That's right, even though we nearly fought before the ranking tournament started" Harvey smiled remembering that time
"huh what caused you to nearly fight each other?"
"Before the tournament started, I told Evan that I don't want to participate because I didn't want to put shame on my family name"
"But why didn't you participated even though you were an elite"
"It was exactly because I am an elite"
"what?" she looked confused
"The sword passed down in my family, 'Ravenbrand' is ranked sixty third out of the sixty nine swords recorded, one of the weakest. To make up for it's lack of power, the warriors of our family used to gain expertise in sword arts but because this year they are conducting tournament early and because I couldn't even master the basics, I decided to not participate"
"But with your sword you can defeat almost all of the commoners"
"And what then? will they acknowledge me if I defeated all the commoners?
No
The next week, when all the big families will gather, they won't ask how many commoners I defeated but rather how many elites I won against and which family's young master did I won against, because of these reasons I decided to not participate, as even if I did, it would only bring shame to my family"
"Your inferiority complex still pisses me off"
I blurted out my thoughts without realizing it
"ha ha does it?" He laughed but I bet he was feeling sad deep inside
"Thinking of yourself to be inferior is the worst thing you can do to yourself" I stated
"Hmm you think so, but I think you should consider what's realistic as well"
"Stop naming your delusions as reality"
The atmosphere was getting tense, before they fight, Victoria swiftly changed the topic
"Oh that reminds me, I heard class A3 wasn't allowed to participate in the tournament"
"Right, I heard about that too" Seems like Harvey didn't wanted to continue this conversation as well
"But why is it so?" Victoria asked
"I don't know for sure but..." he stopped in between
"But what?" she sounded impatient
"but I heard a rumor that all students fought each other because of some reason and were thus given punishment to not participate and help in organizing the 'Warriors Homecoming event'"
"The 'Warriors homecoming event' huh, that sure is a grand name" I was finally interested
"Yeah, The last year's batch, that graduated from the academy, is said to be the strongest of all time. They have recently destroyed a demon stronghold by using one of their own portals to go there and so, this event is organized to celebrate humanity's victory" Harvey seemed to be proud while telling this
