Chapter 9 - chapter 9

(Lots of gore in this episode, be warned)

Evony~

A cold breeze stirred me awake as I shivered and curled up closer to the warm bodies around me. Opening my eyes lazily I could still see the snow slowly falling around us. Yawning I looked around at my friends and family all peacefully asleep. I internally smiled at the sight and stood up, shaking off all the snow that had accumulated onto my back. I then started to stretch like a cat.

The forest around us was covered in a healthy layer of snow, leaving only a few sticks and rocks poking out from underneath. There was even some snow atop the pine trees that reached to the sky.

It was starting to get dark outside as the run fell away, leaving us in the cold of the night. It was significantly darker now then it was when we had fallen asleep, and everyone seemed to be enjoying their rest.

Taking a few steps away from everyone I started sniffing out the area, my wolf was awake and curious as ever. After a few moments of sniffing around I noticed something strange, a single speck of black snow started to fall.

It landed on my nose, and instead of melting it irritated my nostrils causing me to sneeze. Strange. Looking back at my friends and my father they were all still asleep. I noticed more small specks startling to fall and sniffed the air. The scent of smoke was faint but enough to make me realize it wasn't black snow...its was ash.

Running over to everyone I barked and nipped at them waking them up.

"Get up, get up!" They did so groggily, not very please by the rude awakening.

I started running in the direction of the pack hoping I was wrong, hoping that this wasn't happening now of all times...

It took a moment for the others to realize what was happening but they were quick to follow.

Once we got in view of the pack, my heart sank. Everything was on fire. Pack members were running to safety or trying to extinguish the burning flames that reached the sky.

No... Everything we had worked for was ruined... Our home was being burned! I could see some of the pack warriors fighting other wolves...rouges, there was already body's on the floor and blood staining the snow. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, this wasn't a takeover...this was a massacre.

Kade didn't care for the territory anymore, he only wanted revenge and blood... Everyone else was in shock from the sight and I knew we couldn't just stand there and watch, so I did what I knew was right and ran at the first rouge I saw.

The wolf was chasing a young body, seconds from jumping at the child, tearing into him, but I was faster. Tackling the rouge I lunged for his throat, ripping the flesh clean from his body.

Another came at me head-on, running full speed, using that to my advantage I rolled to the side before jumping onto his back and snapping the back of his neck with a single bite, causing the wolf to collapse, now limp.

A blonde colored wolf tackled me with a snarl and I barely dodged his teeth as he bit down. I snarled, barring my own fangs before biting him across the muzzle, he helped in response and jumped off of me before shaking his head and running away with his tail between his legs.

My victory was short-lived when I noticed one of the packs warriors get tackled to the ground by two rouges. I could hear his screams ringing through my ears, and I ran at them attacking one of his assailants, breaking their front leg, before ramming the other off of the poor man. I tore into the rouge, causing blood to splatter across my fur and the ground, the metallic scent was the only thing I could smell besides the smoke. Looking back at the man I could see I was too late, he was laying on the ground with his throat ripped out, and his blood pooling below him.

Looking around I could hear numerous screams, yelping or cries of pain, there were so many rouges and we were outnumbered 3 to 1.

I could see Darin and Leiah working together to get some people to safety while Ethan fought off some rouges. As I was distracted watching the bloodshed, two wolves came up on me, one pounced on top of me before I cloud react, I snapped at his face to keep his own fangs away from my neck, I may be strong but I was nowhere used to using my wolf form and struggled to push him off.

I finally got a bite in on the wolf's front paw making him yelp and back off but the second wolf quickly lunged in and bit into my hind leg causing a hell of my own to escape.

Adrenaline filled my veins and beating heart, along with a blinding fury I didn't even know I possessed.

Snarling I bit down onto the rouges face, no doubt going out one of his eyes and pulling off flesh as he released me to try and escape. A third wolf pounded on me and received deep claw marks into his stomach as my paws clawed him off. All three were too injured to continue to fight me, and I was getting worn out.

This body was new to me and it was still sore from the recent shift, my motor skills were far from perfect and everything still felt a bit overwhelming. Looking around I could spot my father fighting off five different rouges, with his own warriors.

We weren't prepared for this... To much blood was being shed and the rouges just kept coming...

I mind linked everyone to retreat and to regroup, we needed to fall back and go back to the blood moon territory, there everyone could be safe and recover, we will also have more fighters and cover. Leaving our home was the last thing I wanted but we have no choice, if we stay we will die.

Everyone started falling back and I continued to fight, I had to protect my pack we needed to give them time to escape.

Killing off two more rouges I was tackled through a wall of a burning house. Shaking off the dirt I snarled at the wolf and we lunged at each other, both of us receiving cuts and bite marks in the process.

I manage to ram him into a support beam, causing a part of the house to collapse onto the wolf killing him instantly.

The smoke was starting to get into my lungs and my vision was getting blurry. My fatigue started to come back as I panted and limped towards the hole in the wall, avoiding the fire as it licked at my fur. Looking outside into the burning night I could see mostly everyone had escaped and there were only a few rouges left.

I became dizzy, either from my sickness or from the smoke, im not sure. Everything was a blur. I noticed a black spot run across my vision at some of the wolves outside, the blur moved from one wolf to the next, killing them with ease. There were still plenty of others fighting and I couldn't see who was who.

The groan and crack of wood had me looking away, and up at the ceiling just as the rest of the house collapsed on top of me...

~~~
I awoke, in pain with pressure atop most of my body, I could feel something warm running down the side of my head and the smell of smoke was suffocating me. My body was weak and I was tired, even if I wasn't buried in the debris of a house I probably wouldnt be able to stand. I was lucky the fire hadn't burned me alive.
As my eyes grew heavy, a tall figure approached me, in human form. I tried to lift my head to look, to grow, to do anything but my body just wouldnt listen.
I could hear voices a distance away shouting out to one another... Rouges no doubt.
The figure came close to me and stopped, kneeling down beside my head. My vision began to fade as they reached down running their hand over my fur, the sensation, strangely enough, calmed me. He didn't say a word or make any move to hurt me, he only rubbed my ears lulling me further into sleep.
Looking up I tried to focus my eyes on the man above. Brown eyes met my own and I wondered who the stranger was, as I fell into darkness.
