"Close the gate. Everyone get ready!" General Lewis made loud order and soldiers went up on the walls and prepared two weapons.
Buckets with water for water guns and real weapons.
The big iron gate closed with a thud and another howl, now louder could be heard.
Even General Lewis went on the wall to see and got stunned.
That girl already told him about zombies that evolved and they already killed a few, but having a group of evolved zombies together is another sight.
A group of a few dozen quick zombies that moved fast was a scary sight. Especially as they had scary long nails and seemingly were smarter than the ones that they killed before.
They stopped a bit further away and glanced at a few zombies that were shot dead before.
One of them went closer and was shot.
They moved almost simultaneously back and snarled at the base.
General Lewis waved his hand and a group of snipers went onto walls and concentrated. "Kill as many as you can."
"Yes, sir." Having a long-range weapon is a bit different than a normal gun so each of them concentrated and soon the sound of shots could be heard.
The zombies started falling like cut trees and except three that escaped, the rest fell dead.
When Anna Gale went back home she looked at the situation and snorted as she saw what happened. "They could have done this a long time ago."
It was evening in both worlds as time went linear, but Anna Gale had strange feelings so she followed the three zombies that stayed together and saw them moving towards the crowd that was surrounding the tall walls of the jail.
Jail... she almost forgot those people.
She narrowed the sight and saw a few people listlessly just sitting near the gates and rubbing their bellies.
Hunger is a hard thing and they couldn't even move anywhere.
"Do I have one gate left?" She asked as she used fates so often today that she lost track.
*You have one gate left with forty-seven minutes on.*
That was enough time for her to bring some food out. Now she knew where the food is in her storage so she quickly summoned the gate.
This storage is the only place that had a gate under the ground and she turned quickly the lights on the forklift and rushed to get a pallet of food.
A strange light appeared near the bunch of people and they got ready with their guns, but suddenly they saw a pallet with food coming out and gaped.
The pallet was put down and the shiny gate disappeared. When they started cheering another gate opened up not far away and another pallet of food appeared.
Finally, a third pallet appeared and a note.
"Unfortunately I can't help you often as opening the gate makes me lose energy. Zombies are afraid of water and get harmed by it. They hate loud noises and are attracted to it. Find a way to attract them all to one place where not many survivors are so I can send a bomb there. Stay alive and stop acting pitiful. You are all after all survivors."
They were stunned and first started unpacking the pallet with cans of food. They visibly called others to come and rushed inside with hands full of cans.
Another dozen people came out and started unpacking the pallets and transporting them inside.
She was not interested in them as she concentrated on the three zombies again and saw them gathering a few of similar-looking zombies together and moving away.
Yes, they went to the opposite direction of the base and left simple zombies alone.
Their movements were fast and they started gathering more as they rushed to the borders of town and went outside towards villages.
Luckily they followed the main road so it was easy to follow their movement and she realized now how fast they became as they became faster and faster...
These evolved ones must be avoided by any cause. When she starts traveling she better keep one gate ready for herself or she might die faster than she wants.
Strangely they just went straight and didn't enter other streets. Just went straight away.
The two girls already fell asleep so she went slowly down, put another log onto the fire and opened the map.
Their city was somewhat large and had a couple hundreds of thousands of people living there, but it was nothing considering the next town.
"Oh, no... they are gathering support." She felt all her blood leaving her body as she realized where they went.
Zombies from their city mostly moved to that town, followed by sounds and just thinking about millions of zombies coming to the base, she knew they had to do something, fast.
She glanced at her watch anxiously and when it clocked midnight she passed through the gate and entered the base right away.
General Lewis jumped from bed when he heard that the girl appeared and knew it must be bad if she appears in mid of night.
She looked at him with a serious expression. "I can't stay long as I don't want to spend my time for nothing. I told you I can open the map and see what is going on in the map that is already open?"
He nodded with a solemn expression. "Something happened?"
"Yes. I saw you killing zombies and three escaping. But next was that they went to the city, gathered similar zombies and went straight to the next city. Sir, most of the zombies from our city moved there. Our city is currently safer than the other city, but if those creatures gather a horde of strongly evolved zombies, we will have trouble. In the morning by the first light gather all available survivors and move to the city. There are some survivors in the jail and houses, get them as well. If a horde comes, I fear hiding in the attic or in the basement won't help them. Send survivors to dig ditches and put concrete in it so the water won't go into the ground. Raid all houses. If people don't listen, make them. This is not democracy time or time to get lazy. Everyone must survive. I will come and come out as well, telling you where are larger amounts of zombies so you could kill them. Now, tell me if there is a place with a lot of weapons and how I can get there. Maybe, just maybe I can go and bring more. You will need it."
General Lewis thought about it. "Start alarm. We will separate the work. Those that don't want to leave to gather survivors and supplies will dig ditches outside or will not get any food at all. Old people, pregnant women and children are excluded from both activities. You, go sleep a bit. We will need your help tomorrow."
He could see her sleepily looking at him and she disappeared into the shiny light.
