Chapter 1 - Remembrance

In the year of 2089, an old man could be seen lying on his hospital bed, holding the hand of his wife who was in the hospital bed next to them. They were surrounded by their four kids, and their six grandchildren. Everyone there could be seen with puffy eyes and tear stains down their face, with the exception of two people. The old man and his wife stared at each other with the brightest smiles on their faces in the last few minutes of their lives.

The old man, known as Kai Kasani, was remembering all the times he and his wife had had throughout their seventy five year marriage. Meeting her for the first time in Highschool, him finally working up the nerve to ask her on a date. His confession after their third date, their first kiss, going through college together. His proposal, their wedding, finding out that they couldn't have kids, adopting their first kid, their second, their third, their fourth. Raising all of them, them finding partners and giving them grand children.

Then a final memory. The day when his wife confessed at who she really was after his health started to decline. It was just a few weeks after his eighty-fourth birthday, when he went to the doctors for a regular checkup only to find that he had terminal lung cancer. At first his family was devastated, but he himself wasn't very perturbed. He lived a good life, he didn't regret anything. After calming his kids down, they left to go home, leaving just him and his wife.

His wife sat down with him and looked him dead in they eye and said, "Kai, I have to be honest with you now. I'm not really who you think I am... Well... I am, but I'm much more than that as well." As she said this her body begins to de-age, going back to when she was in her early twenties.

Kai silently looked at her but before he could say anything she continued, "I'm actually a goddess. Originally, I only came down to this mortal world because I was bored and wanted to entertain myself and see what it was like to live as a mortal. Over time, I fell completely in love with you. I felt like telling you this now, because I want to be honest with you about what will happen after you die."

Nodding his head Kai asked, "Are you not the woman that I grew to love, married, and adopted kids with?"

"I am."

"Then why does it matter what you are?"

She smiled and gave him a deep passionate kiss. After pulling away she said, "Well, the reason I bring this up is, I'm not gonna just let you die. Sure your body will die but I want to stay with you forever."

Staying silent for a while, Kai nodded and asked, "Then what will happen after I die?"

"Well... First of all I can't directly stay with you with my real body, otherwise your soul will evaporate just being near me. Even as the goddess of reality, it isn't something I can get around. So instead, I will meet you after you pass and give you a few wishes, and let you go to any world you wish."

"Any world? Like even those anime worlds I used to watch and read as a kid?"

"Yes even those. You can choose whatever world and whatever time period in that world. There are a few rules when doing so, but I will explain more once that time comes. Also we absolutely do not tell the kids. As much as I love them, this isn't something they should be brought into. Even if I could, I don't think it is a good idea bringing them along, it would only be confusing."

"I agree. Lets keep them in the dark and make them think we passed on, it will be better and safer this way."

As that last sentence came to his mind, he looked at his wife again, and smiled once more. He looked back at his kids and said, "Stop crying you brats. We won't be gone for good. We will be watching over you from wherever we may be." He wasn't lying when he said this. Just because he didn't want them involved, doesn't mean he doesn't want his wife, Sarlyn, to stop watching over them.

Not long after, he looked at his wife as she nodded at him, and at the same time, she shut her eyes as her heart monitor shut off, signifying she was passing on. He looked back at his kids and said, "Live happy you brats. I don't regret my life, so don't cry, making it seem like my life was shit." A few seconds after, his heart stopped and he passed.
