Aniel paused in the entrance to the hotel. This would be the first time they would meet in almost ten years. He could feel the anxiety kicking in. His hands began to tremble, beads of perspiration were beginning to form on his forehead.
Before his thoughts of fleeing could consume his mind, he entered the hotel. It was just the way he remembered it, only with a few modern tweaks to the architecture. Looking around, he noticed a small gift shop near the lobby and made a mental note to come back later.
Upon entering the lobby area, an inaudible gasp escaped him as he took in his surroundings. In the center of the lobby, there was a lounge with four couches, two green and two orange which faced each other forming a square. In the center of that square was a long black coffee table with a beautiful arrangement of roses in the center accompanied by the Times magazine's latest issues. Overhead, his eyes widened at the sight of the grand, crystal chandelier gleaming with soft yellow light evidently creating an ambient atmosphere.
Shaking out of his reviere, his eyes scanned the area searching for the mass of blond hair that he was so fond of. Finally, on the far side of the lobby, in front of the restaurant seated at one of the outdoor dining tables, he saw her.
Panic arose in him. He did not know what to do. Fleeing seemed pretty reasonable at this point but he knew came too far to give up now. Gathering his courage, he walked towards her and pulled out the empty chair opposite her.
The scraping sound of the chair made her look up. Their eyes connected and his breath caught in his throat. Slowly, he sat down keeping his eyes on her. He was mesmerized. She was even more beautiful than before. Her once short blond hair was now long and cascading down her back, her angular features on her face accentuated her grey eyes while her pristine white suit gave off an aura of excellence.
Taking in the woman before him, he could not help but feel proud. "Hi", he whispered. She smiled and chuckled. Aniel smiled at this. It reminded him of their very first date when they were sixteen.
Now, after years of being apart for the sake of their dreams, Aniel knew that this meeting was not by chance but by fate. Since now, his dream of a life with the person he loves is possible, he could not help but think of anything other than his future with the woman smiling in front of him.
