It takes me a moment to process things. Either way, Damon was intertwined in my fate. I could kill him, let him kill me, or marry him and renounce my fate as the destroyer. I wanted to renounce my fate as the destroyer but I didn't want to marry him. This would have to be a joint decision. "I can't make this decision alone, my lady. I don't want to marry him, as you know I would've rather been an eternal maiden, but if it could mean that I am no longer the destruction of the world." I trailed off.
Athena just nods her head, "I understand. I must warn you, as you travel along your journey, both of you will receive visions, or dreams, of your fates. Hopefully, this will help you decide what path you choose, it also means that he will see the same things you see, except from his point of view. That being said, it would probably be better to discuss these matters with him before he sees you killing him and decides to get to you first. I won't be able to help you much after this, but I will be your guide in times that you need it. I've taken a liking to you, Amethyst, you remind me of myself as a young goddess."
I barely hear the last words, as she had already started to disappear. I found myself grinning and saying, "Thank you, lady Athena."
The next thing I know, the door to the balcony is busting open and a ton of people are trying to come outside, Damon in the lead. I look at them like they're crazy, "What the hell are you guys doing?"
Damon looks at me with what's probably the same look that I'm giving the people, "Are you kidding? You've been passed out against the railing and the doors have been stuck for an hour and a half. Everyone was scared that you were going to fall off the damn train! How could you be so reckless?"
I look at him and I can see the worry in his eyes. "I'm fine," I tell everyone, "Please go back to your seats, so my companion and I can speak alone. There is nothing to worry about."
I grab Damon by the arm and pull him onto the balcony while shoving everyone back and closing the door. Most of the people look annoyed and go back to their seats, whereas some stick around for a moment before I give them a thumbs up and then I shoo them away with my hands. Once the last person walks away, I turn to Damon, "We need to talk."
His face forms into a surprised look, "She meant nothing to me, please don't leave me."
I look at him for a moment before remembering the lipstick marks, "This is not about that Damon. We are not together. It doesn't matter. This is about our fates."
He looks at me with an emotion that I can't quite read, "What about them?"
I roll my eyes, "We both know very well that our fates are intertwined. Unfortunately for you, they're permanently intertwined for all three of our fates."
When I mention that we have three fates he doesn't seem surprised so I continue talking, "Right now, the path I'm on means that I kill you. Which I don't want to do, no matter how crazy you drive me. The second fate for us, is that you kill me. I personally don't want any of these paths but I really don't like this one," I look at Damon and he's smirking. He already knows this, "And since you seem to already know these, then I don't even need to speak of the third one."
"No, please go on, I have no idea what you're talking about," Damon says with a smirk.
"The third option is we reject our first two fates and get married. You already knew that though, so stop acting like an ass because we need to talk about this. The reason the door was locked and I looked like I was passed out was because I was conversing with Lady Athena. She's the one that told me everything. She also told me that throughout our journey, we will see our fates played out in visions and dreams. I've already seen my first fate. It was scary but it was empowering. I had successfully destroyed the world and the gods."
Damon looks at me with disappointment, "You shouldn't sound so impressed with yourself darling. I've also seen that future, I must say I didn't enjoy seeing myself laying on the ground dead," He takes a step closer to me, our chests almost touching, "But I did think you were mighty fine, up on that throne of yours, looking all in charge and stuff."
I roll my eyes and push him back, "Watch yourself boy."
He laughs at me, "I'm just trying to get you ready for the wedding darling. I may be proud that I was chosen as the savior, but I'm not excited about the responsibility and choices that it comes with. I assume since our chosen fate was the first dream, then our second chosen fate will be the next one. When that one happens, don't resent me for something that I did in a dream. It hasn't happened, and it won't happen. We'll figure the fate thing out." He sighs, "I'm sure Athena would still accept you as an eternal maiden even if we get married, as long as we don't do anything unmaiden-like in the bedroom."
He pulls me in for a hug, "I'm not going to make you do anything you don't want to do."
I hesitate before I say anything, because if we're being honest I need a hug. Once I finally speak up, "You're making me give you a hug though. Making me touch you when I don't want to."
Damon laughs at me and lets go of me. "Let's go back inside now, we should be coming up on a rest station and this train is making me stir crazy."
I follow Damon back inside and that's when I remember the man that Damon was talking to earlier. I look at his seat and it's empty. I look back at Damon, who's waiting for me at the front of the train car. I get a feeling of worry and anxiety that he's planning my death already.
