"Hey, What did you just say?"
Asked the short man with a furious face. He was angry not just because Noah insulted him, but because it was actually funny. Even the crowd started laughing which was very humiliating for him. He didn't know how to react and decided to keep the embarrassing silence. Suddenly, a human from the new group stepped before him. This human was tall and his face was intimidating. He was about to step back when the tall man suddenly apologized.
"I'm so sorry. My friend Noah is a real jerk, please don't mind him." Said Jack while looking coldly towards Noah as if he expected from him to apologize. Of course, Noah didn't care with this at all.
"Ohh you don't have to apologize, it was actually me who started all of this. I live in this world ever since my birth, so it's always a surprise for me when someone doesn't know about magic circles. My name is Derk. I'm from the dwarf race." Derk hoped to save his embarrassing situation with this. No one would call someone "uncultured human" out of reflex.
"He-hello Derk, I'm Jack" Jack didn't know how to react. His hands started sweating like crazy when he heard that the little man was a dwarf. It was something straight out of a fantasy movie. He felt like as if he just met an alien for the first time. The embarrassing silence started to take over the conversation, but suddenly a strong female voice reverberated inside the room.
"Quit the useless chatter and listen."
The voice belonged to a human lady who was around in her 30's. She got shoulder length brown hair with clear determined blue eyes. She wore a blue, long leather jacket which kind of looked like a lab coat. Her voice was strong and confident. It sounded like as if she spoke through a loudspeaker. Noah suspected that she used some kind of magic to amplify her own voice. This magic worked wonders as actually everyone shifted their attention towards the tomboy lady.
"I believe, probably everyone got the necessary information about the situation by now. Some of you are here from another world and some of you are here for the first time in order to learn more about magic. I won't waste more time with useless chatter. Welcome to the Dalios academy. The academy where you can learn more about magic and the world. Now, the ones from another world follow me and the others will take their test here with another teacher."
Noah and the others followed the tomboy teacher out of the big lobby. Around 100 people followed the teacher aside from the trio and not all of them were humans. This means that they came from another planet or another universe. Jack and Ling looked around as if the others were some kind of experiment subjects. The others did the same. The situation got even scarier when someone told Jack that her planet knew about humans.
Soon, the chaos got out of hand. Everyone started asking questions. Some even started fighting. Luckily no one died yet. The teacher just shook her head. She went through this with many groups already and got used to it.
However, there is someone she would never get used to. It was Noah who walked beside her and constantly watched her. He never asked a question. Just stared at her and looked at the statues sometimes as they walked through the giant corridor.
'Oh my god, what's the problem with this boy. I can't see through him at all. The others are confused and fighting everywhere, but he's just smiling at me. Is he even human? This boy is too creepy' Thought the teacher, but then something unexpected happened.
"I'm not creepy at all." Said Noah. The teacher jumped away when she heard this. She felt like that Noah is reading her mind. He didn't know that Noah used a mentalist technique which was called cold reading.
Cold reading is a set of techniques used by mentalists, psychics, fortune-tellers, and mediums. Without prior knowledge, a practiced cold-reader can quickly obtain a great deal of information by analyzing the person's body language, age, clothing or fashion, hairstyle, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, level of education, manner of speech, place of origin, etc. Cold readings commonly employ high-probability guesses, quickly picking up on signals as to whether their guesses are in the right direction or not, then emphasizing and reinforcing chance connections and quickly moving on from missed guesses. This is an extremely hard technique which requires many years of practice. Of course, the teacher didn't know about this at all.
"How did you do this?" Asked the teacher.
"I have my own magic."
The teacher just shrugged off his response as she saw that Noah won't tell her the truth. Soon, the group reached another giant lobby which looked like the same as the previous one. The teacher stopped here and turned around.
