Lily squeezed Connor's hand tightly, knowing he was nervous.
"You truly love her, don't you?" Mrs Carmichael asked, seeking confirmation.
Connor nodded without any hesitation.
"With all my heart, Mrs Carmichael," Connor answered, aware of how cheesy he sounded at that moment, not that he cared about that.
"Then what are we waiting for, the food's getting cold," Mrs Carmichael said, satiated.
She mouthed to Lily, 'You chose a good one, Lil.'
Lily beamed appreciatively, mouthing back, 'Of course I did, mom.'
On the other hand, Connor and Mr Carmichael were having a conversation of their own.
'I'm trusting you with Lily's heart, so don't you dare break it, or else...' Mr Carmichael warned, his eyes gleaming, the threat clear as day.
Connor nodded.
No matter what'd happen in the future, he'd never break Lily's heart, that was a fact.
