To say Emma was suspicious of Eleanor and Carina would be a complete understatement.
There had to be some objective as to why they were hosting a ball, even inviting foreign dignitaries along with it. The invitation did indeed mention why, although Emma believed that wasn't all.
Of course, these were James' mother and sister, she had to - at the very least - assume they had good intentions, no matter how every bone in her body told her not to trust either of the two women.
During her stay at the Amarisian palace, she had gotten Eleanor and Carina to warm up to her, and their relationship was improving... in a way.
They weren't enemies, nor were they arch-nemesis', although they weren't at the point where they'd throw balls for each other out of the blue.
It was then a thought came to her mind.
It was one that made sense, and if it were true, which she hoped it was not.
