It was already morning the next day, which was about twelve hours since Chloe's body was found in the palace hallway. She was currently being buried in one of the many royal graveyards, which would be her very final resting place.
It was a given that Emma wouldn't want to be even more traumatized by seeing the corpse of her mother again, so it was done.
It took a few hours of comforting and attempted reassurance later to make Emma stop crying, the result of that being how both her and James were now cuddling in Emma's bed.
Emma sniffled as she hugged James tight, not wanting to let him go anytime soon.
"It'll be okay," he assured, as he did many times before.
Safe to say that it took a long period of reassurance to get her to stop her from crying. That, and the fact that crying wouldn't bring back the dead. There was no point crying over already spilt milk, and a crying countess/girlfriend would probably be quite a lot for James to handle.
