A loud knock came from the outside of the past king's study.
There was only one person that'd want to talk to him this early in the morning, and no, it wasn't his wife.
"Come in," called the man Connor and James suspected was an impostor playing the role of their father.
"Father," James greeted with an eerie tone, still dressed in the same suit he wore at the ceremony, trying to seem as shaken up as he possibly could, trying to play it off that he had just broken up with Emma and had no other intentions than to come here and tell him he had done what his father had asked him to do, which wasn't too hard, since he actually did do so.
"Son, to what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you here?" The man asked curiously, his interest peaked.
James took a deep breath, keeping calm and composed. As one does when they're trying to prove someone isn't actually their father by tricking him with false information.
This family really never did normal.
