Chapter 81 - Chapter 20

Without answering their question, I start filling more and more bowls for them to eat and before I know it, all of the kids were eating home-cooked food, probably for the first time in their lives.

To be honest it kind of makes me feel like for the first time in my life I've done something truly good for someone that isn't a friend or family.

By the time all of the kids were done eating their meals, one hour have already passed and the only thing that I did was to serve them food or better said refill their bowls. Such a cruel world, especially for the kids that are abandoned or the ones that remain orphans and have to survive on the streets or even worse, in the hands of the slave-like-familia that force them to work while the adults are enjoying their lives. At least I did something good for them.

Looking at the kids, I decided that it's time to tell them the real reason I have come to them and hopefully get a few children for my familia.

"I hope that all of you enjoyed my food, hopefully, it wasn't that bad as my mother once told me."

A few giggles were heard even if what I have said wasn't that funny, but who can contradict some unfortunate children? Because I know for sure that I can't do that.

"As your friend may have already guessed I didn't come here to do charity, but even if I don't get anything out of this encounter, at least I helped you kids eat something fulfilling for once or at least in a while. I know that what I will say very soon may confuse some of you, what I want you to know is that I swear on my life that I will not harm anyone of you in any kind of way imaginable."

After saying that I waited a minute for them to digest my words and while the younger kids didn't really understand my words very well, the older ones were already having an idea about what I'm going to ask or at least had a general idea about what I would offer because even a job would be better than just waiting to starve to death.

"As some of you may have already noticed, I'm a god and my reason for coming here today is to ask you if you would like to become my children and before you decline or accept my proposal, I want to let you know that I'm a God that's connected to taking care of people and fighting their enemy."

While I could have told them my real titles, I doubt most of them would even know what it would even mean so rather than confusing them more than necessary, these simple terms would suffice for now.

I could say that waiting for their response was quite interesting, maybe that's how those gods feel, knowing that they are the strongest being in the world and that they can't truly die.

After what felt like an eternity, five brave kids walked towards me, and surprisingly enough, two of them were the first boy that talked to me and the girl that tried to read my mind.

"I presume you five are the only ones that are going to come with me, am I right?"

"You are right, sir. My brother and our friends have decided to become the ones to see if you are speaking the truth and if everything is all right, the rest of our friends will also agree, sir."

"I see, well, I can't say that I'm disappointed, after all, I have come with the thought that you will surely decline my offer. OH, where are my manners? My name is Yoshida Haru, your friendly neighborhood god. Can I know your names little ones?"

The first one to speak was the girl which made me believe that she was the one taking care of her friends or at least was one of the big sister figures.

"My name is Veronica and this blockhead is my brother Victor. The boy with the scarred face is Maku while the girls are May and Jun. As you may have already found out, I'm the oldest one, being 14 while my brother is just one year younger than me. Maku and May are both 10 years old while Jun is the younger one and finally thank you sir for giving us a chance."

"Nice to meet you all. Before we leave, would you like to give your goodbyes to your friends? At least until you guys grow a little stronger to protect yourselves from harm."

All five of them nodded and I just smiled at them before leaving the kids to say goodbyes to their friends.

After ten minutes of assuring their friends and a few more tears later, all five of them returned to my side with a smile on their faces.

"Ready little ones?"

The kids nodded at me and before any one of them could comprehend what happened, I teleported us to my home ,making the kids wonder why did they agree to come with me. Another five more minutes, I could see the kids regain their bearings and the first thing that they asked me is to do that again…Working with kids isn't that easy as I thought.
