Chereads / The Only Leveling System / Chapter 142 - Surrounded

Chapter 142 - Surrounded

The moment Rem saw who was attacking them, she was surprised to not see any demons. She was certain that she sensed demons here. The enemies wore black and red armor. They each have some kind of creature that has two horns embedded in their armor.

'That must be their symbol. Anyways, I clearly sensed demons. They're not demons though...'

Rem inspected one of the enemies' stats.

[Name: N/A]

[Role: Habarian Soldier]

[Race: Human]

[Level: 54]

[HP: 66,000/66,000]

[MP: 21,000/21,000]

[Element: Earth]

'They're humans, but they have a role...?'

{They probably took some demon's essence before.}

'And those are?'

{They can be obtained from demons. Even if you take a low demon's essence, your power can increase drastically. However, everything comes with a cost. If a normal human consumes a low demon's essence, they will die in around a month.}

'Who's crazy enough to take that just to get stronger for a while? It's not worth giving up your life for... What did I expect? There're always those who side with the demons. It's their life. Why should I care...? Geez, whatever. They're enemies, so I'll have to kill them anyway.' Rem decided.

「War is a ruthless thing.」

'Yes, it is.' Rem sighed before cutting off head after head with the sword she grabbed earlier.

Many were shocked by Rem's actions, but they continued to fight despite this.

...

After only ten minutes, almost all of the enemies were killed. None of the enemies escaped thanks to Rem.

'I thought they were going to be harder to defeat. Are they supposed to be this weak?' Rem wondered.

She killed over 50 enemies and even leveled up twice. In total, there were around 80 of them.

'I purposely left five alive to interrogate them. Though, I can't do that when they're still unconscious...' Rem faced General Ross.

"General Ross. I've left five alive. I think we should interrogate them once they wake up. If none of them speaks even after torture, please call me. I'll make sure to take care of it." Rem said aloud.

"Miss Rem is indeed talented. I'll keep what you said in mind." General Ross replied.

"Everyone who isn't heavily injured may go treat your injuries by yourselves. Bring the heavily injured ones to the medical tent to get treated. The uninjured may leave." General Ross said loudly.

"Yes, General!" Everyone yelled at the same time.

Rem left the crowded area and walked towards tent number 10. She wanted to see how Samael's doing.

'I need to be more careful. I couldn't sense any of our enemies...'

「It's not Master's fault.」

'I'm just disappointed that I couldn't detect them at my level.'

{Hiding their presence is every Habarian Soldier's specialty.}

'How can I detect them then?'

{You can detect them when you're over a certain level or you have the skill for it unless you took demon essence yourself.}

Rem's thoughts were interrupted by the soldiers and knights combined who had suddenly surrounded her.

"How did you do that?"

"Are you really just a newbie?"

"Please teach us!"

Rem heard them say.

'The military sure is loud. What a rude bunch...' Rem thought as she furrowed her brows.

She didn't like people invading her personal space.

"Don't bother me." Rem simply said before she teleported out of there.

Everyone who saw Rem disappear either admired or was jealous of her.

Rem arrived at tent number 10 within a minute. There's nobody but two people in the tent. One is Samael, and the other is herself. Rem saw how Samael was sitting up and awake. She walked closer to him and observed him.

'There doesn't seem to be any problems with him.'

"How are you feeling?" Rem asked.

"I feel as good as new. Thanks for saving me back there." Samael responded.

"No problem. They were just a few lousy dogs who needed to be taught a lesson." Rem stated.

"Anyways, what happened? I heard a lot of noise coming from outside the moment I woke up." Samael claimed.

"Around 80 enemies attacked us. They attempted to get rid of our supplies, but they failed. We managed to kill all of them except for five who's alive because we need to interrogate them." Rem explained.

"I should've joined the fight...!" Samael said, dejected by him missing the fight.

"It's alright. You were injured and on top of that, you were unconscious. Nobody would blame you." Rem reassured.

"Okay, thanks," Samael muttered under his breath.

'The place from before is quiet as long as nobody's there. I'll use that place to create more shadow soldiers.' Rem decided.

"Rest for the rest of the day. I'll be training somewhere quiet." Rem announced.

Samael nodded as Rem left the tent.

...

When Rem arrived at the place where she has beaten up the group of knights, she began to create the shadow soldiers. After around six hours of doing this, she used up half of her mana and created 38 more shadow soldiers.

「Master! I can sense angels nearby!」

'How many ar—'

"There you are!" A familiar voice spoke.

For some reason, this familiar voice made Rem oddly cautious. She could feel the large killing intent coming from behind her.

Rem immediately turned only to see the angel she met previously in Elkia Kingdom's only temple.

'I should've known after Cynric warned me... How did she find me...? Did I not hide my tracks well?' Rem questioned herself.

"What are you here for?" Rem finally asked as she stared at the angel who stared back at her with a smile on her face.

"Heh, I thought you became mute. I've come here to get my revenge! Rest assured, I'll make it so you would regret being born!!!" The angel yelled.

'Says the one who ran away last time...'

All of a sudden, angels began to descend from the sky.

'It's no surprise that she brought reinforcements, but I didn't expect there to be that many...!'

"Are you afraid? You should, because I'm no normal angel. I'm an archangel!" The angel claimed.

'I think I'm in huge trouble now.'

{Yes, you are. I don't think you can defeat that many even in your original form.}

'Well, thanks a lot. What a great thing to say in this situation!' Rem replied in a sarcastic tone.

{By the way, you used up around half of your mana already. You're f*cked.}

'That's a first. I never knew you could curse...!' Rem took out a pair of daggers from her inventory.

She's currently surrounded by who knows how many angels.
