"I came here by activating a portal." Chloe began, shocking everyone.
'Portal? Is that possible...?'
{All the portals I know of and can tell you is, they can only bring you to another dimension. They can't teleport you to another world.}
"There was a portal from the world I was from. Nobody was allowed to go near the portal except for the higher-ups. I sneaked inside with a few others around my age out of curiosity." Chloe admitted.
Izel seemed unfazed, but one of her brows furrowed when she heard what Chloe said.
「Master, I've heard of a saying that about how curiosity can lead to your doom.」
'Yes, it can if you aren't careful.'
"If I would have known this would happen, I wouldn't have done anything..." Chloe muttered.
"Can you tell me more about the portal?" Rem asked.
'To be able to travel to another world is amazing. Just in case I can't find that b*stard who killed me in my previous life, I'll simply travel to the world I was from before and find him myself.' Rem decided.
"The portal has been in the same place for generations. I don't think there were any records about the portal other than the fact that it protects everyone." Chloe answered.
'I guess that won't be happening anytime soon.' Rem sighed in disappointment.
'My priority would be to stay alive. If I'm dead, how can I do anything? My second priority would be to get strong enough to defeat the Demon King in this world. I believe the stats I had in my previous life was maxed out until I defeated the Demon King. Therefore, I need to defeat the Demon King so I can go beyond the limit. After that, I'll get even stronger, find that b*stard, and give him a gruesome death.'
Rem smiled evilly, causing everyone to shiver.
{How long would that take? A year, a decade, or perhaps a century?}
'I have more than enough time to reach my goals. Part of my plan is to have a few allies. They're useful after all.'
"What should we do with him?" Alex asked, pointing at Samael.
"He can come with us if he wants to." Rem replied.
Samael was taller than Rem by an inch or two. He also seemed to be older than Rem. By height, Samael would be the tallest in the group while Rem is the second tallest. Izel's just a little shorter than Rem, while Chloe and Alex have about the same height, which is slightly shorter than Izel.
'I don't need to rest much. I can leave Leroy City at night after everyone's asleep and grind for some levels by fighting the monsters nearby.' Rem thought.
She didn't want to waste any time.
Rem opened the system's map. She walked towards the direction of an inn since it was getting dark and she needed a place to rest with three or four others.
As the four followed Rem, loud yelling and chattering could be heard.
"Have you heard? Orthio City has been taken over by the demons!!!"
"This can't be happening...! First Arka City, now Orthio City too???"
"What if we're next? The demons are just too strong!"
Almost everyone has either an anxious or afraid look on their face. After hearing that Orthio City was taken over by the demons, Rem remained calm.
'Although I didn't see the attack myself, I know those people in black and red robes are helping the demons. Getting rid of those people would make it easier for me to defeat the Demon King...!' Rem thought as she continued to walk towards an inn.
...
*Bang!!!
A beastman in silver armor barged into a room in a hurry. He was sweating and out of breath.
"General! The... The skeletons...!" The man huffed, trying to catch his breath.
The person the man was speaking to was none other than General Ross, the same female who was about to arrest Rem earlier.
"Thousands... Thousands of skeletons are coming this way! W-We failed to stop her from escaping and summoning those monsters...!"
*BANG!!!
The General punched her desk with her right hand. This caused a huge dent in the desk.
"I left for merely a day, and she managed to escape during that time??! Dammit...!"
The General clenched her fists while the man trembled in fear. He knew full well about the fact he and everyone else who watched the person they were guarding would get punished or even die, depending on what they did.
"You guys better prepare yourselves after this." The General glared at the man.
The man gulped, avoiding the General's gaze.
"For now, gather everyone and tell them to get into the formation at once. We need to protect this city no matter what." The General ordered, getting ready to leave immediately.
"Yes, General!" The man who's also a messenger knight said, bowing slightly before leaving with the General.
They rushed to where the skeletons were, hoping they haven't arrived at Leroy City yet.
