Chapter 109 - Followers

"What are you guys doing? Why are you calling me a lord???" Rem was bewildered.

"Get up, right now." Rem demanded.

She was slightly flustered at how the villagers reacted.

"Yes, my Lord!" The Tribe Leader got up.

The others followed what the Tribe Leader did.

"Explain," Rem ordered.

"A long time ago, our race was at the brief of extinction when a beast appeared, saving all of us from doom. The beast looked exactly like you, except it was larger. One day, the beast suddenly disappeared. However, I'm sure of it. You're our Lord! You're either the child of that beast or the beast itself." The Tribe Leader explained.

He seemed proud, delighted, and confident at the same time.

"I don't think I'm that beast... Does the beast have a name?" Rem asked.

"Unfortunately, it didn't tell us its name." The Tribe Leader replied in a sad tone.

'Could the beast be a Kager too...?'

"Then what about its race?" Rem raised one of her brows.

"I've never seen the beast myself, but there's a place in this village where we worship it. Our ancestors drew the beast themselves." The Tribe Leader guided Rem to the place they worship the beast. Roy stayed in the village with everyone else.

After walking for a while, they arrived at a cave.

"We've arrived, my Lord." The Tribe Leader allowed Rem to enter the place first.

Rem looked at the drawings that were carved everywhere on the cave walls. There was a carving of a huge beast and below the beast were carvings of people. It looks like the people were offering food and valuables to the beast while the beast took down an army of monsters. Under the carving of the beast, there were real food and jewelry.

'The beast kind of looks like me... It's just larger...?'

"Okay, so the beast got rid of the monsters for you. That saved your kind. To thank the beast, you would offer food and valuables to the beast even after it disappeared so suddenly, right?"

"Yes, you're correct, my Lord. We would offer the beast food daily, and valuables weekly. I don't know what happened to the beast, but I'm sure you're him, his child, or a relative of his."

"I do look like him... Though, I don't know him at all." Rem admitted.

"It's okay, my Lord. You're our savior and Lord!"

"I'm not your Lord..."

"You are our Lord."

"I'm not—"

"I'm convinced that you're our Lord."

"Fine, do what you what." Rem said, giving up.

'I need to find out more about this beast. Maybe it's a Kager like me.' Rem thought, exiting the cave.

"What are you going to do now, my Lord?" The Tribe Leader asked, following Rem.

"Going back to the city. What about you?"

"I'm going to stay here with the others. We're a huge family. I can't abandon them, my Lord."

"I see."

Rem and the Tribe Leader arrived back at the village.

"My Lord!" Everyone said, bowing.

"Please stop being so awkward. Just act like you normally do." Rem ordered, not knowing what to do with all of them.

"Yes, my Lord!" Everyone stopped bowing.

"The monsters and every living being except you guys around here are all gone, and the barrier is broken as well. Before I leave, I'll make a sturdy bridge and fence around the village. We might as well get rid of all that dried-up lava too."

Everyone in the village cheered.

"I'll help clear out the nearby dried-up lava." Roy offered.

"I'll make the bridge first." Rem said, using her creation magic to create a large, sturdy bridge.

In half an hour, the village was surrounded by strong fences.

"There. All done." Rem summoned Karasu and told Karasu to bring her up in the sky.

Karasu did what Rem said.

'The whole island looks like a brunt crisp.' Rem thought, creating a huge barrier around the island.

Flying back down, Rem told everyone that she created a barrier that would make the island seem invisible from the outside of the barrier. If someone manages to get past the barrier, Rem said it would notify her and the Tribe Leader.

"Sorry, but you'll have to survive with fishes for a while. Here are some seeds and fertilizer. You can grow food using them. I already told Roy to spread some seeds on this island." Rem stated.

She already bought millions of seeds in the shop. It took hours for them to spread all those seeds and plant them. After six hours, they finally finished.

"Thank you, my Lord! We're truly grateful!" The Tribe Leader claimed.

"Thank you, my Lord!" Everyone else repeated together.

"It's nothing. I think it's time for us to go. We'll visit some other time." Rem began.

"No, wait!" A familiar voice yelled.

"Please, take me with you!" The same little boy from before said.

"Ah, please forgive my grandson." The Tribe Leader said in a panic.

"Why do you want to come with us?" Rem asked.

"I want to become a strong warrior, just like dad! Take me to the city. I promise I'll be useful!" The boy said in a determined tone.

"What can you do?" Roy asked in a cold tone.

"I-I can help you with chores. A-And carry stuff for you! I can also do errands!" The boy listed out, stuttering.

'Should I take the boy with me...?' Rem wondered.

"The most I want is to get revenge on those people who invaded our village many years ago!" The boy added.

"Hm... Do you have a name?"

"No..."

"You don't mind if I call you Alex, do you?"

"You're giving me a name...?" The boy seemed shocked.

"Yes, I am. Do you mind if I take your grandson with me?"

"I'm very grateful... Thank you, thank you so much! Of course, you may take him. Please take good care of him." The Tribe Leader said, his voice cracking.

"Well, Alex. Let's go." Rem held the boy's hand, lifting him up.

The boy smiled brightly. Roy shifted into his dragon form. Rem helped Alex get on the dragon. Then, she got on herself. They waved goodbye to everyone else, leaving the island.
